  1. When you've loaded too long for the mag, it's the tip of the bullet which catches in the front of the mag so the bullet profile is irrelevant, a JHP @ 1.18" is just as likely to hang up in the mag as a CMJ @ 1.18", but it's the shoulder of the bullet which hits the rifling when your load is too long. The shoulder of a JHP is much closer to the tip than a CMJ so the same chamber might take a CMJ at 1.165" no problem, but choke on a JHP at 1.115". Does that make sense?
  2. Hmmm... that's going to be a problem. I find hollow points cannot load very long at all in my CZs (~1.1") and the shorter the round the higher the pressure. 124 is a good bullet, but a round nose bullet is what you need unless you ream the barrel. A RN loaded about 1.16" should be just right, I loaded some out to 1.185" but they had issues in the mags. Some powders to look for: HS6, SP2, Silhouette, Autocomp, 3N38
  3. I don't have a CM, but I made a custom Open gun from a TS so I should be able to help. What components do you have available to you? I have tested data for SP2 and HS6 with 100, 115, 124 and 135 grain bullets.
  4. Nope. The CZ release uses that two legged spring under the screw and the Tanfo release uses the trigger bar plunger for retention.
  5. No paint, just finally got a set of parts dialed in for each.
  6. Small frame? Yes; large frame? Kinda... You would have the stretch the front strap, there would be a small gap between the front of the grip and the frame where you could see the inserted mag and the grip would hang over the back strap by a hair.
  7. It depends on the stage, but I try to never run the gun out of ammo on the clock. I load my mags all the way on my belt, then if I don't need the extra round, I won't use a barney mag and start with 22+1. I shoot my 9mm TS in Open, so I always have the option to start with the big stick.
  8. What?!? you're not using a barney mag?
  9. One leg down the front of the trigger and the other under the trigger bar.
  10. The frame of the Limited is a quarter inch longer than the Gold Team which is the same length as a Stock II. 9mm Major in a Gold Team is a violent, high pressure ordeal which is very tough on the barrel and slide; I have heard .38 Super Gold teams are better and last longer, but a custom upper is the way to go for Tanfo Open.
  11. Mark, the Gold Team guns, feed fine with the new MecGar mags, the only downsides are the efficiency of the comp and the difficult/longevity of making Major with all the holes in the barrel.
  12. Jacob, First off, congratulations on your Limited .40, that's a rare bird these days. The 'fitting' issue is a non issue, I have swapped uppers and lowers between dozens of guns of different makes (Tanfoglio and IMI) manufactured over a span of 30 years and the specifications are very similar. I have purchased a few new conversions and they've all dropped right in, new barrels need just a little fitting at the breech face, but it can be done easily with a hand file. Some frame/slide combinations are a little loose or a little tight, but nothing requiring any major modification; at most you might need to oil up a tight slide and rack it for an hour in front of the TV. A loose slide generally doesn't effect accuracy, but if it bugs you you can have the slide refinished and that will generally build up enough on the surface for it to fit tight again (I don't recommend squeezing the frame in a vise to tighten the frame/slide fit). The supposed inaccuracy issue is with shooting .40 out of a pistol chambered for 10mm (although I have not observed any distinguishable difference when I tried it), but the 10mm slide is identical to the .40 slide, so if you wanted to shoot 10mm, you would only need to buy a 10mm Limited barrel although I don't know how easy those are to get (try contacting EAA).
  13. Yes Grams too, that's the price you pay for the added capacity. Is there a reason you're doing slide stop reloads? I actually ground off the catch on slide stop so I can lock the slide open by manually pushing up, but the follower can't touch it. You'll find that if you're using bullets with a wider profile like 135gr round nose, loaded longer (>1.135") they will occasionally lock the slide open mid mag because the bullet hits that catch.
  14. The slide won't lock back with little followers. The doubling is likely due to your pre/over travel screws being set too tight. When you hold the trigger down, work the hammer up and down, if you're rubbing on the sear at all you need more over travel.
  15. A buddy of mine used my Match and returned it as smooth as glass, so I asked his secret?!? Automatic transmission fluid!
  16. I'm planning to take on this task; I already procured a few 2011 paddles and the tap, took a stock small frame release, welded a big blob on the end to mill, drill and tap. I'll keep you posted...
  17. Are u using newer mags with black followers? yes the black mags & black followers, gun prob has 300-400 rounds through it . I have a 38S barrel & a 9mm set up. Currently have a 6.0 & 8.5 spring. Maybe my G34 load is too short for the Tang ?? Try a 10# recoil spring, I've tried the 8# and it was a little light for my tastes; 1.135" should work fine for round nosed bullets, what are you using?
  18. Since it's so hard to find .40 Limited pistols right now, is anyone interested in trading for my .40 Match upper? It has an EAA FO front sight (with green, red or yellow rods), adjustable rear and glossy blued finish, Depending what you have to offer I'd be willing to add/subtract mags or cash to even up the trade; I'd be interested in 9mm uppers (compact, standard, long slide or 6" (I can dream right?!?)), 10mm Hunter upper or perhaps others
  19. I think it's a liability thing, they provide a new, extra power FP return spring so that if the pistol slam fires they did everything they could.
