  1. I think I'm going to pick one of these up, probably the 4.25. I don't live in a vary free state, we can't buy them yet. Probably early next year we'll be allowed to own these.
  2. Think about this, If the Lee U die sizes .003 smaller why would that lead to more rounds failing the gauge? Smaller generally doesn't make them fail the gauge, bigger does. I wouldn't think it's more likely a combination of the .356 and the heavier the bullet the longer it is. A longer bullet with the same OAL is pushed farther down into the tapered case and could lead to more bulge, and at some point it'll cause issues. Maybe a longer oal would help. Are the 147's you have less trouble with also .356? Do you use the same OAL? If yes, the main difference here would the 160 is pushed deeper into the case.
  3. If you run brass for like a year, dryfiring every day. Then compare it to a new set you might be surprised how much the texture gets worn down. Brass is pretty soft too.
  4. Did you read the thread? Let me recap,@LordManHammersaid "it appears many of the stages at World's are near identical to the Asian IPSC Handgun Championship" then @rowdybasked if that was a bad thing or not. I was responding to that. If the stages were reused, then that would mean anyone who shot the Asian Championship had already seen, walked and shot those stages before. I have no doubt that would be a advantage. As I said, I've shot stages at majors that were nearly identical to ones I'd shot before. It at a minimum gives you a mental edge and a significant portion of these games is mental. Shooting activators ahead of time can be a even bigger advantage.
  5. I think the rifle stuff I mentioned would be doable. I shot some 600 yard benchrest but they do it from 100-1000 typically. To do well back then you'd probably need to average under 2" groups at 600. I saw some sub 1" groups. But some of that depends on the conditions of the day. The gun sits in a rest you don't really need to do a ton with it. Most of the winning comes from preparation. A good gun with a good barrel. Then you need to work up a load that's pretty spot on and finally you need to read the wind. There is also 22 LR benchrest which can be fun too. All of this is expensive. F-Class is similar, but you lay on the ground and shoot from a bi-pod. Hi-power you loose the bi-pod. not sure how that would go with the vertigo and stabilization issues. I've never tried this myself.
  6. I have one currently sitting on a 22. Seems fine, but could stand if it could get a little brighter. Pretty tempted to put one on the slide of a 9mm just to see what happens.
  7. What is it about shooting you can't do? You could shift to, high power, f-class or benchrest if you like rifle shooting. It's still shooting, just with out all the running around stuff. Photography can be fun.
  8. I've got a couple STI frames where the pin holes aren't right. If you try to drop something into them you'll just be running on one hammer hook. It's a pretty big PIA to get it working right. If one of those guns ever needs a new trigger I'm going to try the Nighthawk setup where it's all contained so my s#!tty pin holes don't matter. But, I think they only yield a 3 lbs trigger or so. Really, that's fine but it's not spectacular. It's a cool concept.
  9. I've moved to Go Fast Don't Suck Jersey's. They sponsor a lot of matches and do ton for the community. And their jersey's are nice, they're a little less than Techware and don't charge you for every logo you add like techware does. They're about $80 now, vs someone above said they paid 120-150 for techware. A lot of matches in the east Bill (GFDS) is likely supplying the match with tablets, timers, and wifi for instant scoring uploads to PS. Shooters like it, and it's one less thing for the MD to worry about.
  10. Looks like a slide, threaded barrel, comp, flashlight, magwell and trigger. Stipple job looks pretty good. It shouldn't be hard to do at all really, it is a glock. Stippling is the only part that would take any skill. Talon grips would be easier.
  11. I'm pretty sure in IDPA the mag pouch just needs to be concealed. So it can be slightly forward depending on your cover garment . I found moving it way forward the angle the mag approached the gun was odd. It's hard to explain, but it's more of a straight line from my hip(ish) to the gun with everything aligned more naturally. I found not really more speed, but at least more consistency for me keeping the mags back some. Maybe like right at my hip bone, which is like 10:00 ish. So just a touch forward.
  12. The way IDPA rules are now I'm probably going to start running exactly the same gear in both. Maybe I'll add a magnet and just not use it in IDPA. Still working the kinks out of it. But right now I'm using DAA IDPA racer pouches with a boss hanger attached to a belt clip. I've pretty much always ran my gun around 3:00 so why change. Similarly my reloads seem better even with the pouch back a little. putting it right in the front never helped me. I'm kind of in the camp, it doesn't really matter so why waste money and effort to have a bunch of extra gear to keep track of. One setup all the time is simple. I'll use the same belt I wear every day and just leave my holster and mag pouch in my bag.
  13. In my area I feel like stages got worse, and are now getting better again. They are vary much gun up, on the trigger most of the time with pretty high HF's. Not really much running because you're probably shooting on the move or not moving more than a few steps before seeing the next target. 10 round mags on some of the stages I've shot this year would of just been annoying TBH. Hell I shot a sectional in PCC and was still annoyed by 2-3 position 32 round stages where you just hammered the trigger constantly. I think stages like that are murdering low cap divisions.
  14. I found threads here going back to 2010 talking about slide mounting dots on open 2011's. There may be older stuff but I think some of it's likely gone now. It's also worth noting old threads had a lot of talk about dots being a fad and now look at us.
  15. I can remember seeing open guns with slide mounted optics pre CO becoming a division. Not common though. Back in the 90's I think all the optics where to big to mount on the slide. Anyone know when the first slide ride optic showed up in uspsa? That'd be interesting history.
  16. Obviously I'm speaking broadly here. Everyone knows this are different from place to place. But many matches here in the US have much higher HF's than what seems to be common in ipsc. This means the style of shooting is different and likely plays into the popularity of hi-capacity mags. And their 15 is still a lot better than 10. Production would likely be more popular here with higher capacity mags. I've shot a lot of stages that would just be annoying to shoot with a low cap gun.
  17. I think you're likely right. I messaged my AD he told me to call him when I get a chance. Made me think he doesn't want to put anything in writing because it'll seem official. I could be wrong, but the way thing are right now with everything a director says getting posted all over IG I can't blame them.
  18. So you're saying that ipsc club matches overseas today look a lot like our club matches? That's the first I've heard that claim.
  19. This seems like fair punishment for the offense.
  20. Damn, bringing the heat. I'm classified in both of those and support your campaign.
  21. Chill man, it's just a game after all. No one really knows until the the BOD minutes are released. It does seem vary likely.
  22. It is a funny stance to say don't worry about what others shoot even though you worry about what others shoot if they shoot a division you don't like.
  23. Couldn't you pick a division now, dump all your tricked out guns and buy the most efficient gear for one division and just train? This seems like a excuse to not train. We don't need a new division for someone to focus on one set of gear. That said, I wouldn't do that now. It'd be silly to pick a division knowing a new division is likely coming in some form. I'm going to call my AD later and see what I can get out of him.
  24. It's certainly something, I've got a good 10k primers that even a 15 lbs hammer spring in a CZ wont light 100%. A 2011 with a better trigger will though. Not sure that's a reason for a new division, but it's a thing.
