  1. I originally saw the Limited-6 option as unnecessary, but I am slowly coming around to understand this rationale. It would be much easier to design fun matches, or piggy-back onto stages from other disciplines, without having to deal with the whole 6-shot neutral requirement. I understand it is a serious change, but we need to figure out ways to attract new attention, and encourage more matches being run. Maybe this could help.
  2. What a coincidence--Shooterdoc has problems with his wrist from years of self-abuse at home.
  3. It turns out we had a six shot neutral USPSA Revo Nationals at Barry this year--in 2015! (But nobody knew that ahead of time, and most of us made the logical assumption that 8-minor would be advantageous, as it generally is.) Back on topic: I really don't think cost of entry is an issue. People love to spend money on guns and gear. Right now the latest craze at my club involved tricked-out CZs and Tanfos for Production Division. Between the gun, mags, and rig, these guys are dropping $2000 without batting an eye. People who are halfway serious about shooting revolver are not going to hesitate to buy good equipment. The problem is, most shooters simply don't have the desire to tackle a discipline that is truly difficult to master. They want the gun that is easier to shoot. It's really that simple.
  4. I'm not buying this either. What does it cost to get a used K-frame with enough Comp IIIs and holders to shoot an ICORE match? Less than the average USPSA Production or SS rig. Not sure how you could get more "entry level" than that.
  5. That's kind of a weird thing to say--at least with regard to USPSA, which has approved two major rule changes (first allowing aftermarket barrels and mods, and later allowing the 8-minor option) that have dramatically expanded the USPSA-eligible equipment, and created a separate USPSA Nationals event (in conjuction with the SS Classic) that has attracted 5 times the previous number of attendees. I have been critical of USPSA in the past for not properly supporting Revolver Division, but I really can't make much of an argument these days.
  6. OK, I don't want to sound critical, but quite frankly it's harmful to the ICORE organization when people run "ICORE-like" outlaw matches. The only reason not to form an ICORE-affiated club and run real ICORE matches is to screw the national organization out of the few bucks it costs to be legit.
  7. Thanks for mentioning that, Chris. We fixed it and will reach out to those who have already registered.
  8. They will probably set up pre-registration on Practiscore. Keep your eye on our website, www.ankenyikes.org. We'll take walk-ons, also--not a problem.
  9. OK fellas, here's the scoop on the 2015 Midwest ICORE Regional in Elkhart Iowa. BIG NEWS here, so please read carefully.... First off, this will not be a 3-day event. Last year's match was quite popular, so we are keeping the same format again for 2015. We will run the ICORE Regional on Saturday Oct. 10, and the follow-up USPSA event on Sunday Oct. 11. We will be building stages on Friday, and we will accommodate those who would like to walk stages on Friday night, or camp at the range. For the non-primitive types, there are plenty of motels available off I-35 near Ankeny Iowa, just a few minutes from the range. Bottled water will be provided on the bays during the match--bring your own lunch or snacks, or you can send somebody into town for fast food. Results will be tabulated via Practiscore and awards will be completed on Saturday night after the ICORE match. SPECIAL NOTE: We will again provide free food for all competitors, travel companions, and match staff on Saturday night at the range. Weather permitting, we can hang out after the awards and enjoy the bonfires and perhaps a celebratory cigar. The Ankeny Ikes are providing the food--and I am sponsoring free beer for everybody over age 21. Everybody who shoots or works the ICORE match is entitled to shoot the Sunday USPSA match for free. We will run the same stages, but with USPSA targets and scoring in effect. Other shooters (those who did not shoot or work the ICORE match) are welcome to shoot the 9-stage USPSA match on Sunday for $20--all USPSA equipment divisions are welcome. Once again, there will be no charge for ICORE competitors and match staff. HERE'S THE BIG NEWS--the "625 MATCH": On Sunday, we will have special recognition--and cash prizes--for those competitors who shoot the USPSA match with a 6-shot USPSA-legal revolver using major power factor ammo. Cash prizes: $200 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd place, and $50 for 3rd place. These case prizes are being personally sponsored by our friend