Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The only way for pro's to make more money at this sport is for someone to come along and revolutionize the courses and make them spectator friendly and have 15,000 people able to watch the match and actaully see what is going on during the event. Then everything else will fall in place. This would take some new ideas and possibly technology that can make this happen. Politics might even try to stop it. It is an uphill fight, like any other.
  2. I have only seen a few people report problems with extraction on this forum, so I would say that the gun probably has the same percentage rate of problems as any other gun out there right off the factory line, except that this pistol is new, has all the bells and whistles that allows you to take is straight into production and compete so it garners more attention. My M&P Pro 9mm has been flawless, the trigger is far better than any other stock trigger out there, the sights are far better, and has the same grip angle as a 1911 that is even adjustable in size. In fact at one of the local IDPA clubs I shoot with they have a bunch of guys shooting Pro's in Production Class and none of them have had any problems and they are starting to beat the guys shooting much higher dollar guns in ESP. I say get the Pro.

    M&P Pro

    No problems with my pro.
  4. A buddy of mine was DQ'ed for not meeting power factor, he said the chrono guys didnt hold with tight grip and didnt tilt the gun back as stated in the rule book, one of his rounds was well over pf, one was 3 fps under, and the third was a little more under. He was not pleased that he didnt get to shoot an additional three rounds through the gun himself, I have seen him chrono his ammo at least 5 different times and it always passed. The rule book was definitely not followed correctly, the sad part was my buddy traveled all the way from Arkansas and if not DQ'ed would of won his division, he was DQ'ed on the next to last stage he shot. He normally goes over to Berryville, Arkansas and shoots with the guys at the birthplace of IDPA, he would never try to shoot a under pf reload to gain an advantage.
  5. What kind of groups can you expect at 25 yards? Is it really to big?
  6. Why do you even need a comp, didnt some guy win open with no comp recently at a national match?
  7. I want to get a new production gun and have my decision down to these three blasters. Since this will be a gamer gun I looking for which gun will be best for the game, your opinions please. Springer XDM in .40 S&W M&PL or Pro 5in 9mm CZ-SP-01 9mm I will have trigger work done on which ever I get. Thank you,
  8. Smith Vortex + Any good comp is more than $125 so I think it is a good deal, I guess it depends also on your view of $125 to me that is peanuts, I can barely go out to eat and to the movie on that. Sad actually.
  9. Scroll down on the linked page and watch the three videos!!! http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/viewPrd...mp;idproduct=55
  10. I hoped adding the 111 degree rule would keep the perfectors from posting, oh well, I tried in a nice way, so now I say it, no plastic in a "not the way god meant for a handgun to be built glunk angle and platform". Haha, just kidding, I like glocks fine.
  11. I'm looking for the best one Gun for IPSC/IDPA Production, ESP, L-10, and maybe limited from time to time. I like the feel of a 1911 best, or at least the 111 degree grip angle. Suggestions?
  12. Just out of curiosity could you shoot a 5 inch Fat Free .45 in IDPA CDP?
  13. One thing that causes unrealiability in Sterys is heavy lube in the Firing Pin Area, I have heard of several owners doing this as well as my self when I first got the pistol. A gunsmith at the range noticed it right away took his shirt and dried excess oil out of the firing pin channel and never had another problem. Steyrs can need 400 rounds of breakin as well due to their tight tolerance and great accuracy. My Steyr is as accurate as my best Match 1911. Limp wristing can cause FTF in the first 400 rounds easliy with steyr and my 1911's that are match grade guns. My brother and another friend are very good at limp wristing due to their poor technique. If anything I would Steyr is the most reliable of all handguns I have owned. It is a steel reinforced polymer frame and has good chamber support.
  14. I own one of the old Steyr M40's it is a great gun for IDPA, I'm not a member of IPSC so I have not done that. Their is gentleman on the Steyrclub.com board that is tops in IDPA SSP nationally, he goes by the handle IDPASTEYR he uses a Steyr M9. I do not know if he had transitioned to the M9A1 yet? The Steyr M Series handguns are not very popular in the U.S. due to lack of Marketing but everyone who owns really, really, likes them. I'm 1911 guy and the Steyr is closest feel to that in plastic so thats why I bought it.
  15. My gunsmith has offered to build me a 1911 Limited in .40 without labor charges. I want to build one that works good but, it doesnt need super expensive name brand parts. Can you guys please help put together a parts list of decent reliable parts that won't break the bank. Please opine on what you would use keeping to the protocol. 1.
