  1. Paul what they are worried about and what was threatened could happen is that a judge could order the gates shut if one more incident happens.
  2. I have my own range and have offered to let the club have small matches there but then there is the insurance issue. The General Range and rifle range as well as the bullseye range all face the direction of the buildings the bullets were found. Although there is no .223 fired at bullseye unless we use it for a rifle stage at a 3 gun match. The Ipsc pits do not face that direction. Problem is I am not the president of the club nor on the board. I am trying to help figure a way to get the pits for IPSC back open. The NRA has been invloved. In fact all the ranges were certified by the NRA when they were built. They did offer some new recommendations recently that the club did not follow. The IPSC pits were improved although not completely to the recommendations. They wanted something to limit blue sky. I think it was eyebrows to keep ricochets in. The main club is dealing with the NRA. I am trying to help get IPSC back open. We have been shooting IPSC there since 1989. If they want to spend the money for the baffles thats fine but that means we stay closed until its done. Its a shame this is a 1400 acre facility.
  3. We tried to give them no shooting in that direction. Our ranges dont shoot that direction anyway. One guy then brought up a aerial map picture and showed all the houses in those directions.
  4. The pistol club just spent 33,000 on range improvements to comply with an NRA report while the range where the problem came from did nothing. The GP range will reopen, we will be closed.
  5. By now many of you have heard the Bluegrass range has been closed. THis club has a long range rifle range, a general member range where everything is shot, a bulls eye range and 6-7 IPSC pits. These are the ranges closed due to a neighbor claiming 3 .223 bullets lodged into his house/buildings came from the club. We had a meeting last night and the motion to reopen the Bullseye and Pits failed 16-5. This motion was under the condition that any shooting would be only in sanctioned matches supervised by Certified Range officers. The bad thing is none of these sanctioned groups most likely had anything to do with this. Chances are the bullets came from the club although it cant be proven but they most likely came from the unsupervised General range where new members can take an AK or AR and blast away. The board members that voted against it were the likes of Shotgun and Casting divisions directors. We also have a blackpowder division, Hunting dogs and just at large directors. Keep in mind the most likely culprit is the General range and they agree to this fact. At the same time they do not want to accept any risk at all. I came away with the impression that if there was any chance at all that any round could get out of the range then it would never be reopened. They want Zero risk. I dont think this is possible. We were asked to show the board that our sports are safe but at the same time the president asked me if we ever pointed a gun above the berm. I said yes but we have rules about AD's and things that lead to them like finger in the trigger guard. Just the fact the gun was pointed above the berm at anytime was enough to say we were not safe. So does anybody have a way to argue this? Are we all going to be facing this same threat to our sport? This doesnt only effect IPSC. There is an IDPA, SASS, Bulleye, High power clubs at stake, maybe even more. I have thought about trying to show mathematically the probabilities of an incident and showing two different levels of risk. One level where there is a range defect and we keep operating or one level where there is an accident or failure to comply with set rules and procedures, a level in which we have insurance for. We tried a form of that last night and it fell on deaf ears. I am afraid we are done. Somebody please give another approach that may open their eyes. This is fast becoming an internal fight with division against division. Each arguing why they should be open and the other is at fault. The Cowboy MD got up and talked about how they shoot from stationary positions and dont run around with guns. There is even fighting in the divisions. one of the other pistol sports MD had side meetings with board members showing them how unsafe our range was and how unsafe we were running around with guns. He used you tube videos to show what we did. The future of this club doesn't look very good. And the first range to reopen will be the GP range which most likely caused all the problems. They are installing shooting tubes and range officers at this range. The only way I ever see IPSC opening back up is to build an impenetrable dome over the pits. On a bright spot they did allow the RO class to continue this weekend.
  6. Brian, you could call Mike at the office tomorrow. He worked at Antique & Modern for a couple years before coming to work for me. They specialized in some high end shotguns and other stuff. He could give you an idea or even make a call to the owner to get an better idea. I will let him know the pics on here and maybe he can PM you.
  7. Where can I get a ticket?
  8. I saw the GSI at the shot show. I was interested in carrying it for resale. When I asked about the price structure they acted like I wanted their first born. They informed me they had no discounts for anybody. I really had to wonder why they were at the shot show which is a dealer show. I got similar treatment from KISS so I dont have a bullet feeder. The GSI looks good but with that attitude I will stay away.
  9. That happened with a club up here but many of the IPSC shooters filtered their way into the club and onto the board. They got many others to join. Then they made their move and bascially moved back in. All the old guys who kicked IPSC out left and now IPSC controls the club.
  10. yes, especially the ones with these characteristics. Diane Snellen, one of the sweetest people I knew and with her then husband, Danny, got me into IPSC shooting, was murdered by the boyfriend of her daughter. He is in prison now along with the daughter. From what I was told they were into the same things as the girl who threatened Austin.
  11. oh, ok. How about just getting a shoulder sling for an MP5. I can change the stock out to the retractable and with it being winter it would be concealed under my coat. Does anybody know a good sling. I want to get one just because. Here in Kentucky I can legally conceal carry my MP5. I just love rubbing that in.
  12. Howard, when I get to feeling this way I stop & think about actually how good things are and how insignificant some of those inconveniences are. And I think it was somebody here on the forum that said problems in life are part of what makes it life and without the bad we would not appreciate the good. Granted I take too long to remember this most of the time myself.
