  1. It's a good thing these things aren't in service yet...Could you imagine the tussle if someone attempted to put one on Z because of his canceled flight?
  2. But my question is...do you have to load the evil i-tunes or does Media Monkey allow you to use your ipod without loading the i-tunes software?
  3. Hey Phil, I was up at USSA last weekend for the uspsa match (well, really I was visiting the inlaws) and I shot stage 3 but with paper. The course description assessed a penalty for stepping outside the shooting area and a per shot penalty for each shot fired outside the shooting area. I didn't see that on the stage description you attached. Will the course description be modified?

SH/WH and accuracy at distance used to be the way to gain match points over the competition...not so much any more as you don't see it at many majors. However since it is scarce, if you can do it and it's called for in a match, you will gain ALOT of points. Hardly anyone practices it.
  5. Last I checked, Texas was considered part of the South West - not the Midwest....But I can see how some folks get confused since Texas is such a big place! LOL...And yes, I'm referring to the Double Tap article in Front Site....
  6. Shouldn't these posts be under the topic "things you only do once" ???? Or are you all planning repeat performances for our benefit ???? :roflol:
  7. Now that we've drifted to Salmon....I can contribute! As a swede I'm obligated to know nearly every culinary variation possible with this wonderful fin fish. One of my fav's is so simple and yet tastes very gourmet.... Get yourself (or make if you are so inclined) some pesto. My favorites are the Texas de la France pesto available at HEB or Central Market...Have no clue what if it's marketed outside of my great state. But, the one I use is a wild mushroom pesto. They also make a kick a$$ pablano pepper pesto. A regular basil pesto will certainly do as well. Simply season a salmon filet with a little salt, garlic, and pepper. Top it with the pesto (about 1/8 of an inch thick) and then put it on the second rack in the oven on broil. 10 minutes per inch thick is what it needs to cook until fork tender. The pesto will "burn" and form a crust. The olive oil will thin surrounding then sealing the fish. If you put the filets on foil, the skin will stick letting you to easily remove the meat. When it's cooked, you'll have the best salmon on the planet to eat. Serve with dill seasoned brocolli, brown rice, or other appropriate starch. Heaven!!! And leftovers...oh yeah! Here's where it gets good.... Take any left over salmon and put it in an air tight container overnight. In the morning, boil a couple of eggs (place in a pot in salted water, wait until it boils, then remove and cover it - rinse after 12 minutes). Shell the eggs, slice them, add the left over salmon, add a tablespoon of mayo, a tablespoon of the pesto and mix it up. If you like crunchies, add either some sliced celery or pickles. Let it sit in the fridge until the flavors meld - about 2 hours. Take it out and serve it on toasted bread (pita, wasa crisps, whole wheat) with some spinach salad. Yummmm......
  8. Wow Chris, heart breaker of a story. I'm so sorry for you. I got both my dogs, "jack" and "amanda" at the pound in San Diego. Like you, I think it's best to rescue a pet. Jack was the runt of the litter but a fiesty guy with loads of personality. Amanda was of an unknown age. She had been abused and it took two years for her true personality to come out. She was smart, a bit of a rascal, and fiercely loyal since she was treated right. I had to turn Amanda back over when unfortunate circumstances forced me to move into a small apartment - I could only keep one dog....and that was Jack. Because of her training and gentle nature, she ended up in a hospice program where she went out daily to visit shut-ins and those near death. I was sad to let her go but knew she'd brighten some one else's mood with her dog smile and loving demeanor. Right when I married, Jack nearly died of kidney failure. He's in my bridal pictures and managed to hang on nearly another two years. He gave up the battle when my daughter turned 6 months old. Soon I think, when my daughter turns 8, we'll get another dog. Prayers inbound for Chance and for your wife's dog.
  9. Well, with any luck today I'll be off the injured reserved list. I see the doc this morning. It feels like I'm healing up okay. Fingers crossed. Although I wasn't supposed to, I've been doing some very scaled back stuff - mostly push ups, dips, and sit ups.
  10. Ended up going with the Seiko Coutura in two tone with a white face...it is just a sharp looking watch and functional (alarm, chronograph, etc)....He was very, very happy!
  11. It'll probably be this one in two tone gold/silver (his wedding band is gold). I found a watch place locally that will cut me a good deal on it. The diamonds might be a bit too much bling for him but I'll send off his old seiko to get rebuilt and he can then have a nice dress watch and a daily beater.
  12. Alright all you watch snobs - educate me! Back when we got married, I bought my hubby the nicest seiko I could afford; stop watch function, date, adjusting bezel, other nifty features. It has finally died - the seal must have broken - after he got it slightly wet on accident, it fogged, and went defunct. Granted it wasn't as nice as the present I got (a gun safe)...but he's worn it daily since 1998. For father's day and a 10 year anniversary perk, I'd like to get him a replacement watch. While I'm sure a mechanical watch is the "preferred" timepiece, Quartz has a lot more features for less dollar. He may be an engineer but at a certain point, pragmatism wins out over design with him. So what can you recommend and why?
  13. It took six years to get a SS card with my married name on it....Every time I went to the SSA office, I would give up after two hours of waiting. I did that three times...and then I picked a Wednesday morning about 10:30am...Managed to get thru in about 35 minutes.... It makes the DMV look like crack addicts on double espresso!

Some one sent this to me and I thought it was kinda funny...
  15. I kinda had an unexpected issue pop up that culminated into cauterization and stitches. Now I'm down for two weeks restricted to not doing "anything" physical. No yoga, no CF WOD, nada, zip....I can walk albeit rather slowly. At least I don't have to worry about putting on weight....I'm on a liquid diet for another week. Anyone have any good soup recipes? Did I mention that I'm supposed to go to a huge smörgåsbord at the Swedish Consulate's next weekend? Guess I'll stare longingly at the salmon and meatballs and mentally pretend to eat them. My folks are arriving tomorrow for a 3 week visit and I'm supposed to play tour guide. I have a house to clean, laundry to do, grocery shopping, and the kiddo is out of school. I hate sitting on my duff unable to do much. I'm a woman of action! Harumph!!! At least I can still dryfire...uh and load ammo.

  17. June 22nd? Guess not.... I have family in town until the 23rd....
  18. Another closet browncoat says "ain't that the truth!" Oh, and my guess as to the 5th cylon...it's Baltar. For how long did we watch both Six and Baltar get nuked at the opening credits. She died and resurrected but he lived thru it?
  19. Match date? When I click summer shoot out on the club home page, I end up at the IDPA match held May 31st....
