  1. I have both and after using them for a while I don't have a strong preference, maybe a little towards the standard switch.
  2. I ended up breaking the hardware on this one and bolting it directly to the optic mount. The little but on the inside of the mount is aluminum, so it's easy to damage if you overtighten.
  3. The cup should be bottomed out in the pocket, which generally leaves them less than flush.
  4. Richard, fast powders under heavy bullets at minor PF are just as susceptible to over pressure as slow powders at major PF. Some of the flattest primers I've seen are on super soft 40 loads. I use SPP with my major loads (as high as 181 with 9mm) with no pierced primers or flow.
  5. yes This gun will be significantly heavier than the GM and the comp probably won't work ask well.
  6. Mick, is that STI GM in your bucket your current Open rig?
  7. Very cool! It looks like a Limited with a V8 Gold Team comp on it.
  8. Email sharon@eaacorp.com for info on the serial number.
  9. Picture? Limiteds do not come with a c more from the factory, does it have a compensator?
  10. I must just be luck then...
  11. Do I have to do everything for you guys?!? http://dillonhelp.com/Dillon%20Manual%20PDFs/dillon_rl_550b_manual_may_2007.pdf Page five, part number 13996 is the set screw used to adjust primer depth on the 550
  12. It is adjustable in the 550. I haven't loaded on a 550 for a while, so maybe someone else will chime in, but I know I've done it.
  13. I'm tellin' ya, Sharon at EAA will get you an answer within a few hours.
  14. 124s, I might even experiment with 135s. As a rule more powder = more gas = flatter gun, but more powder is also louder, more violent and hits harder in the hand. With Open guns I think there's a spectrum with soft/floppy at one end and violent/flat at the other.
  15. Polish, polish, polish. There's no reason a 13# hammer spring shouldn't be 100% on CCI.
  16. You can always calm down the snap of a shorty with heavier bullets
  17. This is true. I've always shot 115s because my first Open gun was 54oz with no holes, but now that I'm working on lighter guns with more holes (read: more violent) I'm thinking of trying some 124s to calm them down My newest addition weights only 42 oz and has two 3/16" holes, the 115s I shot today hit pretty hard in the hand...
  18. I think 6 MOA is most common, maybe 8 which is right in the middle of the range. Smaller dots are more precise, but harder to see: if your dot is bigger than what you're trying to shoot, it's hard to tell where on the target you're aiming.
  19. The new run of magwells are coated, with some matte grey finish, I'm not sure what it is, but I'm fairly certain it's not raw aluminum (I definitely prefer the old finish).
  20. That explains it, adding the comp adds weight to the barrel and holds the slide locked for longer after the bullet exits the barrel, once the slide unlocks there isn't enough energy left to cycle the slide. You either need a lighter recoil spring or hotter ammo. If I were you I would get some more appropriate powder before proceeding, some Autocomp, CFE Pistol, Silhouette or HS6 will do the trick for you.
  21. You're not trying to make major with 700x are you? That's a really fast powder and will build pressure fast (not to mention won't work the comp at all). What's your load? Have you chrono'ed yet?
  22. What kind of gun? How long is the barrel? Holes?