  13. ok, whats an IWB. I can be dense at times. We live 1200 ft off the road and do have a camera on the driveway closer to the house. Also have a driveway alert that alerts us anytime somebody comes through the gate. A lense to reach the gate is real expensive. Think I would rather mount a .50 in the attic instead. I will call the health department and see what they say. I do think they are starlings and we have a problem with them around here. Maybe they are doing population control but somebody still had to put them on the driveway. Some were frozen and some were not, like they had been stacked in a box or bucket overnight. It was in the teens that night. I will also get with the Sheriff and school. Also found out somebody narced on the girl and she thinks it was Austin. They didn't find the drugs, they were handed off, but found alcohol and she got suspended. If somebody tried to start something with him straight up I am not worried about that. Last time a bully tried anything he ended up being taken to the hospital because Austin made hamburger out of his face. Funny thing was although he had to get suspended they did it on our terms so he could make it to the wrestling tournament that weekend. The faculty seemed happy the other kid was finally stopped. Austin hasnt had a problem with anybody since then. What scares me is the blindsided attack with a weapon. One other thing I have learned is there was another instance where another house a couple miles away had a couple dead cats put in their driveway and hung on their mailbox. Nothing ever came from it. Hopefully this is just a prank.
  14. Gary, I figured you would camp out just cause you love me. I found out there is a girl at school who is a Lesbian and a Gothic who has threatened Austin. She likes Austins girl friend. I know she isnt one to be afraid of but she said she was going to have somebody take care of him. Just a possibility.
  15. Yep. In fact my wife came back after taking my daughter to school and said there is something dead int he driveway. I figured it was a a typical road kill. When i left I took a look and it was a pile of dead birds. Could have been ravens, they were black with white or light colored specs. It took an effort to acquire them to begin with so it had to be something intentional.
  16. Yesterday we found about 15 dead black birds in a pile in the center of our driveway. I called the Sheriff and he came out to see for himself. He doesnt have a clue. All he could say it definitely wasnt an accident, somebody had to put them there. The question is why. Does it mean something? Was it a message? If anybody knows please tell me.
  17. Be carefull, they got that covered by changing the speed limits so you have stay on top of it or you will be donating more to the state.
  18. Jane, not sure how Indiana is but here we can go to traffic school and get the fine reduced. If school isnt an option then , at least here, its no different a fine if you plead not guilty and have a trial. I would ask for a jury trial. My lawyer says you can do that here in KY. Not every Judge will allow it though. Either way if you don't mind spending the time in court and you want the tax system to earn their money plead not guilty and make them spend more dollars than they will get from your fine. If enough of us do that they may rethink the speed trap type tickets. Unless your in Virginia and a ticket is over a 1000.00. Since it was in the 4 lane section you could argue that you were not unsafe but thats a stretch. The speed limit is set that way to separate you and your money to start with. I see it all the time, be cruising down the highway and all of a sudden you see a End Construction sign. Hell I didn't know I was in a construction zone and didn't see any for miles. But with that sign they can charge you twice the amount on a ticket. I don't think it was left up by accident. My son got a pretty severe ticket. Speeding 17 over(72/55), improper passing and reckless driving. He was done. No way to really fight it and win. The one ticket is 13 points. He had another pending that was 6 points(44/25) that the Judge already continued long enough for him to turn 18 where he is allowed 12 points instead of the 7 for minors and take traffic school. The 44/25 is also a speed trap situation, he wasnt paying attention and following 2 other cars. He was just unlucky. He went to court yesterday for the big one willing to beg mercy but his football coach was there who happens to be a lawyer in his real job. He looked at the ticket, went over to talk to the County Attorney and the Judge. Got it continued and said he would get the reckless dismissed and possibly the improper passing. He was passing on a double yellow line around a car doing 30 where there was plenty of room for that speed. I have done it myself in that spot. He will still end up with 6 points minimum after this is all over but the attorney does help get it reduced but will hardly ever get it dismissed completely. BTW Austin was so scared he says he learned his lesson and never speeds anymore.
  19. And heard today the guy who claims to have the bullets in his buildings has been there for 14 years and wants to sell his land. I voiced my opposition to the closing since there was no proof it came from the club. He is 4000 ft downrange of the general shooting range. They are going to put in steel tubes(10k cost) for the general range and hopefully open the rest back up. There is an emergency meeting Tuesday night where the IPSC pits and Bullseye range will be discussed. The rounds were said to be all .223. SO the long range rifle range which is next to the general range may be at risk also. This is a 1400 acre complex.
  20. The sidewinder on Erics page is the same picture on EGW's page. EGW buys the raw racker from me then puts the set screw in the middle. We put the set screw on the end as seen on my web page. Henning I am not sure of the dimensions you need but I am sure the sidewinder can be fit. We can supply you the blank , raw racker to be machined to your specs. Call me if your interested. I think it will be cheaper then building a new mold.
  21. Hmmm... I just bought a new 1050 and I hope I dont have a case feeder that doesn't work. haven't decided where to put it yet plus its winter so no hurry. I cant imagine them changing the old design. I always thought if it wasnt broke dont fix it.
  22. The real question is if you have 2 guys that are equal in every other way and give one any 500.00 gun and one an STI , I will bet and win that the STI guy will outperform the other. The fact Dave won the nationals with a glock doesnt mean the Glock is as good as the STi but that Dave was that much better in other areas of the match in that match. Its not that the Glock isnt as good but for this sport the STI is more applicable to the needs for doing well in this sport.
  23. Anyone know where I can get a pair of $2,000 cleats?? I have the very cleats you speak of...SEND ME A CHECK posthaste [these shoes are hand tied and hand laced. Act now. Supplies limited.] You know Kyle if they make you start faster, stop quicker ,move faster, are more comfortable and last longer then you may just have a market for them. I think thats how STI got its market.
  24. Do you want a reverse plug or Spring plug? THe reverse is for use with a bull barrel and the spring plug is for the bushing barrel. I have both in stock.
