  1. Have you considered using a 147 grain bullet?
  2. Paul, what group are you in? I like to think I'm in group 3.
  3. Or how about everyone just shoots singlestack. 10 minor is pretty even with 8 major, especially in the alphabet-level classifications. The weight limit is low enough that you don't have to think about flashlights...
  4. Unless you're using Star Line brass or using a super fast powder-extra heavy bullet combination, what extraction issues do they have?
  5. If my memory is correct, USPSA passed a rule requiring minimum trigger weights in production about 10 years ago. Everyone who spent a couple hundred bucks to make their M&Ps unsafe had a cow, and the rule was withdrawn. Two be fair, a minimum trigger weight in production division would have helped keep things closer to "factory".
  6. I'd bet that if you stopped using the FCD your problems go away. They're not meant for cast bullets.
  7. You'll find the steel challenge folks over here: https://forums.brianenos.com/forum/56-steel-challenge/
  8. Are you using a Lee factory crimp die?
  9. Not enough holes in the cylinder. Otherwise I'd run it.
  10. Red dots on revolvers. Not a good look.
  11. Dawson has inserts available if you call in. They let me place an order today.
  12. We generally are reloading of we're moving, but we still need to be ready to shoot when we enter the position. The reload can mask a lot of problems with our movement. My stage times improved when I removed the reload from some of my training and focused on moving into and out of positions like a limited shooter. The reload is a layer on top of the movement, we need to get the movement right as well. Shooting a revolver isn't too hard, it's the constant distractions from the shooting that makes all the low capacity divisions more difficult to master.
  13. I find it very useful in live fire to shoot small portions of stages I build. Time yourself between two shooting positions _without_ a reload. Shoot the last half of one and the first half of the second position. Work this number down, have your gun extended and ready to shoot as you enter the position. Only then do you add the reload. The reload needs to be done by the time you need to extend the revolver, this is earlier than when your feet get to the position. If you're not getting the reload done before this point, then you need to prioritize the reload over the movement. Not all distances require you to prioritize the reload and you need to figure this out on your practice. On long runs we need to prioritize movement, just like the bottom feeders. While you're moving between positions with and without reloads, take note of the time differences. For example, I know that my revolver reload costs me .4 seconds across an 8 foot wall. These things are useful information to have during stage planning and breakdown.
  14. It's not just limited to the guys shooting 140mm mags. Depending on the range surface, I sometimes clean every singlestack 45 mag that hits the ground.
  15. He's just another B class division-jumper trying to stir us up
  16. You forgot the best part. It should make people sad when they find your name above theirs on the Practiscore results.
  17. Why is everyone allergic to shooting anything but a 2011 in open? Open is "open", that is the place for things that do not fit the "limited" rules in other divisions. If you want recognition for every possible combination of firearms and optics, we have steel challenge for that.
  18. We had 3 last weekend, the turnout was close to being on par with the other handgun divisions. The way we keep adding divisions, you're all gonna be shooting against 2 other people.
  19. Not just no. Hell no. You can shoot whatever want in open, go play there. Why does everyone who doesn't want to shoot open want to force me to shoot open? If you allow dots and comps in revolver, you then functionally -require- dots and comps in that division. I went to Nationals at PASA Park in 2016. I don't think having a bunch of unclassified single stack shooters who stuck around another day really adds anything to Revolver Nats.
  20. Don't popple holes offer a bit more muzzle flip reduction?
  21. Choose to try for alphas at the match. Slowing down to "get your points" doesn't guarantee good points, just slower times. Shoot like you have been, but focus on alphas. The time will be what it is. In practice, experiment. You can shoot the same drill and focus on many different things. Move your attention around your body while you practice, pay careful attention to one thing at a time. You only get faster in practice, not on match day.
  22. I sold my 4" Colt Trooper MK III when I was in gunsmithing school. Never been happier to see a firearm go away.
  23. DX sights are great until you catch them on the back side of a port and they pop off. Yes, I've watched this happen.
