  1. I'm game, But I wonder if Limited_Minor kills regular limited after a few years or not. I'm to the point I don't really care, I just think it might happen. Limited is suffering already, and isn't like half the participation minor already? I could also see some CO shooters dump the optic to go to L-minor. Also not really a bad thing.
  2. This sounds like a division I want to be good at.
  3. Any recommendations for software for putting together match video? I used to just use windows movie maker but that's not on windows anymore. And what's comes on my current PC's you can trim video but I don't see how to splice a couple clips together. Not really looking to do anything fancy here.
  4. Can the rear sight be removed from that plate?
  5. Now you can use your 320 maxwell without shooting open.
  6. I agree, and my hope was that spelling out what it might put it in perspective what it might take to pull it off. The part left off is that if we do this like every other sport, then we'll probably see the same result as every other sport. The only category that will matter is the Men's. No one will care which of the two ladies won Ladies-CO. And those ladies will never get the chance to prove themselves against the men. Maybe this would make more sense if women made up more of the sport, but what are we talking about here? 1% on the high end?
  7. Are we behind the times? Or ahead of the curve? Today women are supposed to be able to do anything a man can. Not to mention than men can identify as women and compete head to head with the women in much more physical sports than ours. Seriously though the only way I think this would work is if we completely eliminated the overall win for divisions. Everyone would need to be in a category, we'd need to add one that's just standard men's to move forward. So now every division gets first divided into categories, then divided by classification. You can win your category but there can be no overall. If we're adjusting the scoring based on your perceived advantages or disadvantages due to age and gender, then we can't go head to head unless we get a perfect balance in scoring which I don't think can happen. So we must keep everything completely separate. Is splitting our 8 divisions into 80 divisions a good move? Then with in those 80 divisions we have 6 classifications or do we dump classifications? Keep them now we've divided the sport into close to 500 potential titles at any given match. Maybe we reduce the number of categories, to help offset this. Are we big enough to need this or even pull it off? What will we gain? There is a sectional registration just opened for in my area and it's full. I see 13 ladies split between 8 divisions. Should those 13 ladies get 8 divisions of there own to pick from? Or do we want to just say they can shoot minor scored major and that'll "fix" the problem? Do we do the same for seniors? Should Rob L. get to shoot SS nationals with a 10 round minor gun scored major because he's to old? Should Justine of been scored major at PCC nationals to balance the scales? Would she even want that? Seems like a super tricky thing to get right at a risk of really messing things up. So completely separate seems like the only option to me.
  8. If you have something great I'm sure you could sell the idea to Atlas or Infinity etc. and make some money with out ever needing to start a business. But, really a you can get sub 2 lbs with traditional triggers, You only really dropped 3oz from your own trigger, so the juice may not be worth the squeeze. I've certainly not spending any money trying to drop my triggers 3 oz. Personally about 2 lbs is as light as I really want to go anyway. And I'm not opposed to shooting 3+ pounds really.
  9. I wonder if some of the difference is you get to shoot half day matches. I've only shot that at nationals. Every match in this area is 10+ stages in one day. And obviously the standard tough guy stuff .
  10. Is that like a 320 fcu? Is the serial number on the grip or that part?
  11. It's amazing what that can accomplish on a stage that's backed up. One year at a Area match a stage fell behind, probably a REF or similar. The MD pulled me to go down there and help, all I did was reset all the steel. The guys working the stage we're pasting. Maybe a squad and a half they were caught up and back on schedule and waiting for the next squad. Then I went back to my job. That match was 13-14 stages in one day. If one falls behind it could be a disaster really.
  12. Competitors don't really get a break unless there is a back up somewhere or a hard stop lunch. The years I worked Area 8 staff got to shoot for free, hotel was covered but you had to share a room. You got a match jersey maybe 2 I don't remember now. Lunch everyday from Southern Bobby-Q. The day you shot you got a prize from the competitor prize table. Then there was a staff dinner with a staff prize table (I made sure staff had good stuff) and typically a small gift of some sort. I was the sponsor coordinator, so my job was about 10 months of work, but I didn't have as much to once the match go going. Although occasionally I'd get pulled to go help reset stages that we're falling behind. If I had the time I used to, I'd volunteer as a dedicated resetter, s#!t that'd be easy in comparison. Maybe when the kid gets bigger, if he wants to shoot we might have to work some matches. That'll be a few years down the road.
