  1. It probably doesn't really matter. That said, I really do like my 2011's I always have. So I'll switch to one if/when the rule changes and not look back.
  2. IDPA scoring is so drastically different that uspsa. All that really matters there is acuracy. Imainge every stage at a match having a HHF of 2. That's IDPA. Equipment doesn't matter because it's bullseye with vests. Not to mention the skill level at a typical local IDPA match is vary low. I've won several with a 365 and a P01 but I have vary little chance against guys at my level in USPSA CO with those guns. Vary much a apples to oranges comparison.
  3. I also carry a P01 with a optic. It feels a lot like having a full size CZ.
  4. That post was at least sort of a joke. I say sort of because I'm 100% sure that shortly after we either change CO or make a new division we will start talking about another new change.
  5. So basically opinions are fine as long as they agree with you. Like your sport/game as it is? To bad you're wrong and need to get over it because SAO is fair no matter what you think. The point here is you need to get the people who shoot CO and don't want this on your side. Saying they're just wrong isn't the best move to attract them IMO. All they're going to do is email their AD and tell them they oppose it. Which will lead us back to the new division idea.
  6. I see more and more posts on social media of guys putting comps and ports on carry guns, especially the staccato's we're trying to bring in here. It seem like a natural progression to allow those things a couple years after we allow SAO. I mean it is "carry" optics and those timmys say they carry those things. Who am I to argue? Plus, Nils will still win with a canik so how can you disagree really?
  7. It's interesting how if someone doesn't like the idea they're wrong and need to justify themselves. It's all opinions and we're not all going to agree and no one needs to justify their opinion to anyone else. If someone likes CO as it is and shoots it, and feels it's going to screw up the division doesn't mean their opinion isn't valid. Certainly not any more valid then someone who wants to completely change the division other people enjoy.
  8. That would be the play IMO. But, I'm not going to hold my breath for it lol.
  9. I think you're right, now I've only shot one match in SSP that's it. But at that match 4 stages were 16 rounds and 2 where 17. Both 17 round stages I chose to tac load. With a 10 round gun you almost never really need to tac load. I also noticed on the 16 round stages I had to be more careful and couldn't make up a down 1 if I shot one as much as I wanted to. It certainly didn't feel like a advantage and really made the stages kind of tricky to figure out. And the 16 round stages are vary risky. Breaking them down with a 10 round gun seems easy. Maybe that's just because I've been shooting 10 rounds for 10 years. I don't know.
  10. I think there are probably a few who think like you do. It doesn't really matter what people on enos think or how well Nils does. If some random dude at a club match feels outgunned he's going to bitch to the AD and they're going to have to listen to it. People with negative feelings are way more likely to contact their AD's. If we do want the SAO guns (including the 10k 2011's) in CO and not in a new division we're going to need to convince the BOD that their not going to catch a bunch of s#!t for it after the fact. And with all the s#!t they've caught lately that might be a hard sell. It would also help is CZ and Glock etc. came out and said they we're on board with more competition because they know their products can stand up to it. Those are big sponsors, and we don't want to risk upsetting sponsors in our attempt to gain new sponsors. But, sponsors will likely see more divisions as a good thing. I think the BOD will see a new division will as the safer more diplomatic move.
  11. I think I spelled it out pretty well why it might go that way. I'm not saying its the best option but giving the intent (please sponsors) adding a division will do a better job. You also are less likely to get backlash from existing CO shooters who like the division they are shooting and the rules they are shooting under. Remember, we're dealing with a BOD who are elected and have to listen to us bitch constantly. With a new division if you bitch they can just say "if you don't like it, don't shoot LO". Put the two divisions head to head and let them duke it out. If the membership prefers one over the other it will be apparent in a few years time. The end result should be the same. If everyone adds a magwell and jumps into LO we've essentially gotten our SAO-CO just in a round about way. You're basically killings the currently CO without ever needing to vote to kill the division. Edit to add, I also don't think the current admin really cares about how many divisions we have, or "watering down" or any of that. This is seen as a hobby for fun and not a competition by many. If you don't care about the competitive aspect of USPSA you wont care how many divisions we have. Just another reason adding a division will likely be seen as a safer move then changing the current most popular division in the game. This is fairly typical way for things run by BOD's to work.
  12. Limited Optics is the most logical solution. Think about. Add a division, this adds a national and adds sponsorship opportunities without stepping on the toes of existing sponsors. I think the direction of the org, this is a huge selling point and likely reason enough to not mess with CO and just add a division. Plus if we add SAO to CO we'll need to discuss adding it to Prod since the two are tied together. Now, lets say the fans of adding SAO (and magwells) to existing CO are right and the guns are equal. Then what should happen is most shooters in CO will want to just add a magwell to their gun. So the existing CO shooters will slowly move from CO to Limited Optics. Give it two or three years and Limited Optics will be the biggest division and CO will slowly become a hider division too. If that happens what have we done? Well if you think about it we basically added SAO to CO but it took 3 years and let people choose it vs treating it like a bandaid and shoving them into CO. The end result is really the same. Ideally we'd then kill the OG CO in 3 to 5 years, but we've never done that in the past so I don't know that we'll start now. Worst case is we split CO in half and have two smaller divisions making up about 20% of the sport vs one that's 40%. I'm not sure people would see this as a bad thing.
