  1. Maybe 320 shooters should just start keeping a steel plate in their pocket. Just in case.
  2. My local IDPA club has had two people shoot themselves while holstering this year. Both were earlier in the year. Both were 320's, no idea about upgrades. Likely clothing got into the trigger guard and the only safety is don't pull the trigger so... I doubt either of those went off on their own and no one ever claimed they did. Even if someone says they saw it happen doesn't mean they saw it correctly. It's amazing how easily we can see something wrong and swear by it. A stupid example that sticks with me. At a IDPA match a buddy and I were watching another friend shoot a stage. We both saw the same thing and we both swore he did it wrong and got lucky to not get a PE. After reviewing the video we were both wrong even though we were standing their watching and 100% agreed on what we saw and with out a doubt we were right. It was kind of eye opening really.
  3. I think what bugs me is I know it's the MD's but they'll say it's the range. I know it's the MD because if I go to the same range for a upas match I can do what I want lol.
  4. It is a bit of a exaggeration to say no clubs sure. In this area there is one club I've found which is essentially no clubs it's about 2 hours away. Every major match on PS that's within about 8 hours drive from here will not allow them. Maybe it's a east coast thing. If someone shows up to a match thinking it's allowed they may vary well be wrong.
  5. If you started in IDPA it's not surprising you'd like it more. I started there too and still shoot it today. They both have positives and negatives to me. I think if IDPA went back to 1/2 second scoring it would be a lot better. Full second makes it a little slow. I like that my carry gear is more competitive in IDPA, I just wish they'd really allow AIWB instead of just saying it's allowed in the rules and no clubs actually allowing it. lol Are you shooting Liberty match this weekend?
  6. It should be like a sunset clause, if we don't see X participation it auto nukes itself at a certain date. It should easily hit any participation number we set based on it being what everyone wants. I don't see that being a thing though.
  7. I think it's feasible. I want to find one with a tight chamber that wont feed and buy it cheap. I have a finish reamer and a throating reamer, so that's easily solved. I can tune the extractor pretty easy. Probably dump all the trigger parts and replace them. Slap on a optic and a mag well and go shoot IDPA with it or something. Most people can't do this stuff and will either spend a bunch getting their gun tuned or fight with malfunctions. At that point the canik is probably better, guns gotta work 100%.
  8. You're right, and really there is no need for a CO gun to be any more than that. But, I think the addition of 2011's might tip the scale more to the higher end of those numbers. A plastic grip, bull barrel, full dust cover with a pretty light mag well is tight to make the IDPA 45 oz rule. Most people here seem to really like the steel grips which will put the guns a little over 50 oz depending on the magwell. Now, maybe people start using aluminum grips, or bushing barrels to cut weight for minor guns. All the gun builders will be telling us why their idea is the best way to skin the cat.
  9. I don't like the idea of new divisions, but it's potentially the better solution. Adding a new division gives the guys who want a division for their gun a division. It also give the guys who want CO left alone the division they want. On top of that sponsors are going to like having another division for their pro shooter to win. We can then bring in Staccato without CZ or Glock feeling like they got hosed. And if as many people want SAO-CO then the division will flourish. I would imagine the two CO divisions would still be the top two. Open and limited will suffer the most. Given the goals of the org, and the fact that we have a BOD that is elected and isn't going to want to piss off to many people. I think this is the most probably outcome. It's the nature of the beast.
  10. Yeah, if you're coming from IDPA it can be a bit of a eye opener as to how much faster paced the game is and the level of the shooters.
  11. This is a interesting point. The guns currently in CO in your opinion are s#!tty. And you're point how how people just wan to shoot good guns. Which is vary different than the past points about how these CO guns are just as good. I can think of several guys who would immediately jump to a 2011 because they think it's better. I know I can shoot my 2011 better than I can my current CO gun. It's easier to shoot, end of story. But, we're making the case that all the equipment is equal and those people who can't afford to jump to a new non "s#!tty" gun just need to suck it up because they can still shoot their s#!t gun if they want to. Who cares what they think anyway. Stupid poors. That's where we are at now.
  12. No, you can't say Nils proves striker guns are equal, but he doesn't prove minor is competitive. Pick one.
  13. 100% this is cherry picking to make a dishonest point. Nils shooting iron sights with 140 mm mags and minor in a striker fired gun finishing behind 31 open shooters does not prove that minor 2011's should be in CO and not open.
  14. To say the BOD made a bad decision originally in creating what is now the most popular division in the sport might not be a accurate statement. If this was still a provisional division and wasn't vary popular the case to change it would be much stronger IMO. Getting here was rocky, but now this is the biggest division in the game and we want to fix it. It doesn't need to be fixed.
  15. It's nice that we can still shoot our current CO guns in the new division that's being created so you don't have to shoot your gun in the division you don't want to. What could also change is the attitude of those who feel this is being forced on them.
  16. We can say this but that doesn't make it true. The Org put out rules, people who like the rules go out and spend thousands of dollars of hard earned money to but the gear to fit the rules. This is the biggest division and many of these people are happy and don't want it to change. To change the equipment rules is to say "screw you and the money you spent". You just don't say that part out loud. But the action says it for you. The opposite isn't really the same, I don't care that someone spent thousands on a 2011 minor gun. The org. didn't create a rule set that forced you into that firearm. You chose to buy one because you like it, right? And you can still shoot it if you want to. I have one, I'll shoot it if I want but I don't need a special division for it.
  17. Look at 3.10.1.3 Dropping a flashlight does not incur a penalty...This rule does not exempt dropped firearms. Why would that bit at the end exist if we couldn't have a light on the firearm? 8.9.4.1 May not be attached to the shooters head, hand, wrist, or arm in any fashion. Doesn't say may not be attached to firearm 8.9.4.2 Suitable for EDC minimum lumens of 60. A WML fits all of these rules. So while it's not specifically saying you can use a WML I think they're trying to imply that you can.
  18. It's not really spelled out. It says something like "must be suitable for carry" where the old rules said something like "must be hand held". I look it up
  19. I love this, open is open. Your gun is fine in open but you want to shoot it there against those guns. But you're also going to make the case that my gun will still allowed be in CO whether I want to shoot against 2011's or not. It's exactly the same, you just want your thing to be allowed where you want it and screw what anyone else thinks. Edit, and don't say major scoring. If Nils shooting a striker gun is proof 2011's should be in CO then it's also proof you can shoot your minor 2011 in open if you want to.
  20. Yes they setup the day before and tear down can happen after the time limit just no more shooting. Hammer down is 10, so your walk through is before and first shooter is up the second they can shoot. It's tight, sometimes down to the wire. But, this is why when I hear about needing new divisions to "grow the sport" I can't help but laugh. Around here the sport really can't grow. For new people to come in, others need to leave.
  21. I think the snag here is we'll say Nils is so good he made up for shooting minor but at the same time it's not possible that him and Mason could also be overcoming a equipment disadvantage at the same time. The entire case for SAO-CO is built on this.
  22. Same goes for you must shoot major in Limited. Clearly that's debunked now too.
  23. Imagine this match, tell me if you'd shoot it. 3 Bays, probably 4 stages. Likely no classifier. So only 3 squads. 18-20 shooters per squad. Must be done by 1:00 it's a hard stop curfew. So far while I've been there they've never stopped with out finishing. Not sure how that's handled. I'd guess toss a stage of DNF some shooters. I think a lot of guys here would think that sounds crazy, but that match will be full with a waiting list to get in.
  24. My reading of it is yes, I put one on my gun and will be running it at level 3 this weekend with low light stages. So, I guess I'll find out if I'm the only one who reads it that way.
