  1. So how much overlap is recommended for the inner belt and how much for the outer belt? How much overlap does your son have? Thanks Allan Allan, the overlap isnt the issue. Your actual waist size is. Measure your waist. If its a 32 then get a 34, if its a 33 you need a 36. Given that the belts have about an 8" overlap if you measured your waist and got the appropriate size you should have 6-8 " of overlap. Just curious, have you measured your waist yet?
  2. Allan, this is an issue we deal with all the time. Dont guess at your waist size, dont go by your pant size and dont go by belt size. Put a tape measure on your waist and see what it really is. Most people are sensitive and are in denial of being actually larger than they want to think. My son wears a 34" pant so he wanted a new Cr belt. He took one out and tried it on. It didnt fit. This was after arguing with me and not measuring his waist. I then grabbed a tape measure and measured his waist. He was working with me at the time. He was a 38" waist and required a 40" belt. Although this isnt exact for every belt a CR belt is usually 8" longer than the size. SO I am guessing you are more than a 31/32 waist. Putting velcro on the inside of your holster & pouches is something I have been doing for years. In fact safariland has been selling kits for their belts for over 10 years. The safariland kits wont work for CR as the velcro is opposite on CR and DAA belts. Picking some up at a hobby/hardware store will do. It really secures the rig.
  3. We did get the speedsecs in this week. They took a modest jump to 129.00 I have never done the conversion but if you had a revolver holster with the aluminum riser you may be able to buy a plug, remove the riser, install the plug, adjust trigger guard width, insert correct trigger bar and use it with an STI/1911.
  4. We as USPSA shooters have been fortunate to have Tim in our lives. He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers with Linda and the family.
  5. Hmmmmm.. Does 'F' stand for 'Fiance' or 'Friend'? Fiance I think there was a reason that "Fiance" is so close to "Finance".
  6. That is sour grapes. I lost respect for him.
  7. The match is listed on USPSA's schedule but cant find any info. The COPS webpage is still talking about the upcoming 2007 match. And yes Kyle, I did 3 searches.
  8. Those that represent the sport must also be realistic in what they are facing and not always trying to attain the pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow. I think we got as close as we are going to get with the Olympics. Doesn't mean some other venue wont be a showcase for the sport. Dont feel bad though, Golf isnt an Olympic sport either. Michael Bane has hosted many events that introduce the shooting sports to the media. He has reported goos results in the changing of personal opinions of the individuals. But this will not result in positive stories on the shooting sports as much as it might reduce the number of negative ones or the negative slant on gun owners in gun related stories. ESPN at one time covered an AREA 5 match I was at. I think it was in 96 or 97. I remember it actually airing. Not sure if they did any more matches nor why they dont do it anymore. Sports Illustrated once set out to do a story on IPSC shooting. Came to some matches, interviewed several involved. Nothing ever came from it. When they were asked why they said they couldn't do a positive story on guns. They set out to do a negative story but once they learned what we were about there wasnt a negative story to tell so they didn't do one.
  9. Back in 97 or 98 , at an Area 4 in Texarkana our IPSC president, Nick, gave a speech. He claimed that IPSC would be a spectator sport at the Olympics in Greece. Apparently the host country is allowed to pick some spectator sports of their choice and one of the officials in Greece was either a shooter or had ties to the sport and selected IPSC as one of those sports. The Anti-gun organizations went nuts and there was so much political pressure that it was stopped dead in its tracks. Havent heard to much about it since then. I have to tend to agree with most of you that say it will never happen. This is why we have the new politically correct target. I am sure there are some or many details I have partially correct or completely wrong. I do know what was said at that match though. I even had hopes of making the USA IPSC Team since they are the ones who would represent the USA in the Olympics. That was short lived.
  10. That's not springs or ammo. You have a serious problem with barrel fit. You need to fix it, before doing any more shooting. +1
  11. Banned. Who Banned it? I can understand the Network not showing due to lack of ratings but banning it is another issue.
  12. They only come as a kit. I asked about just buying tubes and was told that they did not want to break up the kits. One reason was they get the same amount of brackets on each mold cycle. 2 tubes and a bracket per cycle so no benefit to not include them. Wouldn't be any cost difference so they wouldn't be cheaper.