and fellow competitor Jay Tappe. This is a great chance to break out that trusty Model 625 (or 25-2, or 610, or whatever gun meets 6-shot major USPSA Revolver Division rules) and use up some of that major ammo we all have laying around! We will also provide awards for the aggregate winners (top three places will be recognized) for the back-to-back ICORE Regional and USPSA "625 match" events--just like the King of Revo awards from yesteryear. Prizes for the "625 match" and the aggregate awards will be given out on Sunday afternoon at the conclusion of the event. So, as a quick recap: You get to shoot for cash prizes and plaques at the 9-stage ICORE Regional Championship on Saturday, eat free burgers and brats and drink free beer on Saturday night, hang out and enjoy the campfire, and then turn around and shoot for even more cash at the USPSA 625 match on Sunday, with a shot at becoming the next King of Revo, all for a single $60 entry fee!!! You show me a better revolver match value than this, and I'll show you a whore who ain't had the clap. Seriously, we want to give something back to all our wheelgunner friends, and this is our way of putting our very best foot forward for you guys. So sign up. Iowa is beautiful during the harvest season. Registration is now open: http://www.ankenyikes.org/threads/2015-icore-midwest-regional-revolver-championship-open-registration.449/
  10. Bob is the best of the best. He is truly the mad genius of revolver division!
  11. I saw this thread pop up, and I thought to myself, hey that's a good idea for a BE Revo forum conversation!......then I realized who started the discussion. I had completely forgotten!
  12. Yeah but if they are already in the makeup aisle why make the extra trip? Good one, Larry! :-D
  13. So where did this whole nail polish thing get started? Guys, you can buy Loctite at any auto parts or hardware store.
  14. Classifier Calc does not always keep up with the adjustments.
  15. Don't spend too much time thinking about "bad primers." They are extraordinarily rare, something even serious shooters will see only once or twice in a lifetime.
  16. Most of the wear to the strain screw tip can be avoided by not cranking them in and out constantly. Set 'em, loctite 'em, and leave 'em alone!
  17. DON'T lube the chambers. That will only exacerbate the stickiness and create abnormal pressures.
  18. "Everybody's talking at me.....I don't hear a word they're saying.....only the echoes of my mind....." (Lose the spurs, Hoss.)
  19. Mine was the same way. It's the extractor--take it out and mildly relieve the star with a dremel tool.
  20. That's a virtual dead heat, isn't it? Obviously, that only applies at this particular match, where there was an obvious effort to bring the two platforms closer to parity. But it shows that with good stage design, that goal can be accomplished if desired.
  21. Nice open set-up. The C-More and sideways mount is tough to beat.
  22. OK folks, the registration link is active. This match will definitely be one of the better revolver matches of the 2015 season, for an entry fee of only $60! The ICORE Regional on Saturday and the USPSA bonus match on Sunday are a definite go--the Friday steel match is still tentative at this time, but I'm working on making it happen. Stay tuned on that. http://www.ankenyikes.org/threads/2015-icore-midwest-regional-revolver-championship-open-registration.449/
  23. I must have missed the survey that showed that the majority of the 100ish shooters at Nationals dislike 8 shot guns and are only shooting them to be competitive. Strangely enough, everyone I know has more fun shooting 8 shot minor, even the 6 shot diehards who finally tried it out of curiosity. It is not a question of dislike, in order to win you must shoot and 8 shot gun. It is not a level playing field period.I would also like to point out to those people who were accusing Jerry of being the driving force behind this 8 shot minor rules change, that he has not shot a major revolver match since the change. If the 8 shot minor was to increase revolver participation at major matches has it succeeded? If going by the nationals numbers no. 2013 First stand alone revolver match(no 8 shot minor) 119 participants 2014 Second stand alone revolver match(8 shot minor) 113 participants 2015 Third stand alone revolver match(8 shot minor) 106 participants If it was to increase it at the local level has it done that? Based on classifier scores 3% or so, http://uspsa.org/doc...nualReport.pdf If you look closely at the stages from 2015 Nats you will notice they were designed to make 6-shot major an entirely viable option. Most of my "empty" moon clips still have 2 live rounds in them.
