  1. The Limited is the best gun for Limited (and $1,100 is a good price for a new one), but if you're determined to get a Production gun and turn it into a Limited gun, I think you'd be happier with the Stock III. Between the Stock II and the Limited, it's not just a 1/4" of sight radius, but also a 1/4" of barrel, slide and dust cover which significantly effects the feel. Don't forget the Limited has the same indestructible hard chrome finish as the Stock II, while the Stock III is blued which wears off and starts to rust with heavy use. The performance differences, real or imagined, are going to be minimal between these guns, but the resale value will be much higher on a Limited set up for Limited. If the initial cash outlay is such a big deal for you, why are you buying new? There are great deals on used setups in the classifieds here. In fact I think there's a Tactical Sports right in there right now I would recommend over any of these Tanfoglio choices in terms of value and performance.
  2. Are you trying to load major? Have you chrono'd that load, I would imagine it's a few at least a grain light. When you say "recoil" do you mean muzzle flip, or slap in the hand?
  3. Naah! https://www.lanbosarmory.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7615&referrer=cnwr_4191340829622 http://www.gunbroker.com/item/626217913
  4. A really great SAO trigger will be less work on the CZ and the Tactical Sports is a cut above anything else in the platform with a sub 2# trigger right out of the box.
  5. My first gun was a 54oz Open Tactical Sports as I moved to lighter and lighter guns, the cool kids started adding weight to get their 2011s up to the weight of my TS! I've been playing with different ideas for four years now, and I'm almost done with a 46oz TS Open gun with an aluminum comp and a 6" barrel, I think of it like a fencing foil: long and light!
  6. I like your thinking, but while I image GMs can shoot at top form I fear us mere mortals would improve on our second and third time's through, making a bigger difference that the equipment.
  7. The dot is the biggest advantage in Open, next comes the big stick, then the comp. I would run a dot and no comp before I ran a comp with no dot.
  8. You can do both with a file, I don't recommend a Dremel
  9. I haven't had my hands on a Shadow 2, but I would suspect it uses a barrel with a 14mm OD, like the TS, CM, Shadow, and SP01, so it shouldn't be a problem although there is some fitting at the front of the lower lug required when using a TS barrel in a regular 75 frame to ensure a tight lockup.
  10. You say you want to shoot what you carry right? Do you really want to carry an all steel gun?
  11. Shorten the hammer hooks and/or grind the underside of the sear.
  12. Small frame barrels are threaded M14x0.75 and large frame barrels are threaded M15x0.75; the only place I have found them for sale is on eBay, the good news is they're pretty cheap. Wait a second!?! Steve, is that you??? So this is your Enos screen name? You can use my dies anytime!
  13. JHP are way more accurate past 10 yards at major velocities.
  14. It really is no big deal to ream the throat.
  15. Just paste the text into Google translator
  16. Slides are also different between small/large frames
  17. I suspect the sear spring is not in right, you said you removed the firing pin block, did you remove the lifter or switch to a pre-b sear?
  18. I've shot plenty of 9mm with a 40 as long as you don't have extraction issues you'll be fine

  20. An SP01 all tricked out will run about a grand, but if you're on a budget all you really need is a 13# hammer spring and some sand paper.
  21. The broad concepts are the same, with only a few slight differences between CZs and Tanfos
  22. A 1911/2011 cone comp is designed to be used with a bushing barrel and a standard slide w/o the bushing. A bull barrel comp fits right inside the standard slide w/o the bushing. The other difference between the two setups is that bull barrels usually extend 0.4" past the slide whereas the barrel only has to extend 0.1" past the slide as the threads are inside the cone. A full sized bull barrel setup generally utilizes a 5" slide and a 5.4" barrel whereas a cone comp setup would likely be a 5" barrel with 0.1" cut off a 5" slide.
  23. Get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000GSLKIW/ref=mh_s9_acsd_top_b2hbgbL_c_x_1_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=mobile-hybrid-11&pf_rd_r=BWDABE0JYG2B3Z51C9MH&pf_rd_t=30901&pf_rd_p=eadc2ed6-a296-58d3-94b8-a9cf73ba9649&pf_rd_i=2476630011 You'll use it all the time!
