  1. I was looking at these 2 in 9mm. I have a Trojan in 45 and love it. While at my local GS last week he had 2 RO's in 9mm. I left the store with 1 of them for 759 dollars. I ran 150 rounds thru it with factory and reload ammo and it was 100%. Got a email from Dawsons about the 10% off free shipping sale they were having so I ordered the following; ICE no gap magwell,4 no gap 10 round mags, fiber sight, lite speed trigger group, 3 aluminum shock buffs. Grand total 367 dollars. Added some 30 dollar grips and a trigger and extended mag catch I had in the parts drawer for a total of 1155 dollars. This gun also comes with a ramped barrel in 9mm which I like. The trigger breaks just under 2 pounds and I hope to try it out in the coming week.
  2. What diameter end mill was used for the plunge cut? Thanks.
  3. The mags are the newer style Caspian called the quick change models. I bought them from brownells. They did require tuning to be reliable. I also have a couple of the earlier versions that hold 19, they ran fine out of the box. I have medium sized hands and the Caspian grip feels great to me.
  4. I have a Caspian in 9mm. It has a 5 inch bull barrel and shoots very soft. I have the140 mags with grams spring and follower kits. They all hold 24 reloadable. Be sure to verify the slide is a 9mm before you buy. Hope it works out for you.
  5. The load felt about the same as my current load using ramshot competition and has the same PF. The gun is a para with a brazos LW slide ,barsto bull 5" tungsten guide rod and 10.5 variable recoil spring with 15# main spring. It will be a while before I due any more testing due to my schedule but , so far it looks quite promising.
  6. Finally got to crono some test rounds on a nice 80 degree afternoon 5 shot string 4.5 promo 180 extreme 1.190 oal = avg. 934 for 168pf 4.1 promo 180 extreme 1.190 oal = avg. 850 for 153 pf I plan to load 50 rounds for further evaluation. so far it looks real promising.
  7. I shot some of the rounds that I posted above. I was unable to crono but plan to next weekend. I was very pleased with the accuracy. Shot 5 rounds at 15 yards and came up with a 3 round group of 1 inch with the last 2 touching each other about 1 inch below the first three. No smoke running the plated bullets. Recoil was a little more than my current load of 168PF. Also learned to check for a dead battery in your crono before loading it in the truck!
  8. I have had a Trojan for 6 years and it has been a reliable and accurate gun. If you can I recommend handling them both. The Trojan is slightly undercut under the trigger guard and does have a little different feel compared to others.
  9. I also bought some promo. I plan to try some rounds this Sunday. 180 extreme-4.5 grains @ 1.190 OAL CCI primers
  10. My Caspian and my STI with stippled grip both measure 5-11/16" circumference. The Caspian is 1.100 thick and 2.190 long The STI is 1.315 thick and 2.015 long
  11. I had a firing pin stop crack one time and it allowed the extractor to rotate clockwise slightly causing the same problem. 2 questions. What weight recoil spring? Did it jam with a 2 hand grip?
  12. Caspian. Have 2 with grip tape and really like the feel. FWIW Caspian mags can require quite a bit of tuning.
  13. Try www.highercapacity.us for mags. They offer 28 round mags for Caspian high caps.
  14. When I did mine I removed the top end and disassembled the mag. I clamped a small flashlight in my vise pointing up and held the frame over the light while sliding the empty mag tube into the gun. Looking from the top I could see exactly where there was interference and where I needed to grind or file the catch.
  15. All my sti mags are unmodified except for followers and base pads. I am not sure about SVI mags interchanging. I don't have any experience with them. For the para I took a guncraft mag release and tig welded the shelf the mag seats on and fit it to the gun and mags. The Caspian uses their mag release with minor fitting and a lot of mods to the grip which I did because I sometimes enjoy a challenge. Probably won't do it again as it is a lot of work.
  16. I am sorry to say I no longer have the pics I took during the build. They were on my phone that crashed and I learned a valuable lesson about backing up data. I had heard it could be done but never saw one, did all the work myself using a milling machine, die grinder and tig welder. I doubt it would be worth the cost of paying someone to do it. I will try to get some more photos and post them in a couple days.
  17. Take your time filing the catch. My frame is a early one . It required cutting about .005 off each side of the frame in between the slide rails to allow the mags to go high enough without binding. Not sure if they all require that but it might be worth checking. Good luck.
  18. Great info. I ordered mine last week and was curious how much work was needed. They told me around 6 weeks also.
  19. The catch lifts the mag a little higher up also. I have been running them a couple years now with no issues. fwiw I also have a Caspian 40 running sti mags. use the same mags in 3 different guns.
  20. The only thing I noticed on the trigger was it was slightly lighter feeling. The big difference was the felt recoil and slide speed, which I liked better.
  21. I have been running 2 guns with that setup for a couple years now. Both have lightened slides and work well.
  22. I am assuming light primer strikes are not the issue? Just in case, try an extended firing pin. I have been shooting Wolfs for a while now. In the beginning I had about 2 out of 20 that would not fire. Since I run a 15# mainspring I tried the longer firing pin and have had no more issues.
  23. I use 1part ATF-1 part kroil, and 2 parts Mobil synthetic gear lube. Has worked great for years and stays where you put it on the gun. Even in the Florida heat.
  24. 168-170 PF , 14lb with 17lb mainspring. I have used 12lb and 13lb, but usually developed feed issues with them. Springs are relatively cheap, buy a 16 & 14 and give them a try. Good luck!
