  1. Yup. I did a bit of research with the links provided and some Google-fu and found that the SV should be a bit hotter than V. Like comparing Tightgroup (V) and Clays (SV). If I'm mistaken about what I read, please someone chime in.
  2. Thanks for posting this. With all the ranges in my area banning FMJ, I ordered the SP version.
  3. I think I'll be stocking up on some Prima SV. I like that it's a granular and not a flake. Should meter nicely. Looks to be a fast burn powder ideal for 9 minor. If anyone has any recipes for SV I'm all ears.
  4. Do you have a thread to elaborate more on your experience with this powder? Do you know if it plays nice in .45?I'm about to make my yearly powder purchase and I'm seriously considering picking up a few #s of this powder I know little about.
  5. Maybe I'm overlooking it, but where does it state anything about magwells and FLDCs not being used together in ESP?
  6. I don't have first hand experience with the BHP, but from what fans of the gun have posted, it isn't very forgiving on the reloads. I suppose it isn't anything that can't be overcome with enough practice.
  7. Gamers push the envelope. It's not a bad thing until you cross the line.
  8. Have you given Matt a call yet? He has a rep for excellent customer service.
  9. You can pick up a used eagle for roughly $1600. Even a custom one for a little over $2k depending on the builder, options and equipment it may come with. If that's a bit rich for your blood then you can't go wrong with either the 1911 or CZ. Hard to beat a quality 1911 trigger but the mag chute of the CZ would be nice too.
  10. v1911What's the advantage to JHP's at a sanctioned match? It's a personal preference thing for consistency. Local match ammo looks like this: Mixed brass Cheapest primers Coated bullets Sanctioned match ammo: Uniform brass (Winchester, Speer, Starline) CCI primers JHP bullets
  11. Do you have a link for these? I can only find their 124gr. Sorry, I musta been drunk again when I posted that. The 147gr JHP I have are Zero. And they're $109 a thousand. My bad.
  12. You would still be required to Barney. So at the very least, you'd be 9+1.
  13. At $98 per 1000 (when purchasing 2k minimum), PDs 147gr JHP is a great deal as well and my choice for sanctioned matches.
  14. Division capacity for ESP is 10+ 1.
  15. If you have a 2011 on the list then the 1911 is redundant. If I didn't have the cash for the 2011, the CZ would probably be my go to.
  16. Did the ACME thing. Didn't care for the packaging and there were a number of bullets that had a rough finish. They shot just fine and the price was good but I think I'll be going back to Bayou for my 147gr needs. The lipstick red was my driving force behind trying them. I can live with gator snot green.
  17. Cost, easier to clean, longer barrel life and increased velocity compared to jacketed. Yes, they can be shot in barrels that normally shy away from lead.
  18. We don't have the epic 50 page threads that USPSA does, but we try.
  19. I use it to load SD .45 rounds. Gets me the velocity I'm looking for and low flash.
  20. I had WMD Guns NP3 several mags for me. Decent cost and I really liked the results.
  21. Interesting that the vest has developed such an unpopular nickname. Has anyone ever seen a news article or broadcast of a person wearing a vest for concealment being shot?
  22. Why? Because we're playing a game that was founded around self defense. And while we can all agree that these scenarios don't really simulate that, accuracy is the primary goal. It always has been.Off topic. I don't know if many of you guys are experiencing it as well, but our club is seeing a huge spike in new shooters each week. Maybe it's the tax return shooters, but we're getting 3-4 new shooters attending various matches each week. All age ranges. They must not have Internet, because according to many of us, IDPA is about to be the most dull thing next to watching paint dry.
  23. Those folks already aren't winning, and it isn't making any difference to how they are deciding to shoot. Is there some reason you feel they deserve to be penalized more? It's definitely the exception and not the rule, but I've witnessed a few shooters that place rather well (locally) placing a premium on speed rather than marksmanship. Some of those shooters are top 3 finishers or at the very least, top 5 overall. I don't see this rule some much as penalizing those shooters as much as rewarding the guys that take the time to get their sights on target and edging out the guys that pray and spray. Maybe I'm more a "half full kinda guy".
  24. I should clarify. It won't make a difference for the better shooters. Where it can make a positive difference is by forcing those pray and spray types to work on being better marksmen.
