  1. I'm pretty sure in IDPA the mag pouch just needs to be concealed. So it can be slightly forward depending on your cover garment . I found moving it way forward the angle the mag approached the gun was odd. It's hard to explain, but it's more of a straight line from my hip(ish) to the gun with everything aligned more naturally. I found not really more speed, but at least more consistency for me keeping the mags back some. Maybe like right at my hip bone, which is like 10:00 ish. So just a touch forward.
  2. The way IDPA rules are now I'm probably going to start running exactly the same gear in both. Maybe I'll add a magnet and just not use it in IDPA. Still working the kinks out of it. But right now I'm using DAA IDPA racer pouches with a boss hanger attached to a belt clip. I've pretty much always ran my gun around 3:00 so why change. Similarly my reloads seem better even with the pouch back a little. putting it right in the front never helped me. I'm kind of in the camp, it doesn't really matter so why waste money and effort to have a bunch of extra gear to keep track of. One setup all the time is simple. I'll use the same belt I wear every day and just leave my holster and mag pouch in my bag.
  3. In my area I feel like stages got worse, and are now getting better again. They are vary much gun up, on the trigger most of the time with pretty high HF's. Not really much running because you're probably shooting on the move or not moving more than a few steps before seeing the next target. 10 round mags on some of the stages I've shot this year would of just been annoying TBH. Hell I shot a sectional in PCC and was still annoyed by 2-3 position 32 round stages where you just hammered the trigger constantly. I think stages like that are murdering low cap divisions.
  4. I found threads here going back to 2010 talking about slide mounting dots on open 2011's. There may be older stuff but I think some of it's likely gone now. It's also worth noting old threads had a lot of talk about dots being a fad and now look at us.
  5. I can remember seeing open guns with slide mounted optics pre CO becoming a division. Not common though. Back in the 90's I think all the optics where to big to mount on the slide. Anyone know when the first slide ride optic showed up in uspsa? That'd be interesting history.
  6. Obviously I'm speaking broadly here. Everyone knows this are different from place to place. But many matches here in the US have much higher HF's than what seems to be common in ipsc. This means the style of shooting is different and likely plays into the popularity of hi-capacity mags. And their 15 is still a lot better than 10. Production would likely be more popular here with higher capacity mags. I've shot a lot of stages that would just be annoying to shoot with a low cap gun.
  7. I think you're likely right. I messaged my AD he told me to call him when I get a chance. Made me think he doesn't want to put anything in writing because it'll seem official. I could be wrong, but the way thing are right now with everything a director says getting posted all over IG I can't blame them.
  8. So you're saying that ipsc club matches overseas today look a lot like our club matches? That's the first I've heard that claim.
  9. This seems like fair punishment for the offense.
  10. Damn, bringing the heat. I'm classified in both of those and support your campaign.
  11. Chill man, it's just a game after all. No one really knows until the the BOD minutes are released. It does seem vary likely.
  12. It is a funny stance to say don't worry about what others shoot even though you worry about what others shoot if they shoot a division you don't like.
  13. Couldn't you pick a division now, dump all your tricked out guns and buy the most efficient gear for one division and just train? This seems like a excuse to not train. We don't need a new division for someone to focus on one set of gear. That said, I wouldn't do that now. It'd be silly to pick a division knowing a new division is likely coming in some form. I'm going to call my AD later and see what I can get out of him.
  14. It's certainly something, I've got a good 10k primers that even a 15 lbs hammer spring in a CZ wont light 100%. A 2011 with a better trigger will though. Not sure that's a reason for a new division, but it's a thing.
  15. Limited Optics is the word on the streetz.
  16. First don't they do 15 in the gun not 10 like our production? So they started out with better mag capacity. 2nd, you'll never shoot a 10 stage IPSC match with all 32 round stages. All their short courses and medium courses are going to make 15 rounds less of a issue. Plus there is more movement giving your more time to reload. And finally from what I understand in a lot of the world it can be challenging to get custom guns and major ammo. Vary much a apples to oranges comparison to read from their production turn out anything about our capacity rules.
  17. Was it a plastic fantastic or their new aluminum fantastic?
  18. Bug would be the easy pick. But CDP is pretty weak too, so it's Revolver. If we had to kill a division any of those would be good choices. Really, most matches are basically CO matches these days.
  19. I would think good if you shot that match, bad if you didn't. More so in ipsc where you can't pre walk stages. Imagine only getting 3-5 min to walk a 32 round stage with a 15 man. Meanwhile some guys not only walked the stage before but shot it once. Does it really matter probably depends on how many stages and what exactly "near" identical means. At a minimum it can give you a little boost of confidence having shot a stage before. Especially one with activators. Most IDPA clubs around here "test" their stages for majors several times leading up to the match. I know from experience being the first shooter on a stage with a tricky activator I've already shot was a lot less stressful then it would of been if it was the first time I'd seen it.
  20. From what I've seen most people don't carry guns with comps. Social media groups are certainly full of pics of these kinds of things. But just like your average gun owner will never shoot a competition, they'll also never join a Facebook group and post a photo of the CCW gear. Generally the people that do want some attention, and a stock gun isn't going to get that. So the obvious solution is add a bunch of stuff to the gun then post photo's. Building a division for these guys might not be a good move. I think we need to be careful with how we decide what the market is. Comps probably make more sense in IDPA than they do in daily carry.
  21. Maybe they could do it provisionally like ipsc does and if no one shoots it just kill the idea. I think both games might have to many divisions already, so I'm not huge on adding more. The likely result will be CO looses a few shooters to this new division. CO is pretty popular in IDPA in part I think because of the high accuracy requirement the dot is a big deal. And you can easily just add one to any gun. A comped division is going to need a new holster, barrel, plus the comp. Then you may need different recoil springs to get the gun running. Plus you'll likely want to tune your load or you're not really taking advantage of the new comp. It's a lot of effort for little to no gain. So I think it'll grow vary slowly. I certainly wouldn't count on this change bringing people into the sport. If we did it, I'd like to see it be required to fit in the current CO box and weight. It should also have a higher PF, maybe 135? This would be more inline with actual self defense ammunition's. Fitting the same box will mean you need to give up barrel length and velocity to add ports on your comp. Certainly no need in letting guns get any bigger than they already are. The tricky part might be if you make it to restrictive no one will shoot it. Why move from CO to CC (comped carry) if you're not going to gain a advantage?
  22. If you click high available in competitor app you'll see some names you recognize.
  23. I have a set of base pads I printed and used for a whole season. Granted I don't shoot on concrete much but I did test drop them several times. I found PLA and PETG failed. A soft TPU seemed to absorb the impact but flexed to much and I was able to rip the base pad off mid stage when pulling a mag from my belt. Then I moved to a harder TPU and that seemed to do the trick. Plus I bulked up the pad in some areas. But, just getting some aluminum ones is way simpler and will work better long term.
  24. That's the key right "calibrated steel". So if your the first shooter of the day great. Every other shooter is just assuming it's still calibrated until one time it doesn't fall. Somewhere along the way it went from calibrated to not. The higher your pf the less that calibration drift is going to matter. I would imagine everyone has seen a piece of steel in a match that every knows is heavy so you plan to double tap it no matter what. Our of calibration steel is just part of the game.
