  1. I modified Uncle Mikes grips for my S&W 642. I think they're a lot like Hogue but I just didn't like them. I took them off the gun and put them together with the supplied screw. Made sure they were symetrical too. Then chucked up a wood rasp on my drill press. The rasp was intended for a hand drill but once I lifted the table on the press I was able to manuever the grips around so it would remove the material evenly. The drill press was on the slowest speed and it cut right through the metal inserts but still didn't melt the rubber. That's what I'd suggest anyway. Here's a picture. http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6836/jframegripxw1.jpg They're rough looking right now because they're not finished but I don't care as long as they're functional. YMMV Gary
  2. Also in another thread someone got a RL1000 tool head off ebay and it doesn't fit a 1050. The tool head for the 1000 is smaller in diameter. You wouldn't be able to get additional 1050 tool heads for it without some changes or modifications (I think). Gary Looks like I should have looked for the thread. The tool head isn't smaller, the one in question was modified. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...;hl=Dillon+1050
  3. Where ever you're going, look for a club and contacts. That's what I do. As you know we shooters are very generous and more than willing to loan you all the stuff you need to shoot with. I've met some great guys on Oahu. Been shooting there and borrowing equipment for that last 6 years when we're vacationing on that island. In April I'll be in Maui but I'm taking my stuff with me. There's a match the day after we arrive so that'll hold me until the next match. That's another whole week away!!! My wife tells me she thinks I'm probably the only person ever to go on vacation that looks for a place to go shooting too. I tell her yep, I am...
  4. I'm just now running into this problem with mine after using it for two years. I'll bet its just an adjustment but I haven't read the instructions yet. All I had to do when I got it was put some primers on it and hit the button. Still, I'd never go back to loading those tubes with a flip tray. G
  5. A skillful rotary practitioner Yep, that's what I'm tellin my gunsmith. Next time I have to bring him something I messed up. I'm a "Rotary Practitioner". Just can't say I'm skillful... G
  6. We were just talking about this. Thought you might be too busy racing motorcycles to put one on. I'll see you there. Thanks, Gary
  7. I know someone else who has two XD9's for sale too. What's going on here? Oh yeah, I know; he got two CZ SP-01's that's what. Gary
  8. Dedicated Production gun; that's easy. CZ SP-01 with 4.7 inch barrel in 9mm. You also must have it slicked up by Mink or Hobdell. You won't be dissapointed. Gary
  9. Mine weighs 8lbs 2oz with a 16 inch barrel and Cooley comp, 20 inch gas system. Barrel was thinned but has the typical stock and a DPMS full size aluminum handguard. It's also sporting an ACOG TA11 on an Arms#10 mount. Gary
  10. A friend of mine had that happen at the 2000 3-gun nationals using Wolf .223 ammo. Twice on the same day. He said he learned a valuable lesson. Never use cheap ammo at the Nationals. I guess it could happen with any brand but Wolf is the one I remember. Gary Oh yeah, you need to knock the bullet back out the chamber not the other way.
  11. Make em' 8 and you'll never look back. Feels a little awkward at first but when you first hear all 8 of those rounds slipping into the magazine it'll be music to your ears. Gary
  12. Keith, This is from my manual. Some of it you really don't need. Gary

    Back pain!

The best way to find out if the drugs will work well with you is to take them while you have to stay home. Don't drive. I took Flexoril, Codine and Soma all at the same time but it didn't really matter what the side effects were as long as they worked. And they did work but I wasn't drowsy either. A chiropractor was the worst thing I did for it. And I tried just about everything. Accupuncture, physical therapy and some kind of stretching machine along with my inversion machine at home. Drugs worked the best though. You just have to allow your back enough time to heal. Then exercise. Good luck, Gary
  14. If you're fairly good with a hand held drill and you get a small enough drill bit you can do this to your existing front sight. I did it to my SA stock sight. Fiber Optic sight. Just go slow so you make it straight. Gary
  15. You aren't the only one who has this problem. I don't like shooting S_I's anymore because my grip is too tight on them for the mag to drop consistantly. It's probably a subconsious fear of not wanting to drop the gun while reloading. What I finally determined was, that I was squeezing the front strap area too hard with my two middle fingers when I hit the mag release. My Para doesn't flex under pressure so that was my cure. Gary
  16. No, they're pretty much stock but mines been ported by Briley. I did some welding on the shell lifter thingy for both guns and we added Nordic tubes but nothing else. We got to use them at the Thanksgiving Multi-gun match. I'm sold on that M-2 now for sure. See ya soon, Gary
  17. Why would you need a drill and tap Rich, and why modify the pin? Mine went on pretty easy. Only had to thin the tech loader ears. Ron's was the same. Gary
  18. I havent got a ta 11 but do have a ta01 and a ta31 I tied the trijicon mount and its ok, I put the ta31 on an arms mount and like it much more. If the larue mount for the ta11 is half as good as the mount they make for the tr21r it will be the best. I cant say enough good things about larue. They respond quickly and hold zero with taking the mount on and off. It is more money but it is money well spent. I can see that holding it's zero is good but why take it off in the first place? I got the Arms #10 channel mount from SWFA and the bottom of the scope when mounted in it is only a quarter inch off the top of the Picatinny rail. So the only thing making the scope high is the witness hole that's part of the scope anyway. This ACOG is new to me also, so I'm still learning. Gary
  19. What's the advantage of the LaRue mount over the Trijicon? The L100 still requires a mount for the scope though. Is it better because it's a quick on quick off? Just curious. Gary
  20. Well I'm back from Oahu and I just have to tell you that using a GPS is the only way to go for someone that doesn't know the roads. As a matter of fact I made it to the match earlier than about half the guys that showed up. They got stuck in traffic. I also ended up going more places than I would've ever wanted to, (the wife's idea). She just entered the location in the GPS where she wanted to go and handed it to me and said here's where we're going. Anyway, I got to shoot while I was there so it was almost like a vacation for me. Joe's right about those low ports too. Bad knees and low ports don't get along together very well either but I was still smiling at the end. Aloha, Gary
  21. I have one of these Blade tech holsters for sale. Are you interested in this type? It might even still be in the classifieds here. Gary
  22. Thanks Rabe, I did a check and saw that it's right in the middle of my commute. I will have to go a few miles out of my way but at least I won't be sitting in traffic during the match. Taking Joe's advice and coming from the North side. I'm thinking H-3, 61 then 72, but I'm still gonna be on Hawaiian time Gary
