  1. I refuse to fly and am self employed.......that second one is what drives decision making when deciding...the first one was broken last year for Surefire in Vegas.Every Regional I'm signed up for came out to right at 12 hr one way trips, and I didn't sign up for the 16 and 22 hr one way drives. I wish I could get a Regional in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska.....I'd make them all in addition to the 3 I'm attending now. Heck, I'd attend one in Illinois as long as it was close enough to America to stay, eat, and spend money outside of Illinois! It just takes shooters. The western and Midwestern regionals haven't been filling up. Hopefully with this new format of bigger and badder stages that changes and we get regionals 7, 8, 9, & 10 next year. seems like something should be said here.....maybe "amen" or something!
  2. Squadded with Kurt this past weekend.....heard some ideas, saw some props......this one is gonna be fun!

  4. If I'm considering this match again, because it seems like it will be vastly different from last year and my schedule is already getting packed, would it be safe to assume that someone with dunlap disorder (read "beer gut") would be able to have caddies further out from their belt as long as the measurement is from the "body" and could be measured from the gut? I'm guessing that certain caddy styles, or combinations with certain mounting methods would not make that 75mm guideline since there will be a required equipment check for something like that. Would there be any difference if you tek-lok'd your caddies to your INNER belt and would essentially skip using an inner/outer belt combo. I'm going to look thru the IPSC rules that appear to be in place now, and compare to my gear before making a decision on the division, and match....but small details on things are always nice when there seems to be a change of who is running things and how it will be run. I liked the Noveske 3-gun match in Byers that you ran, so I know you can run a match...but IPSC rulesets on stages may constrain how things CAN be done. Most of above, would assume shooting the standard division instead of shooting outlaw (who shoots a pump or cheater gun anyways?).....which is where I think most would opt to shoot right now, IMO.
  5. Solid match that felt more "outlaw" than before. I had a solid match with 3 top five stage times, and one being a stage win, but couldn't hold it together on 2-3 other stages, with one of them being a meltdown. There were targets present that demanded more respect and consideration than just using large 4x10 and 12x12 steel. I don't think the slings added much, or took anything away, but was another fold in the mix. Even tho it's a 12 hour drive, I hope 3GN holds another event at this range again next year! Thank you Remington and AAC for supporting the match!!!
  6. IPSC rules....interesting. Decision now is standard vs. outlaw since I prefer to run my chest rig. I'll be standing by for registration info.
  7. Somebody has been paying attention to what shooters say! Now of we can just get you to quit shooting cheater division
  8. A buddy and I ran thru the stage points versus total time debate from a pure strategy standpoint. If the match is total time, every second counts as much as the rest.....the little burner stages, you just don't want to lose too much, whereas really big stages can decide the match, so you want to nail those the best you can. The most consistent shooter who has reliable equipment will usually win, even if they only win 1-2 stages. Penalties and malfunctions hurt the same no matter what stage they happen on. In a stage points match (assuming all 100pt stages), the big stages are where you want to go conservative and not lose too many points when considering a 90 sec time versus a 110 sec time. The burner stages are were you really need to lay down a fast run and you could determine the match winner if you blow the field away on a classifier.....6.5 sec vs 10 sec is a massive difference in points. The most consistent shooter with reliable equipment will usually win the match...BUT someone like Horner can win 7/9 stages and have malfunctions and issues on 2 stages that wold equate to winning the match by fewer points. Basically, you can recover from malfunctions or penalties on big stages, but they hurt more on small stages. Clear a malfunction on a 100 sec stage and it costs you 5 stage points in an 800-1000 pt match. I don't care which scoring system is used, as long as I know ahead of time in order to make sure my stage plans are made accordingly at the match.
  9. That stage is at the match hotel.........I'm calling and inviting all the KU fraternities and sororities to make sure it's as fun as last year!
  10. Wondering the same thing.......hoping it's not the same weekend as the Zombie match this year.
  11. There would be a fight to squad with you because a lot of newer people would love to see how a pro shooter breaks down and shoots the same stage we shoot without having to sign up for the more difficult pro match. That would be a lot of fun. And I wouldn't have to worry about Dillen Easley getting lucky and beating me on one stage. Much safer that way!
  12. How do we find out how far down the wait list we are? Was at the range practicing during registration and didn't get to it til 3:15pm instead of noon. :-(
  13. I am, by no means, a tech-guru......but for some reason, I thought there was a computer program or possibly iphone/ipad App where you could randomly shuffle numbers or possibly the names entered by the numbers. Have everyone out front for the random draw, have a junior shooter touch the screen to randomly shuffle the names/numbers, then copy the list and add it to the Rock website....everyone can look at the list, see where their name lies, then the know how many beers they can have before their name is called. The bigger complaint I heard last year while drinking beers during the AM prize table was people picking up and putting down prizes, with some cherry picking from prizes to make their own prize. Hire some Catholic nuns and give them yardsticks.....someone picks up a prize and sets it back down, smack their hand.
  14. +1 on the AR Gold and I'm sure Jesse meant a Really Good 1911/STI type trigger, Not a good Glock trigger like some of the triggers mentioned Exactly! My Infinity pistol trigger is 2lbs. I haven't found a pistol trigger that's better not a rifle trigger. That AR Gold looks pretty amazing. After your other post I thought you might have started shooting an AR pistol too. I built one with a Sig Brace but I swear it never touched my shoulder. Come shoot the Gen3Gun Championship with us. I'll bring my AR Gold and Freedom Munitions ammo and you can try the trigger all you want. .......and make sure you stay at the match hotel and HOPE that the frat boys from KU are there again so Chad has someone to tell off and we all have a room to charge drinks to!
