  1. I shoot a Glock 22 in Limited. I dropped my major PF load by .1 grain and chrono’ed today (180 grain Zero JHP over 4.6 grains of Titegroup). I have 2 G22’s. One’s pretty new and the other one is old and ragged out. The old one is still great however, and still groups about 2” at 25 yards off an improvised rest. I chrono’ed both guns with the same load today. My new G22 gave me a FPS in the range of 942-949 – 6 shots total. Right where I want it. My old G22 gave me 911 – 952 fps with six rounds of the same load. That’s a range from 163.9 PF to 171.3 PF. WTF?! Why such a huge deviation from the old barrel? Could the old barrel just be really dirty or just shot out? The old barrel still has good accuracy. Can a barrel be shot out and still have good accuracy?
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. I guess we'll just has to find some other form of plinking fun at my friend's cabin. Shooting at a downward angle to the ground off the deck, we could shoot stationary clays(far less fun) or use a rifle will an appropriate backstop.
  3. Single Stack is not shooting - hunting instead. Don't know about Matt. I hope he comes.
  4. My friend has bought a cabin in the north Georgia mountains. He has 4 acres total. He would like to throw and shoot clay piegons off his back deck. How much down range buffer (in yards) do you need to shoot clays? Thanks.
  5. I'll be there - especially if Bear1142 is out of the competition! Where do we get the entry form?
  6. I was putting so much pressure on myself to be something I'm not and don't have the temperament to be, it wasn't fun anymore. I successfully turned IPSC shooting into ditch-digging. At least when I dug ditches for a living, I got paid. No one in their right mind would give me 10 cents to shoot an IPSC match. There's a lot of other reasons I don't want to shoot the IPSC-style stuff: the gear-intensiveness of it all, then there's shooting indoors for half the year (which I hate for various reasons). 3-gun has been a total disaster for me too. It seemed like it would be cool and fun. It turned out to be tunnel digging. And that's mostly what people want to do anymore. I'm not on Hogan's Heroes, so I'll leave the tunneling to better qualified candidates. I'd be happy to master just one gun, and I think that's just what I'll go do. Cool. I understand. Good luck Eric. Cy
  7. Happy Birthday Eric. So what lead to your decision to take a hiatus from shooting IPSC? Thanks.
  8. That's th stuff. It seems to feed fine out of my M1S90, but I'll keep looking for some AA's. Thanks.
  9. +1! Hot re-holstering of Open guns I'm not RO'ing!
  10. I fired about 100 rounds of Walmart special Winchester Universal shells, 3 dram, 1 1/8 oz, #8 out of my Benelli M1S90. It seems to work fine. Anyone have problems with using this cheap ammo? I couldn't find my usual AA Heavy Target Loads. Thanks.
  11. Yep - my 5 Glocks cost me about the same as a new, semi-custom STI with mags!
  12. Only 200? Just joking Ronnie! Good points. It's not what the cool kids are saying, but I for one like USPSA 3 gun matches. I like having to shoot A's with a .223 rifle. I like power factors. Yes, the scoring could be simpler, but I leave that to the higher minds. I commend the USPSA board for modifying/updating the rules. When you run an organization by committee, change is rarely simple or quick. Also, don't forget that the USPSA President is one of the best Open 3 gunners around. He knows a thing or two about the game and he and the Board are changing things for the better. I agree with George that standardizing equipment rules across all matches would benefit competitors. However, I don’t think that all the match rules/scoring should be the same. Variety is the spice. I do get sick of the USPSA 3 gun bashing by some shooters (although I understand Greg O’s frustrations). If you don’t like it, then get involved and make positive suggestions. Otherwise, don’t shoot USPSA 3G and keep your negativity to yourself. As a note, the Ft. Benning match will have power factors (for pistol only) and USPSA-like scoring. That sounds like fun!
  13. Thanks for posting the stages Mark. Two questions. 1. Will there be any available support for the 100 yard head shots (e.g., port, table, large rock, etc) or will they be only shooter supported (e.g., off hand kneeling, prone, etc)? 2. What's the distance on the slug shots? Thanks.
  14. I also like country music. I still like other types of music, but sometimes simple is good. My wife got us tickets to Wynonna two summers ago. I was not a big fan, but I agreed to go. Wynonna is one of those artists that actually sounds better in concert than she does recorded. It was an excellent concert. I'm now a big fan.
  15. Julie discusses the Open Glock built by John Nagel here
  16. I tried drilling the trigger bar for the first time today. I used a Dremel tungten carbide cutter bit (because that's what I had sitting around) in my drill press. It cut through with no problems or heating. The hole is a little too big, but still servicable. The bar is very thin on the sides of the hole. I will pick up a smaller Dremel tungten carbide cutter bit for future drilling.
  17. I've not heard good things about the titanium striker, but the 4 lbs striker spring will help your trigger pull. Make sure it will ignite your primers! Drilling the trigger bar will also help. Do a search in the Glock section. Good luck.
  18. Thanks guys. AustionMike - What size front sight are you using. I have the tallest one.
  19. So don't laugh, but I really like my Uncle Mikes belt holster. However I recently when with some Dawson adjustable sights and the UM sight channel is too short. Any way to make the sight channel fit? I tried heating it up with a heat gun and reforming it, but it just messed it up and didn't increase the sight chanel.
  20. I did a search on AR15.com and apparently the XM193PD stuff is classified as "Grade 3" or QC rejects (assuming the thread info is correct). Here's the thread: XM193PD
  21. I have some 155's lying around and would like to work up a major load for my Glock 22. I currently use 4.7 grains of Titegroup under a 180 Zero JHP (Disclaimer: Flex thinks, and I agree, that 4.7 at 1.130 OAL is hot). Any suggestions for a Titegroup load with 155's? Thx.
  22. Where are you guys buying the XM193? Also, is the XM193PD as good or is it QC rejects? Thanks.
  23. Happy Birthday John! (a little late). Cy
  24. Congrats!! I've taken two: GA and FLA. I took FLA right out of law school and it was no problem. I took GA years later while working full time for the new firm. That was horrible! The longer you're out of law school the harder it is because you focus only on your practice area. You don't think about things like Constitutional law, criminal law, real property, etc (depending on your practice area). It all worked out though. What are your plans now Jeeper?
  25. I'm looking for an accurate 55 grain round to shoot out to 300 yards or so out of my 20" AR upper with a 1/12 twist. Any thoughts on: * Black Hills 55 grain FMJ reloads. * GA Arms makes a 55 grain "Precision Plus" with Nosler Balistic Tip. * Ultramax 55 grain with Nosler Balistic Tip, reloaded * Any other commercial 55 grain round. Thanks.
