  1. Yes--and despite how quick and easy the moons pop into your hand, it's almost impossible to lose moons from the NM holder.
  2. Having tried most of the available options at some point along the way, I'm still a big believer in the original North Mountain product. I don't think there is anything quicker or more secure, and the NM is virtually immune to disasters.
  3. You can take out the IL without needing any kind of shim or spacer. Actually, the benefit of the Apex hammer over simply cutting a stock hammer is that Randy designed it to allow the IL to remain functional. This is an issue for those in shooting disciplines which require all factory safety-related mechanisms to remain fully functional.
  4. If the stock .125 non-FO sight looks like the right width to you, might as well stick with .125 in the FO also.
  5. If they made 500, at least half are at the IRC every year! (Nice gun, but not super rare.)
  6. American Classic by Metroarms. Phenomenal value. Seriously.
  7. I heard Jim was there with a camera guy, but I was busy in the chapter house getting the plaques and prizes ready, and apparently I missed seeing him. Looking forward to seeing the episode when it airs. (Jim is a very photogenic guy!)
  8. A good time to have your gun Taylor-throated is when you send it off to be cryo-treated.
  9. Obviously you have never reached down to your speed rig and grabbed empty air, and then noticed your loaded revolver laying there on the ground right beneath it. It happens.
  10. motosapiens, you may wish to change your password--your wife has successfully hacked your BE account.
  11. I thought everybody knew you can get Brownells dealer pricing pretty much for the asking.
  12. I have had good experiences ordering from www.jmbullion.com Their pricing structure seems more favorable than most of the other online sources.
  13. I just used the stock front latch with the shortened extractor and center pin. I'm not really convinced the yoke balls really do a whole lot. Then again, I'm not convinced the front latch really does much either.
  14. I hear they do a great job at the Fallon club.....but I for one will be disappointed to see the match move away from Morro Bay. For me, visiting the central coast of California is part of what makes the experience so fun.
  15. An 11-degree reamer is more of a facing cutter. I use a 45-degree reamer for crowning. Brownells sells a set for $63 that includes the cutter, brass pilot, and handle: 080-930-223. Be sure to use cutting oil.
  16. You absolutely can fit a .45 Colt barrel to a .45 ACP gun if you're prepared to face down the shoulder to fit the barrel, and shorten the extractor. It's not a terribly difficult project if you have the tools. I installed an 8-3/8" barrel from a Model 25-5 on one of my 25-2s. I discovered it was a little heavier than I wanted, so I reinstalled the original 6-1/2" barrel. I gave the long barrel to Bob Perdue and he experimented with it on one of his revolvers.
  17. He said he wants a target crown, Lee. Not a Burger King crown.
  18. Probably cheaper to just buy the reamer. You can make a run down to Brownells and save the shipping!
  19. Do you guys understand that QC on the Performance Center revolvers is actually much worse than the standard production line stuff? They have almost nobody left at the factory that knows how to do any real fitting work. (The regular production guns are now designed to be assembled with virtually no hand-fitting.) As many have said in the past, you have to look at them as raw material. Nothing about this particular 627 seems all that unusual to me. I'm sure it will be a perfectly nice gun when the 'smithing work is done.
  20. Actually, I would be in favor of eliminating the class system entirely. We rarely have enough participation at ICORE matches for it to be meaningful. At our Midwest Regional in Iowa there was no class recognition whatsoever, and I don't think anybody missed it a bit.
  21. To piss off Carmoney That may be the most cogent argument favoring the status quo to date.
