Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Probably the best answer. Looking up specs for that Blazer ammo now and might run a batch to match it as close as I can. However i am sure that like many said could be anything. Bullet, powder, charge, crimp. I guess I was just curious if there was any one thing that someone knows about that is outstanding.
  2. Had an unusual experience. shooting. I was shooting my normal reloads that have always seemed plenty accurate yesterday and had to switch to Blazer aluminum cased ammo (talking 9mm). As soon as I changed up I noticed a drastic tightening of my groups. Same distance bullet weight, etc. What might be the answer regarding this. I was certainly surprised to see such a difference.
  3. Thanks for all the info. I live up in NY and will give the #7 a try. Powder sure has been tough to come by.
  4. Looking at the load data for Acurate #7 for 9mm and I see extreme gr. differences. From 3's to 7's. Seems odd range. I am currently loading Montana Gold 124 gr. CMJ at 1.140 OAL with 4.4 gr Bullseye and getiting good results. However I have a few pounds of the #7 and with powder being scarce would like ot use the #7. Any of you have good established load data for this combo or advice against using it. . Thanks
  5. Thanks for all the advice. I will chrony the rounds and get back here with info. The rounds are plenty accurate and seem to function very well. I guess the soot is not really a big deal....
  6. Yes blow by is the the correct term. Thanks. I will try to find a chrono to check the actual speed.
  7. I am using 4.4gr or Bulseye powder with 124gr. montana gold bullets seated to 1.140" OAL. My casing show what I think is a lot of burn marks on the outside of the spent casing. Too much powder, too little, seat deeper, less deep? Any clues. Picture is not good but I think you can see the burn marks on the top. Thanks.
  8. Kind of lost as to if any are left. Can I get on the list? About how long are we talking? I will send PM also. Thanks..
  9. Doesn't the 230 gr FMJ load seem light for the bullseye. My manual lists 5.2 gr to 5.7 gr. of Bullseye for the 230 gr FMJ bullet. Curious.
  10. Wow great info. Thanks to everyone for the tutorial. Just what I needed........
  11. Superdude, thanks that is exactly what I was looking for. Learned a lot.
  12. Sorry to keep bringing this up but I am looking to understand what I am doing. I am using Bullseye powder and the manuals say 1.125" for OAL but all of my commercial ammo is measuring closer to 1.160" I have loaded a bunch at 1.140" and they shot great, though a little dirty. My question is should I go with the manual? Will that longer length affect the amount of residue? And how critical is OAL within the range lets say 1.125" to 1.160"? Lastly what is the advantage to longer or shorter OAL. I see that most guys are suggesting trying to get to the longest OAL that a specific pistol will allow. I have been reloading for a while and always went by the book. Thanks..
  13. How does OAL affect ballistics. My commercial ammo 9mm FMJ 115gr different brands all are about 1.150" I am using Bullseye powder and the guide give 1.125" OAL. This seems rather extreme. I have built some up at 1.140" and they seem to shoot great. Any feedback since I am trying to understand the effects of OAL on bullets in general and why the big differences.