  13. This is true too. I like hitting up a IDPA match and shooting 5 stages in 3 maybe 4 hours tops. Vs going to a 5 stage uspsa match and getting there at 8 am and leaving a 2 in the afternoon if everything goes smoothly.
  14. If the concern is you're not shooting enough, another solution is more stages. It might mean you need to be creative, to fit two stages in every bay but it can be done. In fact it's easier to do under the current restriction to 18 rounds. One club near me (2 hour drive each way) puts on a vary good IDPA match on a 3 bay range. Last week we shot 6 stages, I think the round count was about 100 assuming you didn't take any extra shots. Which in IDPA we know everyone round dumps a little. One concern is bigger isn't really better. A lame stage design that's 24 rounds is worse than one that's 18. And a good stage can quickly turn crappy if the builder just starts adding more targets to pad the round count. I really can't wait for stages to go from little clusters of 6,6,6 to just 8,8,8 woohoo we're having fun now. Or even better just "hey this round count isn't enough make it 3 per". Instantly it's a 30% improvement in stage design...clearly.
  15. Matches don't really tell you if you're improving anyway. If you shoot a match and finish 75% of the winner. Then you come back 6 months later and shoot again and finish 75% of the same guy did you improve? Well, first we'd need to know did he improve too? Did he have a off day last time? What if your draws and reloads are faster, overall you HF was better you made less mistakes etc. But you still only manage 70% this time. Did you get worse? Ultimately, matches or just practicing you need to be really engaged in what you're doing to know if you're improving or not.
  16. Certainly he's a extreme, especially considering the short amount of time he did it in. Although what he did would be much easier now with the information we have today. You could just buy his book, and if you worked until you could hit the goal times at the highest level you'd be better than most USPSA shooters even if you've never shot a match. But my point in mentioning him is you 100% can improve and tell if you're improving with out going to a match. All a match really does is tell you how you stacked up against others that day.
  17. It's not that hard to tell, especially with the information out there today. In dry fire use par times to tell if you're getting faster. Use known standards. We have a whole database of classifiers you can set up in practice and compare to how others have done and track your practice. You can watch video of shooters better than you and compare it to video of yourself and what you're doing. These days there are a lot of books and online recourses that make it much easier than it used to be. Look at Stoeger, I believe he made GM at his first match. Not because he was just a natural. But he researched what it would take to be good then worked on that stuff over the winter and when the weather broke and matches started up in his area he instantly made Master in IDPA followed by GM in USPSA. So, you don't really need to shoot matches to tell if you're getting better or not. I think the best move for most is lots of training with limited matches. 1 a month is a good number, it gives you 4 weeks to work on things then put them to the test. More isn't really bad, unless you start slacking on the training to do matches. And once you have the raw skills, but maybe are lacking the mental game more matches will probably be beneficial.
  18. For some people the enjoyment comes from getting better and doing well. Not practicing you wont really get better. I don't know that saying you want to save money means you're in the wrong hobby either. Someone could spend more than you and still be trying to save money. Maybe they want to use their money wisely and not just piss it away. Different strokes.
  19. Everything depends. I have a buddy that doesn't live fire or dry fire practice and only shoots matches. He shoots probably 6-10 matches in a month some times. He's pretty good. I've never been able to do that. I can dryfire everyday and I can get to the range once a week and shoot a few hundred rounds plus get in a match or maybe two a month. It's worked pretty well for me. Currently I'm not really practicing at all and maybe shoot a match a month. I can still manage to finish near the top, probably due to years of putting in the work. Now this does make classification a challenge. I've shot 3 classifiers so far in 2022. 4 if you count Area 6 as a classifier. At this rate it would take me a couple years to move up. But, I don't really care to move up anyway.
  20. If it's a tough shot I'm doing 2. But for most things it's 3 but with the closer it is the less I care about the rear sight at all.
  21. I would probably calculate my price based on the cost to replace the primers I'm using not what was paid for them. Unless you don't plan to replace them and are just going to burn up your stock and stop shooting. The primers your using are worth 10 cents even if you paid 3.
  22. $70 shipping seems high on a case of ammo.
  23. 1. probably isn't happening. IDPA has no control over that, but I get you. I think the system showing HOA probably creates some issues. 2. I kind of like the idea TBH. Makes it interesting, I do this a lot at IDPA matches. Though you could make a case you should be able to twiddle with it off the clock if you do it with out looking. I can adjust my carry gun up if I'm going out in the bright sun or down entering a dark area with out looking at it if I want to. But I doubt this could be enforced fairly. 3. Searchlights? Are we talking WML's? Every low light match I've ever shot hand held or WML you started with the light off and turned it on after the beep. Back in the day you had to turn the light off while reloading. That was interesting too.
