Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'm new to shooting, the first time I shot it, I think I said HS. The 1911 has become my favorite gun to shoot. My accuracy has gotten much better . I'm reloading 230 231 4.7. I had back surgery about 9 mos ago and I'm not the biggest dude. Keep at it.

    What is it?

I was shooting in an archery tornament, I had 30 people in my class C I shot BowHunter style. Compound fingers no sights. The first day of the shoot I was down by 100 points. I almost said forget this, I'm going home. Feeling there were sandbaggers shooting. The next day I was hitting every thing not really aware of my suroundings. Not really knowing I was really on. My partner I had been shooting with everyday, he was state champion in his class. He told me I was in my zone,he never spoke to me this day, he realized this. I ended up winnig my class and scoring higher than the upper B class.

    Just not the same!

I read the book Zen the Art Of Archery, when I was competing in archery. Were getting into heavy stuff here. I find it very interesting w/ the posts.
  5. Thanks for the responses, I'm going Go w/ Mike Dalton he's been doing this for along time. He runs the diffrent shoots IDPA IPSC ISI Compact Tactical Revolver and 2010 Steel Challenge Championship were held at Lake Piru. I live about an hr from there. I have been working on dry firing walking around house . I did have a problem with seeing , I found a competion skeet shooter and optometrist and he made me a pair of glasses, and I put some tape on non dominant eye.. I want to keep both eyes open. They work really good. Have been using a 22 cal, and I seem to do ok. I think if I could video myself that would really help, then I can actually see what I'm doing. I just need 1 person Thanks Again John
  6. I have been shooting high , what ever I shoot. I'm even straight up or starting to lean back. I know I'm suppose to lean into the shot. I also think I'm shooting with a limp wrist. I know I'm anticipating the shot.Iv'e really have not had any instructional training. The range master has watch me and kind of told me what I'm doing, and I know what I'm doing. I have a good sight picture. I think my stance is off grip inconsistent. I have sm hands and and I think grip is inconsistent.I'm not ready to give up. I have just picked up some bad habits. I talked to Mike Dalton great guy I just can't afford 260.00 for 4 hrs.I'm ready to drive to AZ and stay there for a week. I need to start from the beginning.I really do enjoy shooting. Thanks John
  7. I have the Dillion 550b, the primers are not dropping. I have spoke w/ dillion , I spoke w/ the older Mike, really a nice guy. He suggested I bend the bar. Then I took the slide apart. There just not dropping, then i have 5 or 6 drop. there just not going into the primer cup.
  8. Hi Mike, I also have a Gp100 4 . I was going to start off with A sa 1911 45,I just felt going with my revolver would be a better way to start.I just had a trigger job with the springs replaced on the Ruger.I really do enjoy shooting the revolver. Would be nice to have 625 S&W.Anyway good luck Mike. John
  9. The only ammo Iv'e shot out of my 45 is 230 acp. How does the the 185 and 200 shoot. Does the gun perform well,w/ lower grain bullets. Just bought the sa 45 loaded about 4 mos ago.
  10. I think Eagle carries them , there called secret service. Badger also has alot of nice grips.
  11. I would look online Eagle Grips or Badger.
  12. The comp 11 are the same, the jettloaders last longer than the comp 11. I was reading this on a diffrent forum, thats why there a bit more.
  13. I just ordered 2 JetLoaders w/ a pouch. I placed the order w/ Buffer Technolgy,Brownells carrys them as well they are kinda of expensive 24.95.
  14. Tom thanks for the imformation,I have never heard of them.
  15. Which speedloaders are easy to handle and reload with. I have been looking at the Sarfiland comp 11. I do have the the HKS, I have a GP 100. I don't want to go with moonclips.
