  1. At least in the local matches I shoot, the distinction is generally clear: its either a 'hoser' stage or not. Although I don't think I'm at a point where I can consciously trade points for speed.
  2. This has been fun to watch. I will concede that Youngeyes' words were chosen with great care although I still laughed out loud when I read them as I have I guy who works for me who consistently prefaces disrespectful statements "with all due respect"! Pat, I too am astounded by new smokers in light of the commonly accepted danger, but I try not to cast too many stones at addicts as a shooter who owns more than two dozen guns
  3. In 2010 I started having trouble with the manual lock on my AmSec 14 gun safe I've had since 1992; when I called the manufacturer they said the tumblers just wear out. I guess it makes sense since there was a time from '92 to '97 when it was opened at least twice daily. I paid a safe company to replace it with an electronic lock. I wasn't real happy with their install so I took it apart and re did it myself; if I'd have know how easy it was I would've bought the parts and done it myself. I've been happy with the electronic lock although it did burn through its first set of batteries recently.
  4. Yes, I have the Hogue grips stretched around my large frame Match, the finger grooves cover up the gap between the panel and the frame, there's also some plastic which needs to be removed from the back inside of the mag well.
  5. I could show you, but then I would have to kill you
  6. With two boys at home my wife and I were pretty sure this was boy #3, but alas, we welcomed little Amy into our live this morning!
  7. Do you have a large frame? CZ grips don't quite cover the hole in the frame and hang off the back a little.
  8. If definetly not that sensitive There aren't enough CZs and clones to go around as it is!
  9. If you want the comp to work I would use the same powder charge (maybe a little less) as your Major load but with 100-115gr bullets. Otherwise you could use a little Clays and your 121gr bullets; it would feel soft with a little muzzle flip.
  10. There's no denying Glocks are competitive, I just can't get into them. I shoot CZ75 pattern pistols with light, crisp SA triggers; I only own DA pistols for Production and HD.
  11. There's no question an icicle break SAO is better than a DA/SA, that's not the comparison being made here. The comparison is between striker fired and selective action Production guns.
  12. Standard steel Witness in Wonderfinish, maybe five years old???
  13. I've actually only used the plastic trigger from the TS in my Tanfos. I did drill and tap an Uzi Eagle trigger which was very hard; the trigger in my Canik was softer.
  14. Nonsense! Shoot what you want in whatever division you want. If you want to shoot a $4,000 Open gun, you're going to get it eventually, so why waste thousands on lesser setups just because you're afraid other shooters won't think you've 'earned it'? Personally I find it easier to work on the fundamentals with fewer distractions: it's easier to learn how to stage plan when you only have to worry about one reload instead of three; it's easier to reload with a 140mm mag and a giant mag well; you get the picture...
  15. I'm not asking to change the "system" I just want someone to explain it to me, because thus far all explanations have proved to be BS.
  16. I don't know about IDPA, but Hogue finger groove grips are not allowed in USPSA Production The Jericho 491 design has been re-branded a few times (Baby Eagle, Uzi Eagle, Desert Eagle Pistol), but it is an excellent pistol; more closely related to the EAA/Tanfoglio small frame pistols than the CZs (many parts interchange). I guess you could say it's a clone of a clone (which would make the Canik Shark a clone to the third power ). Back to your question, the Jericho is very similar to the much sought after Tanfoglio Stock II both in form and function so I highly recommend it to anyone looking a bargain on an all steel CZ75 pattern pistol. The Jericho grip is unique among the clones and caters to those shooters with smaller hands and who find the CZs/Tanfos too bulky.
  17. If you want to eliminate the side to side wobble use a CZ trigger and drill out the pin holes to more exact tolerances (CZ pins are smaller). A CZ trigger with the CGW trigger return spring will yield just as light a trigger as the Henning trigger system.
  18. You can't hear this enough times!
  19. In case you've never heard of Eric: yes, a good share of world class Production shooters choose DA/SA pistols (primarily the CZ 75 pattern pistols) so no, its definitely competitive. I shoot with two very good Production shooters who shoot the Beretta 92 as well.
  20. HMM... maybe you should ask Eric Grauffel if he can shoot a DA/SA pistol without embarrassing himself
