  1. Racer, HS-6 is a little dirty too, if you're willing to spend the money, go with 3n38, if not use Autocomp or Silhouette
  2. Barrel: http://eaacorp.com/gun_accessories/index.php/parts/tanfoglio/witness/barrels/6-match-grade-barrel-9mm-302331.html Comp: https://www.ericgrauffelonlineshop.com/en/compensators/95-gold-custom-eric-compensator.html It looks like the comp is out of stock, but I may be able to help
  3. A time bomb?!? Is it possible you're being a little dramatic? You also reference "so many close calls", can you give an example? Granted I've only been shooting 9 major a little under five years, but I have experienced nothing more dramatic than a stepped case coming apart, nor have spoken to anyone who has experience a 9 major mishap which caused permanent damage to personal or property. Have you experienced something like that? Vihtavuori lists a 9x21 major load which can be loaded in a 9x19 case: 9.4gr of 3n38 under a 115gr JHP at 1.161" for 171pf (which happens to be my favorite load). I'm willing to assume Vihtavuori would not publish a load which didn't fall within SAAMI specifications for pressure, would you call that a same assumption?
  4. From 9mm to .40 you will need a .40 slide as the 9mm breech face is too small, if you go .40 to 9mm you can get away with the same slide.
  5. I can't imagine the CZC full sized one won't work, you'll just have to cut the grips to fit.
  6. I suppose I could explain further ? As I am aware, Tanfoglio never made any small frame Gold Teams, but even if they did, I don't know of a 170mm pad for large or small frame guns. To the best of my knowledge, your only option for a true 170mm mag is two mags welded together. The only 170mm base pad I'm aware of for a factory-length mag in the CZ 75 platform is Scott Springer's for the Czechmate. The CM only shares mags with the Tactical Sports and is neither a large frame, nor a traditional small frame. Some info on the difference: The terms "small frame" and "large frame" refer to the caliber the pistol was designed for. Small frame pistols were designed around the 9x19 cartridge, and were later adapted for other small frame calibers: .40 S&W, .357 SIG, .41 AE, etc.; large frame pistols were designed around the .45 ACP, then adapted for .38 Super, 10mm, 9x25 Dillon, ect. Large frame pistols can be chambered in small frame calibers (e.g. 19/2011, Tanfoglio Witness) but not vise versa. Because it's designed for large frame calibers, the CZ 97 is longer from front to back, but the TS is a hair wider.
  7. The most pleasurable load is not always the fastest
  8. CFD comp, Cyborg slide, steel grip, looks like a sweet shooter!
  9. I don't see how a pistol with a heavier muzzle will help muzzle dip, try a lighter recoil spring
  10. Major loads, all kinds of slides: CM, TS, Shadow, SP01, 75B SA
  11. It sounds like classifiers do a good job of highlighting your weaknesses
  12. That doesn't sound right either, are you sure about the powder? Maybe it's 3n37? 3n38 under a 124 should take 9+gr to make major and n105 would be about a grain more, but don't take my word for it, check out the published load data from the manufacturer: http://www.vihtavuori.com/en/reloading-data/handgun-reloading/handgun-reloading-data.html Vihtavuori powders are great for Open as they have published load data for major loads in 9mm and 38 super.
  13. If you're hoping to show off for your friends it'll be hero or zero, neither of which is an accurate indication of you current skill level, but if you approach it like any other stage you should see consistent results. I'm not in a stage of my life where I'm willing to dedicate much energy to taking my shooting to the next level, so my goal is consistency; I try to approach the classifier the same way I would any other stage and if I execute well, the score will be a few percent higher than my average.
  14. The wasn't any trick to it, the Shadow Target comes with the LPA cut, I just had to trim the bottom of the sight so the hammer wouldn't hit it. I'll try to take a picture tomorrow. I'm not sure you could do that cut on a standard 75 slide because of the firing pin retaining pin and the existing dovetail.
  15. The dovetail in the standard slide is slightly larger than the one of the TS, although I use the fixed rear in my Shadow Target:
  16. I've used and abused all manner of CZs, never cracked a slide
  17. Active members are what make these forums so great! Thanks Paul
  18. That's because the only Tanfoglios on the CA DOJ list are branded Armscor. Welcome to the forum from another behind the iron curtain