  13. It would certainly need to vary by stage. Most matches I go to have more than 3 without staff reset that was just a example. You certainly don't need to double the staff as has been implied in this thread. It'd be helpful if someone who runs these matches could chime in. There are several staff reset matches down in Area 6. I'm not in that area so I've only shot 2 of them in the past. I don't recall seeing anymore staff per stage then I do when competitors reset the entry fee wasn't any higher. I did notice every stage had more than one paster gun running. I don't know how they pull it off, but it seems to be working well for them. Last year I skipped our Area match and went to A6 instead, probably doing that again this year.
  14. Damn I didn't know about that one, I like 3 moa and at 179 that's a hard optic to beat.
  15. Ever shoot a standards stage with a 12 man squad and 3 staff so you have 15 people walking down to paste 3 targets? It's an amazing waste of time and energy.
  16. That is true kind of. Typically if only 1-2 competitors are resetting I hear RO's yelling for people to help. This leads to everyone getting up and walking down to paste 1 target or even just walk around and do nothing because the stage is small and easy to reset. It's so horrible inefficient. But you have to look busy all day. I heard one of the sectionals I didn't attend was experimenting with having the last two shooters reset. So you would shoot, reset twice then hand off the pasters. This seems like it could be a nice middle ground where everyone gets a little time to rest, everyone puts in less steps and everyone has to help and we don't need staff reset. But, I think if you just try that at a match the staff will be yelling pasters all day long with they see 10 people sitting on their asses and 2 people pasting.
  17. Seems like a missed opportunity to not recommend known quality products to these people. Sure they may not be in charge of buying them for their club, but they're more than likely the most active people at that club and one would think they know who does buy that stuff. We have official match ammo (that doesn't need to make PF) why don't we have a list of official match poppers for level 2+ matches?
  18. Anyone ever end up on the squad from hell? I shot Area 8 once, there was one "super squad" guy to not name names. Plus 2 or 3 juniors and their dad. It's been a while. It was a regular occurrence at that match to see the juniors bugging the pro while dad was standing their listening. That alone tied up half our squad not resetting. There were times during the day me and my wife were the only ones resetting the stage while she was on deck and I was in the hole. I'll avoid a squad with more than one junior or a family like the plague now. You end up on the wrong squad and you're in for a long s#!tty day.
  19. Matches here that are $175 are not staff reset.
  20. I haven't paid that low of a entry fee for a USPSA major match ever. This year all the sectionals in this area are $160-$175, I imagine the Area match will be $200+ Area 6 is $255. Some IDPA matches in the area are still sub $100 but a lot less goes into those than a USPSA match.
  21. It would be pretty stage dependent I think. But 3 guys can get a lot done. One calling scores, one on the tablet, on right behind them with a paster gun. One guy with a paster gun can damn near keep up with the scoring, I know because I've done it as a competitor. Once they call the last target the timer RO can paste that with a paster gun and work back towards the guy coming behind them. Having a 4th guy would hurt, especially if you have steel or activators. Once everyone has a job and knows exactly what targets they reset you can get really efficient with less people. I've been to area matches with 4 or more guys working the stage. When resetting they typically watch and make sure you get everything and yell at you if the squad isn't resetting fast enough. The way we do it with 6-8 of the shooters on the squad going down and randomly resetting targets is so inefficient and inevitably leads to some reshoots for targets either not reset or pasted before they were scored etc. Staff reset pretty much eliminates that stuff from what I've seen.
  22. It seems like a interesting place to be. You're so big on helping reset all day you wont work a match where you'd have to reset all day.
  23. I have trouble keeping track of conditions, I prefer to think the gun is either loaded or it's not and just not do all the silly stuff in between I just don't do.