  13. Yeah, Chuck --- you did. The RO could call it unsafe gunhandling, depending on what he sees..... Oh yes the all encompassing DQ offense. DO i need to tell you how I feel about that rule. I would if it was allowed here. He could call that anytime for anything, in this case I was engaging a target, the gun was pointing in that direction and the round impacted within the guidelines. But if the Unsafe Gun Handling was called then there wouldnt be any question or arbitration. Just one persons opinion and use of a wild card rule and I/you go home. To use that rule in this case would be an abuse of that rule. I dont think it should be used just because the other rules cant be found to apply. Had another instance at a Nationals where the target was right inside a door you opened. it was a really quick stage. I drew, pushed towards the target and the gun went off, startling me obviously and the RO I think. We talked about it afterwards. The round was center a zone. Same thing, premature discharge while prepping trigger. This happens in the sport and why the AD rule was put into effect and the guidelines includes where a round can impact. If we want to DQ people for it then the AD rule needs to be changed to" if you miss the target then the round didnt go where you intended and thats a DQ" .
  14. Yea a long , long time ago i went to a match and had to shoot on Friday, it was full otherwise. I asked the MD to get me something off the table if I was called since I couldnt hang around 2 more days for the prize table. It was set up where the winner of each class won a glock. It was Limited only Match. I call him on Monday(this was way before internet was so easy) to get results and he says I won C class. I asked if I won anything. He said the 2nd C class guy got the gun because he was there. Guess who the 2nd C class guy was? You got it , the MD. Nothing I could do.
  15. I did one of these at the Indiana State. Mine hit at the feet of the target. Coming around the corner and prepping for the first shot. AS long as you are engaging a target and its further than 3 meters from your feet and not over the berm then you are good unless its during a reload, transfer , clearing a jam, Making ready or unloading & showing clear. Did i miss any?
  16. The stages were great! These things had so many twist & turns. Made you really think and when you thought you had Sherwyn out thunk he had it covered. Thanks Guys!
  17. We had the pleasure of shooting the Great Plains sectional match today. I thought I had seen it all but they came up with some new twists and turns which was refreshing. Good job to all that that helped out. On the way home tomorrow. After 16 days home sounds really good.
  18. Sorry I missed shooting with you guys. My wife was not up to it and I didnt want to leave her alone. Gotta say, though, doesn't look like this stage was much fun Hmmm....48 rounds all the same. Really special. Larry you were where yo needed to be. Catch you next time. The stage was ok and very challenging. I have a problem with these types of stages. I talk myself right into to trashing them, always have. It takes allot of mental discipline to focus and restrain myself. They said all my misses were on the second shot. The other GM ,Keith, had all his hits but was 11 seconds slower. Thats what this stage needed. It is work and I am lazy.
  19. Same here Kelly. Its going pretty good. On the last leg now. Are the scores up yet?
  20. Good to see you again Tom. It had been 8-9 years!!!!!!!!
  21. We shot the Richmond Hot Shots match yesterday. Had a good time shooting 4 stages. Good to meet several customers and an old freind, made some new ones also. One was 52 rounds! Now I didnt care for this one too much. 6 Mikes and 7 No shoots , 48 round stage. We had allot of shooting and driving in 2 days. Now to get to South Dakota through Yellowstone and Mt Rushmore for the Great Plains Sectional this weekend.
  22. Just got in the room in Richmond, Ca. We shot Norco this morning the guys down South. Got to shoot with JoJo and a large squad. Forget them all but Glenn said he will put video on you tube this weekend. We forgot the picture. Also was able to say hello to Ralph Arredondo and Mike Voigt. It was pretty hot. About 98 according to the truck gauges and humid, whats with that? Looking forward to shooting tomorrow. Supposed to be about 79 tomorrow here. Made a wrong turn and ended up on Treasure Island tonight. Was a little pissed until I realized the turn around was a lookout over the bay at San Francisco. What a beautiful City!!! I will check in tomorrow night if possible. Left the laptop power cord/charger in the hotel at Disneyland.
  23. Thats Phil who is from Lexington. Funny, we had been emailing all last week about some stuff he wanted to buy and then I showed up at the same club match. Ryan and I really stunk it up in Albuquerque. Haven't seen scores from Tulsa yet. We spent Monday at Grand Canyon, Tuesday in Laughlin at 120 degrees. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We will have to wear coats to Norco Saturday, supposed to be a whopping 92. Sitting down the street from Disneyland typing. Be here for the next couple days.
  24. Didn't get to stay in Tucumcari last night. Big storm knocked all the power out and they couldn't check us in so we drove on. Stayed in Moriarty which is where the Range is anyway. Its a new IPSC club being shot where they hosted the SASS End of Trail last weekend. Great facility. finally had some really good weather. Beautiful countryside and good people. They really like head shots though, bit Ryan and I hard. Can you pick out some of the form regulars?
