  1. I have aluminum FL guide rods in three 1911s from Briley They work just fine. I helped reduce my ESP and CDP guns by replacing the mainspring housings with poly units made for Kimber 1911s That would net you over 2 oz in savings.
  2. Chris Are you sure this isn't some kind of sex toy for REALLY little people???????
  3. I went through this last year.... until I tried Tripps 9 mm mags. Ten rounds and they run perfect. This year it was ESP and SS with my 9 mm 1911.
  4. It looks like he opened that can of beer. Sad. Thank God the officers "rescued" the girl.
  5. Real 1911s are aways blued.... never Stainless or "painted" <<<note Avitar
  6. You are very welcome Chris Wow 1972 was quite a year. ---Nixon was reelected by a landslide ---Watergate took place ---The DOW passed 1,000 for the first time ---The last ground troops left Viet Nam ---HAIR was the top broadway show ---The movie The Godfather (I) was released ---The Munich Olympic massacre took place ---Dallas beat Miami in Super bowl VI ---Atari release their brand new Pong video game And two famous big men were born.... Chris Martin and Shaq O'neal :roflol: :roflol:
  7. I like the lighter version that I've "made". I get the weight by stowing my Barney mag in my strong side vest pocket.
  8. I have a couple 5.11s... but they were FAR too heavy for hot weather....so I had a local sewing shop take out the lining and all the interior pockets and such. They are no much more comfortable and weigh half as much.
  9. Tripp # 1 Wilson #2 CMC #3 All others need not apply
  10. On Thursday the 26th CSEMARTIN turns 38. Even though I love Chris like a son ...and wish him the very best. I STILL HAVE TEE SHIRTS OLDER THAN HE IS!!!!!!
  11. In my experience being an SO on a day when you aren't shooting actually helps. (more so in USPSA than IDPA) You get to see how various shooters attack the stages and in general it helps. Being an SO "While" you are shooting clearly hurts my performance. At many of our club matches we have 10 or even 12 stages. Just the volume of walking is increased by 10X with little if any chance to sit for even a quick break and by the end of the day I am beat. It also gives you far less time prepare for your own shooting. A lot of this depends on how your matches are run. Does the SO stay at one stage??? or does he for example move with a squad???
  12. Welcome to the forum ....from the central lower.
  13. The rule book carefully defines how non-threat targets are to be painted... this apparently wasn't the case..... But at local club matches I have seen much much worse.
  14. Limited 10 D. Using a SS 45 and borrowed mags. The C came in about a month.
  15. I have, use, and like my Kimber conversion unit. It runs great on any high velocity ammo including the Federal 550 bulk packs from Wally World. I added a Dawson FO front sight so mine "mirrors" my SS gun.
  16. I teach concealed carry classes and believe me..... some people want to bring the strangest guns to the class and the Desert Eagle is a relatively common one. I've also had "students" who wanted to bring their: ---6" model S & W 29 in 44 mag ---Every type Black Hawk ever made ---8" barrel Ruger .480 ---4" .454 Cassul Alaskan by Ruger ---Auto-Mag in .44 mag. ---S & W .500 ---Encore break action single shot (in any caliber you could think of) But the worst was a guy who wondered if the sawed off 12 gauge double shotty he carried in his truck every day was short enough to use in the class. I refered him to the BATF
  17. S & W Model 66 in SSR---- S & W 625 in ESR
  18. Thanks guys.... my Honda is a 4 cylinder and the manual doesn't indicate belt replacement as a requirement at any point. Your mention though---of it-- reminds me of a terrible story from 1979 or 80. I worked in Houston with a guy who bought a 2 year old Porsche 928 used. It was clean but the driver used to to "fly" from Houston to LA nearly every week and it had something like 85,000 miles on it. The buyer took it to the Porsche dealer to see what mantainence they suggested. They included in their long...long... list a new timing chain/belt, which for the dual over-head V-8 was something like $600 or $700 (In 79)... so they guy decided to put that off. Two weeks later while showing his girl friend how fast they could get from Houston to Dallas in his "new" car the chain/belt broke at something like 135 mph. The engine basically exploded even leaving considerable dents in the hood and fenders (from the inside)and even a broken windshield. He and his girl friend were okay ... but as I recall the repair bill was something like $11,000 (obviously not covered by insurance or the factory) Which was just about what he paid for the car 2 weeks before.
  19. Do I need them???? Are you selling them???? What's the timing belt post mean???
  20. I have a Colt Officers ACP Enhanced SS model that has been highly customized and is one of my favorite carry guns. Check out Gun Broker for prices... but if the gun is in decent condition that is a reasonable price.... since the Officers is no longer in production. Check out the 1911forum.com They have a lot of information there on these fine little guns.
  21. Are The Post Offices and banks closed??????????? :roflol:
  22. My daughter leased a Honda Accord in 2003. When it came off lease 30 months later the book value was considerably higher than the lease buy out.... and I knew she had taken great care of it... so I paid it off and turned it into my highway driving "Match Car". It now has 107,000 miles on it and the only repairs have been a front brake job and 2 sets of tires. This past weekend I drove home from the Wisconsin state IDPA match... which was a 420 mile drive. Including meal stops and lots of toll booths in Chicago-land.. I made it in 6 hours (a 70 mph door to door average). Today I finally filled the tank. It would only hold 13.3 gallons of gas. So 31.6 mph at high speed with the air conditioner running full blast in a comfortably sized car........ What's not to like???
  23. My shooting buddy has a Henry and he loves it. All my 22s are semi-autos or bolt guns so I can't pass on a "personal" insight.
