  1. I saw this film the other night at our local art house movie theater. It was nominated in 2005 for an oscar for Best Foreign Language film. The plot centers around a conductor who suffers a heart attack and retires back to his small home town in the hopes to realize his dream to create music that opens people's hearts. There he becomes the cantor for the church leading the rag tag choir. The choir members not only find their voices to sing but to speak out about who they are and what they want of their life. I found it inspiring...especially the solo in the choir concert. There isn't a region 1 release of it on DVD but if you're local art house has it playing I'd recommend seeing it. At the showing I attended, the audience sat transfixed as the closing credits rolled. No one dared stand and disturb the mood for a long while. Vid Clip of the solo with the lyrics translated: It is now that my life is mine. I have but this moment on earth. And my longing has brought me here. What I lacked and that I received is still the path I have chosen. My hope was far beyond words and has shown a little bit of the heaven I never reached. I want to feel that I'm alive in the time I have. I will live as I desire. I want to feel that I'm alive knowing I was good enough. I've never forgotten who I am. I have just left it sleeping. Maybe I never had a choice, only the will to exist. I only want to be happy being who I am, to be strong and free, to see how night changes to day. I am here and my life is only mine, And the heaven I believe exists I'll discover it there some where I want to feel that I have lived my life.
  2. I didn't try anything...worn out or otherwise....and I think the answer is no - nyah nyah.
  3. The assertion that only "4 hours notice" was given is inaccurate. Sorry Rob - No offense intended. It was announced via USPSA's print media which is sufficient. Unfortunately I didn't receive the May/June issue of Front Sight - I'm sure my mail carrier is enjoying it or some tree hugger recycled it trying to protect me from myself. I haven't looked at the USPSA web page since SS Nationals and that was at the match results section. It wasn't up at that time. Oh well, one of those things. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for luck...obviously not while I'm shooting.
  4. Reading a post from last year, there were over 80 invites from the waiting list (if I am reading it correctly) on the uspsa-nationals page for LPR. Mike I was 178 last year on the Production waiting list and got in. I hope this is true...I wasn't at my computer last night and didn't see that the post about the wait list until this morning...What is up with announcing it only 4 hours before hand? Last year didn't the wait list only open after the deadline for sent slots pass? Crud! I'm sitting at place 129 for the L10... I'm really, really, really unhappy that I didn't know about this until this morning. I'll be in Tulsa anyway for the Ltd match, guess I can get to the range at Oh-Dark-Thirty for the day of the match wait list if I don't get in via the online wait list. :(
  5. Two thoughts on blizzards...it either needs to have nuts in it to provide texture variety or it should have contrasting flavors - cherry and chocolate for example. Cherry chocolate with walnuts is divine (and about 40 more minutes on the elliptical runner).
  6. Most of this crowd runs with a loaded gun! That makes running with scissors seem rather pedestrian in comparison.
  7. Next time the semi-professional party mavin known as Jamie organizes a BE meet/greet, I'm buying him a beer! Too Dang Funny!
  8. Z...I think you're officially poking the bear....
  9. I can take it or leave it...but my hubby? Every night, without fail, he puts a cup of yellow kernels in his Orville Redenbacker airpopper. As the puffed kernels spill out the spout, he generously spritzes them with butter spray. He then salts the popcorn. And then, he eats this giant, Jethro Bodine - sized bowl lingering over the "hens" - the partially popped kernels. Those are his favorite. Like I said in another thread, I think he needs a 12 step program.
  10. I'm still waiting on my personal jet pack to get me from point A to B...Didn't Walt Disney or someone predict that by the year 2k? Guess I'm stuck buying gas in the meantime....
  11. Is there a 12 step program for popcorn? I think I need to send my husband to a meeting....
  12. Try reading the first sentence of the first post, I'll help you out: And, it was followed by another 102 day. And today, my teeth are chattering because it only got up to 98. Edited for tone... Um, sorry...105, 102, and 98 are all 95+... In my second sentence I said I was agreeing with you that temps above 95+ degrees suck! A few days is crazy making, a month is instant insanity! It wasn't a rebuttal. I get crazy when the temps are 95+ for many days in a row such as July, August, and September here in the Great State of Texas. My DNA is engineered for 20" deep snow!
  13. A couple of days of 95+ temps makes you crazy? I can relate, generally here we count how many days we go above 100. Some years it's only been 5 days. I remember one summer where we hit 30 days.
  14. Which party monster tossed TheGirl in the pool at the Open?

    Cancer !

I'm truly sorry for your loss Sam. God gave us memories so that in the harsh, barren winter we can remember the beauty of spring when life bursts forth in renewal. Prayers sent for his kin.
  16. Oooohhhh! I like that as a tagline for Jamie - Flex?!?! Flex???? Um...he must be busy or he thinks it's not funny!
  17. hahaha.... no but thanks for your worthless addition to my thread to up your post count. Does anyone know of anyone that does actual custom work and not a "Drop-in" trigger? That's the 2nd funniest thing I have read today. And before someone accuses me of waiting for a train wreck.... Welcome to the forums! I'd give it a go at doing my own trigger job. I did all of mine and as the saying goes, if I can do it... You'll need an after market striker, a reduced power striker spring, and a tube of flitz to polish the crucible. It won't be crisp as maybe Vanek's, but you'll still be production class legal (unless I'm not up to date and Charlie's trigger was approved).
  18. Gee, I think someone means me! If that's the case, the switcheroo wasn't punishment at all 'cos I never saw the offending emoticon. Besides, I wouldn't care if I did see it. 1. I'm a 1st Gen Swedish American raised with liberal attitudes about nudity. 2. I own a pair. Nothing new to see for me. Now Z might be disappointed! However, the use of the popcorn emoticon in a post on a "heated" discussion/thread isn't necessarily "waiting for the train wreck." Perhaps the intention was a friendly reminder to keep things civil....maybe because I was interested in reading a thoughtful discussion. Even if it were a "jab" at those whose egos were in conflict, it certainly could only be construed as a light hearted one. If I wasn't the intended recipient, then in the immortal words of Emily Litella (Gilda Radner), "Never mind!"
  19. How is your knee? Is it healing up?
  20. Forgot to post yesterday's WOD. I've never done a max effort deadlift so I kinda worked my way up. 75/95/95/105/105/115/115 I was kinda hoping I could at least do my body weight but it was a challenge to start the 115 moving off the ground. Once I got it off, it went fine. I tried 125 but felt my form wasn't there so I didn't lift it all the way. Cindy today?! I kinda did 3 rounds of Cindy plus back extensions, KTE, and sit ups yesterday as my warm up!
