Coco I have tried a 115g open major clocking at 1520s with a full slide and autocomp. compensator is brazos thundercomp with 3 holes. Not soft shooting, its flat with minimal lift inside cmore(half glass lift)..Ilike alittle more lift so I can track dot better..if its too small, i cant tell where the dot lifted? hope this makes sense. Can you describe the dot lift on your dawson comp with 2 side ports and 4 sideports(aka todd Jarred)? thanks. I really miss my first major 9mm..it was so flat shooting. it had 4 taperred barrel, mild scallop behind 5.0 slide and 2 aggressive big ports comp on it. http://staticthumbs3...2742ad66c57.jpg Almost all of our unhappiness comes from comparing ourselves to others, same goes for open guns. Don't shoot someone elses gun you migh fall in love with it then you are unhappy with yours. Dot movement with the Dawson DP 2 is from about the bottom of the A-Zone to the top of the A-Zone. It don't move a whole lot. Now this is with the optimum load, change the bullet or powder and you can get more movement and a bit more recoil. My smith shot the gun and just pulling the trigger like an idiot he would consistently get 2 A's. I don't do that I follow the dot. My Brazos comped gun with no holes (its a shorty) it is fairly soft but has a bit of flip but not bad. Autocomp was too erratic in the shorty, silhouette works better. Now in the Dawson DP2 gun AutoComp works just as good as Silhouette, in fact you can't tell the difference. I'd think you would be the expert you have owned and shot probably a 100 open gun in the last 6 months right? Coco..any difference in dot moevement from DP1(1 side port your black gun) and DP2(2 side port your silver gun)? can you tell me your load in autocomp and recoil spring?

+1 kind of puts back the weight at the back of the slide doesnt it? I guess those rear cuts are useless?..nice gun.

If they did it wouldn't last long in this forum!

Caspian is cheaper but I like it coz all steel gun are somehow flatter for my GRIP . Sti has more after market parts available and tend to get more expensive to built..kind of more recoil for me. For investment, go with STI as it has more value if you decide to sell it someday than Caspian. Shoot both to see which one you like. It will come down on how the grip will feel in your hands plus how experience you are as a shooter and what you want.

38 supercomp and 38TJ has smaller rim, you can get +2 with it. try it. 38 super has bigger rim.
-
You are right! Of all designs out there in 38 super I would think Brazo has the most efficient as bob has spent lot of time making it efficient. I'm sticking and going back to the Old school long comp and full slide Not lightened... It's by far more softer than any other. I look at Jojo, Kc, Todd and they have the long comp back on again. These lightening holes just makes them bit more erratic. Depends on your cup of tea. Thank for the input

Two different worlds, more parts avail for sti Caspian can be tuned but mag is finicky. You do have Bill Sahlberg aka hi capacity mags that Makes them100% cheaper to build. Cox of limited parts avail Caspian recoils different coz all steel, flatter for my grip Sti is solid reliable, little more recoil for me.

Open pistol Dot sight. Leupold Deltapoint
shooterbenedetto replied to flack jacket's topic in Open Pistols
Spoke to Barry at Shooters conncetion, they are looking into carrying this scope. Hope they do. I found them at Amazon as low as $316.00 7moa triangle. How hard can it be to make a cmore glass but jpoint body? wish I was an electonic genius. who ever makes it first will definitely make serious money. Would be great for us as we wont need to worry about EJECTION problems. -
+1 I know that brass picture..it was doing to my gun exactly that same thing..get the QUINN mount.
-
shoot it without the mount and see if it functions 100% if it does, get a Quin mount or docter sight with JV mount, Crspeed moutn with cmore sts will also work. There's nothing to hit the brass..even if you tune the extractor and ejector, there's still a chance you get a stuck brass after 120rds or so. believe me its is frustrating especially when shooting a stage. I have been thru this road and painful journey.

Area 2 is one good match with great props.
