  1. No thanks. A friend of mine has a HS2000 and wants to sell it. I'm just trying to figure out if there's any differnce between it and the XD.
  2. Thanks MM. This is a quote off the Impactguns web site: "Since 2001, an improved version of the HS2000 pistol is exclusively imported into USA as the Springfield XD (eXtreme Duty) pistol." I didn't know if the XD had any improvements over the HS2000.
  3. I understand that the XD is a SA-branded HS2000 made in Croatia. Is there any diffence in the earlier HS2000 model vs. the current SA-branded XD models?
  4. I think I understand your technique, but it's one of those things that's more easily shown than described. Thanks.
  5. Yep, it's around $200 for the course. It's a computer learning course. I bought a "learn spanish in your car" audio CD course off eBay for about $30. It has 8 CDs and is probably similar to Shred's course. I'll report back after I've used it. BTW - interesting side note. I took Spanish in Jr. High. Our teacher had a side business of raising and selling big cats (e.g., tigers, leapards, etc.). He did not show up for class for several days. A neighbor found him - apparently mauled by one of his leapards. He was a great guy. RIP. Thanks. Cy
  6. But, but wait. He wrote a couple childrens' books that no one ever read. That should get him out of answering for multiple murders . . . Just ask Snoop Dog!
  7. I want to know So can you describe the key to weak hand loading in words (maybe requires a different thread)? Thx. Cy
  8. I've never had problems monpoding - except on stage 12 at Ft. Benning. I had multiple jams on a mag I've used many times monpoding - with no problems.
  9. Since it's become the unofficial second language of the US, I'd like to learn Spanish. Has anyone used the CD learning courses to use Spanish or any other language? If so: * is it effective/does it work? * which specific CD course did you use? Gracious amigos! Cy
  10. I was talking with PaulE at the Ft Benning match about whether anoyone ever monopods off of the Thermold 30/45 (when extended). The Thermold 30/45 is my only 40+ mag for my AR, but I never thought it was fit for monopoding when prone. PaulE monopods with his with no problems. I was wondering if anyone else has tried it?
  11. Maybe I don’t understand the original question but, IMO, polishing the internals or changing springs has nothing to do with the LENGTH of the trigger reset. They may contribute to a smoother or stronger reset, but they don’t change the length. The trigger resets after firing when the nose of the trigger bar slips back down under the connector – then the trigger is ready to fire again. The distance the trigger must travel forward in order to reset is the relevant distance. Two thing affect that distance: (1) the type of connector, and (2) over-travel. Connectors. The angle of the 3.5# connector is such that it requires the trigger to travel further forward than the 5# connector. This difference is attributable to the respective angles of the two different connectors – the same angle that give them differing pull weights. All things being equal, the 5# connector yields a shorter reset. Over-travel. The Glock trigger has some over-travel. If you shorten that over-travel, then you shorten the distance the trigger must move in order to reset. You can shorten the over-travel in several ways. One method is to use a over-travel stop of some kind. The easiest method is to buy a prepped housing from Charlie Vanek. You can also use the Ghost Rocket connector that has a over-travel stop built in. You’ll need to custom fit the Ghost Rocket connector to your Glock, but it’s not hard. The shape of the trigger bar nose can also affect the reset, but I don’t muck around with that angle. You can get the Glock rockin’ doubles and more when mucking with that angle. Don’t ask me how I know . . .
  12. Actually - MINOR! It was a training model that shoot a 9mm round. You had to shoot some steel with it at the beep.
  13. A good gas Airsoft gun is also a companion to dry fire - especially when you can't live fire. The slide does cycle and is a good focus exercise.
  14. I avoid asking many people "how is it going?" during matches because they usually give you detail about their crappy day.
  15. If you can't get them made from that guy, drop Mike Benedict a line at Talon Tactical: Talon Tactical Mike has made me a holster and some mag pouches. He does good work and will do custom stuff as well.
  16. Great match Bill and Cindy! I enjoyed shooting with fellow BE'ers md1911, Razz, MHearn and David Tapp (forget his screen name). Congrats to Malcome Davis (md1911) who gave us a clinic in long gun shooting all afternoon! I'm glad you're not from GA! Congrats to Razz - who came in 3rd Tactical in his first 3 gun match. Congrats also to Roger Cash for holding off the A6 champion (Still Praying) for the Open win. Cy
  17. I don't use one in competition, but I do have an upper with one. When I use the VF, I still grab the handguard and only my pinky and ring finger touch the VF. This feel very natural and I like it. They do limit you on how/where you can put the forearm for an improvised rest. I may try it in some local matches in the future. I recently had a chance to shoot some full auto M-4's and M16's. The VF seemed to help my hold when shooting full auto.
  18. I ordered a new spring from Beven Grams. He took time to listen to my problem and said I was likely getting spring bind. My Briley tube has a solid end cap (although it will screw on and off) - unlike the DMW tube that has a "floating" end cap. The DMW floating end cap helps to keep the spring from twisting in the tube when you screw down the extended tube. You'll notice that factory, non-extended tubes usually use a mag spring retainer under the end cap. That part keeps the spring from twisting when screwing down the end cap. The factory Benelli mag spring retainer is too small for Briley tube. Apparently the inside diameter of the Briley tube is slightly larger than the factory tube. I installed the new spring and was getting major binding - the last round would not go in the tube. I then used the factory Benelli mag spring retainer in the Briley tube. Even though the factory Benelli mag spring retainer is undersized for the Briley tube, is seemed to eliminate the binding and all 8 shells seated easily with positive feeding during dry fire. I need to go fire it before the GA State this weekend to make sure all is well. Thanks for your helpful comments and thanks to Beven.
  19. The Bladetechs hold the gun tighter to the body than the UM's holster - which I don't like for competition. The Bladetechs do have a taller sight channel that works with taller after market sights - which the UM holster does not have. I know the UM are no longer legal for IDPA, but believe the Bladetechs are.
  20. Pacman, How did you make sure the cut was paralell with the orignal end of the buttstock? Did you have to sand down the pad to make it fit? Thx.
  21. I got a cheapo Russian spotting scope that's 20-50x. I can see holes at 100 with no problem. At 200, I use the Shoot-n-see targets and I can then see holes with no problem. Without the Shoot-n-see targets at 200, I would not be able to see .223 holes. It's NOT quality glass, but it works for how I use it.
