  1. Calling shots is knowing where each shot went based on what you saw your sights do, this is different than missing less. It sounds like you need to get to the point where you can shoot a match penalty free. Can you hit all the targets in a typical match if you remove the time pressures?
  2. Jeff, lots of whining about minor not being "competitive". Are you competitive? None of this matters until the shooter is capable of winning a match.
  3. I'm a revolver and single stack shooter. With a low cap gun you have to spend a higher amount of your time reacting to your sights. With more available make up shots, you can shoot faster and correct the mistakes you see. To be fast in singlestack you have to be able to shift between two different ways of shooting depending on how much extra ammo you have for each individual array. Check out the link below.
  4. Just got back from Wyoming last night. Thanks to everyone in Torrington who put the match on. I had a great time and I look forward to shooting the Cowboy State Championship again next year.
  5. It seems to me that the people who whine the most about their pet gun not being "competitive" in some random division wouldn't be competitive if we let them shoot a submachine gun in revolver division. Stop fooling with the divisions.
  6. The newer dies leave a short taper by the casehead, but I believe they are still parallel sided at the top of the case. Measure a resized case from your dies.
  7. I did for years, now I'm using coated lead. My lead numbers dropped after I made the switch. I'm a gunsmith at an indoor range, my lead numbers are generally elevated above the average shooter.
  8. The match is full with 2 revo shooters registered. I believe the match info said they would follow USPSA recognition requirements.
  9. It's not really tapered any more after you resize the case. Carbide dies make the front of the case parallel sided.
  10. I had problems with plated bullets pulling out of the cases on my 627. Plated bullets are sometimes undersized, so I stopped using them and I roll crimp everything now.
  11. I was bummed that they were discontinued before, and I was too lazy to make one on the lathe. Happy to see they're available again, I just ordered mine today.
  12. If I was starting out, I'd get a 929 due to the low cost of brass. But I guess I'll stick with my 627 and 38 special brass, I shoot pretty good with it.
  13. I looked at the match when it opened last night. The entry fee is a little rich for me. I'm thinking about the IRC for my fall match instead.
  14. Jacketed bullets and lead in the same session? That could be done of your problem. I won't switch between lead and jacketed without cleaning the barrel in between. Copper, once deposited in the barrel, attracts lead. I find it much harder to clean the lead fouling out when it's stuck to copper fouling and the leading builds up faster and thicker. Any lead in a clean barrel pokes right out with a little Kroil. It's a pain to get copper out, especially if there's lead deposited on top of it. The copper solvents don't work as well when there's layers of lead and copper in the barrel.
  15. Yes. I shoot revolver division, so sometimes it works out that way.
  16. This played a big part of our entire section moving to mesh walls
  17. Because we're talking about a titanium cylinder and that would cut through the surface coating. If it ain't broke....
  18. Those dimensions sound correct to me. The bullet should be bigger than the throat, and the throat should be bigger than the barrel. Leave it alone.
  19. Ghost squads between every group of shooters. We shouldn't have any backups anywhere.
  20. Here are the stages for the 2021 ICORE Rocky Mountain Regional Spots are still available for this years match. 21. I make 135 in Colorado in the summer. When I came down to SoCal last year for the single stack & revo match it took all 7 shots to make 125 in the cold rainy weather. I don't know if it was the altitude or the cold.
  22. Well different people have shot different stages, but here's the Friday results using Practiscore Competitor's "High Available" points calculation.
