  1. I think what Wingman was saying was he wanted to see more recognition for what our soldiers do for us. Especially at shooting matches where the types who hold their rights so dear congregate and have more of a tendency to show support for the military. There used to be when the war started but maybe we have become a little forgetful. What they have done for James is great and may have brought out those feelings again. Or at least made it more personal again. I do not see where he ranted or was trying to get political. In fact it wasnt political at all, it wasnt about support for the war but about the individuals that do what they do and sacrifice for the rest of us, regardless of politics.
  2. 1.260 is too long. Is this a new gun? Dan usually sends out an info sheet with ammo specs when he delivers a gun. This would have included length.
  3. D&J never made jacketed bullets. They only made lead. The jacketed bullets were other brands repackaged. Mostly Zero. The original owner was Donnie Fraley. Donnie sold to Steve Hitch but never paid for it completely so Donnie gave the name to a guy in West Virginia who was using the name last I heard. I havent heard what has happened in the last couple years even though I did just buy some 308 ammo from Donnie Fraley. I dont think he had any casters left. So I am not sure who would have the lead equipment for sale.
  4. I have a friend who is thinking about getting into manufacturing Jacketed Bullets. He asked me about different manufacturers of the machinery to make the bullets. I dont have a clue but I thought of you guys could offer some links for us to research. He wants good heavy duty machines that can makes lots of bullets fast for a long time.
  5. Pulled out an STI and an Ed Brown and took pics side by side. Subtle differences but really close. I know these are different than the old rear sight STI had that constantly broke a pin on the front hinge.
  6. YOu see what I go through to get to work and get your orders out!
  7. The STI looks pretty similar. I suspect they are from the same place.
  8. Sounds like I could make that a hate rant about driving.
  9. We do not charge your card for an order until we ship. Of course unless its a custom order. Chuck, When I said "Some people are often very optimistic." I wasn't referring to you guys. Mike has been a ton of help in getting me set up with the right gear and all of my orders have shipped same day. I can't say enough for the quality of service I have gotten from you guys. I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't talking about YOU being overly optimistic. Thanks, Bobby Bobby, Didnt think you meant us at the least. I know what you mean though. We are running into more and more problems getting product delivered to us. Funny thing happened Friday. One manufacturer called, the head guy, and asked if we had a certain product in stock for a customer. Now I appreciate this manufacturer thinking about us but I came back with this response. I should have it, I dont but i should. Then I copied and pasted the order for that item and the expected delivery date that was 5 weeks past due. I then asked him to let me know when I will get my order and i will let him know when I will have the product. I couldn't resist. He didnt respond so that order may just be lost or delayed another 5 weeks.

  11. That links not working for me. 1911 http://shootersconnection.com/store/produc...roducts_id=1061 2011 http://shootersconnection.com/store/produc...roducts_id=1062 Sorry, dont know how I messed the link up. And screwed the price up at first.
  12. Thank You ! Did we ship it quick enough? 03/27/2008 14:12:00 True Pending 03/27/2008 14:29:43 True Shipped
  13. I have the regular, the tactical, the RF and the tactical RF. I hate running out of stuff so I tend to order heavy. Biggest problem I have today is getting product from manufacturers.
  14. Too bad you couldnt find somebody with them in stock.
  15. I have not heard anything about a non sighted, threaded barrel version coming out. At least that STi will be involved with. It is a possibility but these first 2 models are not available just yet. I was told April on the 1911 and May on the 2011.
  16. I just changed the pricing on my web page. The correct pricing is 350.00 for a 1911 and 385.00 for a 2011.
  17. Guess what, got several reports today that it wasnt working from some area codes.
  18. This didnt make me feel good about our chances.
  19. I read your post as being sarcastic. Surgically removed? Wow -- sounds like you have special insight into the situation. I still see it as being sarcastic but you may not have meant it that way and if not then I was mistaken and I apologize.
  20. This sounds like a great option. If that is your objective then cutting the slide lock tab off the follower will work just as good.
  21. Antagonistic tone noted. Actually I used the word surgically because that was in fact how they had to be removed. I like to use all the facts. It shows they were not just cuts or nicks. I also said it to show it was not JHP bullets and I relayed what kind of steel or condition that caused it. We are here to learn and improve our shooting. I think safety may fall into that category. All bullets splatter, the direction is what we need to control. Then it would be best not to blame a particular kind of bullet when the theory has no merit. This is why I posted this so it would bring light to the problem of poorly designed steel, Stage design , and steel in poor condition. The more those involved know what to look for and why they need to look the more it will be done.
  22. I have had 2 pieces of Jacket surgically removed, one from each knee. One was a factory 9mm American Eagle FMJ round. That one was because of the location of the popper in relation to the crowd. The other was a 200 grain jacketed zero Full Metal Truncated Cone. This time it was a popper that had been shot with a .223 and was cratered. The reason I used the fast shooting analogy is because I dont believe JHP is any more unsafe in relation to other bullet type just like fast shooting isnt any more unsafe than slow shooting. I believe both thoughts to be without any real merit.
  23. I bought the rest of another dealers inventory and these were part of it. I dont think there have been any made for some time. If I knew where the mold was I may be willing to make some more.
