Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The accuracy of the short colts will not hold you back in any way shape or form.
  2. My advice would be to find a competent gunsmith. If the current sight is on then they can measure that and if its not you can give them the distance and how much it is off to determine the sight height. As far as the milling process it seems very straight forward so you should probably run from them and be thankful.
  3. I'm not sure having someone dealing with car loans sprinkling fairy dust on the internals of this thing could fix that bundle of jigsaw pieces. My suggestion would be to fill it up with JB weld and use it as a paper weight. That would eliminate all the frustration of trying to get it to run.
  4. That's a pretty lofty goal for 2017 and I do wish you the best on it. However the revolver you would be shooting in IDPA will not be remotely competitive for USPSA so you will need to budget for two or shoot NFC in IDPA while getting spooled up to begin as a GM.
  5. I don't use the 44 much any more. It's 38 short colt or 500 S&W these days. Quick load shows pressure under 33,000 psi and velocity around 1130 @ 8.5 grains. 7.6 gets you around 1060 and 26,000 psi. Your barrel may be faster or slower but this gets you in the neighborhood. Unless you just want recoil and muzzle blast then the n320 is your go to powder for that power factor. It is not a magnum load by any stretch but the most efficient for your game. The other powders can work however they will have more pressure upon bullet exit (recoil) and I do not know how they react when loading at 60% or less case capacity.
  6. I don't know how n350 or 3n37 will work with reduced loads but n320 will work well. It will give the least muzzle blast and make the PF easily @ 7-8.5 grains. Vihtavori lists 9.6 as max with a jacketed bullet and my best guess is that 7.6-7.7 is where you will end up. As always this is for referance and you should consult the online manual to determine what is safe for you.
  7. Yeah the first match results showed us all shooting major. The second had just you shooting it. Thought you might have left a gift at Chrono I think all revolver shooters have a special empty spot on the wall for such trophys. As always you guys are a blast to shoot with even if only for a "just for fun match".
  8. They had you shooting major Greg. They must have caught it since we just shot for fun.
  9. I believe you will find n350 a little slow for making minor power factor. It's fine for major and I use it for bowling pin loads in 38 special pushing a 235 grain tootsie roll.

  12. Just thought I would let you all know I broke part of the kydex on my 4 post moonclip holder. I sent a contact email asking about buying just a body and how much. The following morning I received an email from Bob telling me to return it and they would repair it no charge. What remarkable customer service and I am really glad all of my gear for revolver sports came from him. All of you new guys asking about getting started here is where to get your gear. http://www.4wheelguns.com/
  13. I think grabbing one off of their belt and tuning it with a pair of pliers would work also. I have stepped on my own, and occasionally an SO will, but it is rare for someone else to step on them after the coarse of fire. Most of the time another shooter is spotting them and picking them up. Shooters are genuinely good people for the most part.
