  1. Thank you to all the staff that made this area 4 match a success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to ALL the sponsors!!!!!!!!!! With out your support some people would have more to complaint about. I need to thank STI, Black Bullets Int, and Drazy Metal Works for their continued suopport. Without them I would not be where I am today. I even go to meet the NEW marshall...er.... president of STI. Hope to see Tim Dillon at more of the matches. Thanks Dave, Don, Tim, Tony, and Tom. To the vendors, THANK YOU. It's great to be able to grab something that you need right there at the match. Jimmy thanks so much for doing all the transfers. Congrats to Carina!!!!!!!!!! WOW what a weekend girl. Stage win, class win, category win. It's early in the year, there's more matches to win. Congrats to ALL the division class and category winners....way to many for me to remember. And Thanks to my wife for all the extra work around the house while I went and played.
  2. Ground squirrel @ 30 feet DRT. He ran, but died tired. Took better than half a clip of nails (60 nails to a clip). Our Senco Frame Pro 600 will shoot real fast. The problem with flying nails is they start tumbling real quick. They will fly a longggggggg way but always tumbling. If you shoot enough of them you can get one to stick in wood at 30+ feet.
  3. RIP We still have his music.
  4. You'll spend a grand plus on a optic for the rifle and have a spare in the bag in case that one takes a crap....and you're gasping about $700 for a 23+ rd shotgun tube........PLEASE.
  5. I got to demo one last week. He had it on a Mossberg 930. That thing ran great. 23 rds at a time, we shot the steel stage from the SSC Nationals. We ran 4+ cases of Federal ammo through it. Once you get going with it you don't even notice it's there. Very well built. Super great guy. He's trying hard to get them going on most every shotgun out there.
  6. Ok swingers at 25 yards it is .......but I'm really not into swinging though......
  7. I use Frankford Arsenal Spray lube. I put 40/50 pcs. in a cookie pan: spray roll around a bit spray again roll around a bit let set 5 minutes and go. Not too much or you will get lube dents. A case mouth brush and using the powder on the case mouth seems to help some too. I don't find it hard to work the press for hundreds of rounds at one time. Not sure why it's hard on your elbow and bench. If the brass is really grungy you may want to clean it before and after resizing. I use my 550 like a single stage press. I deprime and resize all my brass then I tumble them to clean all the lube and crap off. Then I trim and prep the brass as needed. When I go to load the brass I have a seperate tool head with the powder and bullet seater.
  8. Yep....when I ride I treat all other drivers as IDIOTS. I have never had to lay her down.....but we have lost some rubber several times. I wish the gov't would let us use 6 million candle power lights for headlights.
  9. Thanks. I will keep you in mind if we end up needing extra set up help.
  10. That'd be nothing new Jim. I'm glad it's working the way you wanted.
  11. I knew a guy once that souped up a Pinto to drag race with........
  12. 17 days now. The eyes are doing great, less blurry at distance anyway. They get better everyday. Today started out with them being a little sore and not letting me keep them open for long periods. Blinking wasn't enough, they needed some more shut eye I guess. Pistol sights are great now, no fuzz at all. The targets and sights look really good. Rifle scopes are the BIGEST improvement of all. I had to re-adjust all the focus rings. Before the reticales were always a little fuzzy, same with binos. I never could get them to focus right. Now they are clear as can be. Hank they told me to water the eyes regularly wether I thought they'd need it or not. I do it every 4 hours or sooner. Hope your enhancment goes well.
  13. Check that the barrel has been finish reamed. I had one that the smith missed finish reaming it. I chased it with a finish reamer and now it runs great.
  14. Congrats. We hope the very best for you and your family.
  15. I jump in here. First 500 rds an month is nothing. Second is the 308 going to be for a precision rifle? Th 550 will be better for precision rifle loading. The 550 is very versitale. The 650 is more complicated . I have 2 550's, a 650, and a 1050. Unless I was loading high volumes of ammo I'd stick with a 550. The change over from small primers to large primers is quiker. If you go the 650 with case feeder route, the case feed change over is going take time too. Yes the case feeder makes loading quiker. But at 500 rounds a month it's a wash IMO. You could get 2 550's for just a little more than a 650. And IMO if you get the 650 and don't get the case feeder you wasting your time and money. Thats were the 650 really shines over the 550. From my experiance the 650 will double the rd output of a 550. Loading ammo is not so much about quanity, but quality. Which ever way you go, be sure to buy extra tool heads and powder dies. Get a spare parts kit for the press and extra primer tubes in both primer sizes. Also if you think at any time you will load other .473 bolt face calibers (.308 & 45 ACP) get the powder funnels for those calibers too. The 308 shell plate works with a LOT of calibers. Definetly call Brian. He'll hook you right up.
  16. Glad you're ok. Handgun powders in rifle cartridges usually don't mix well. I was working on some low powered/sub sonic loads for my 30'06. Not having any Trail Boss on hand I tried the bulkyest powder I had, Clays. Taking some reloading info from others before me I had a start load. That all worked fine with several bullet weights. Still a little too fast I lowered the powder a little. At first I thought that was the end problem, nope. I alway load on a Dillon peogressive. But for this I drug out my ol' Lyman #55 powder measure. Well if you aren't real carefull you could grab the same case twice and put powder in it. I beleive thats what happened, cause the second rd went BOOOOOMMM! and the smoke rolled everywhere. I took the last 3 rds apart and one didn't have any powder. Pulled the barrel to see the problem. The case head expanded so much it cracked the rim of the bolt keeping it from being pulled back through the receiver. I'm ok but the bolt is toast. 22 grains of Clays will not work in a 30'06. The 11 grain load was nice though.
  17. JBM calculates the max range for a Winchester 230 ball 45 ACP at 1783.3 yds. If fired at @ 32.5 degree angle. Back on subject. I like to play around and try odd stuff as much as the next guy....but when it comes down to getting the job done....I'm with Kgunz.....get the right equipment. Yes the balistic data for my 178 Amax 308 load shows I can go 1200+ yards. But if I need to go that far I probably need to call for artilary
  18. I've just had PRK done 9 days ago. I can tell you that I am just now able to set at the computer and focus on the screen. They said it will take a while for the vision to settle in. At reading chart range they were very impressed that I could read the 20/25 line. Said I will get better vision. At distance the vision is still blurry. Looking through a rifle scope it takes a few seconds for the eyes to focus on the reticle, but clear. Pistol front sight is clean and clear, very sharp....unless the eyes get dry. I don't know if it will help me be a better shooter.....but I can tell you I am lovin' not havin' to find where I put my glasses after I take my contacts out. I have noticed that I like to wear my persimion color Oakly's when looking at the comp screen and TV. The V28's rock outside. I told the Doc what I did for work (carpenter) and what I did for a hobby. I asked if I should have the vision corrected any different than normal to acheive a clear front sight, he said nope. I might need reading glasses eventually but at front sight distance he ashurd me the vision will be fine. I go back for a check up at 1 month and 6 months and again in 1 year. If I can remember I will post more then. I had a very bad astigmatisum, don't ask me the prescription cause I don't know that stuff. So PRK was the only treatment I could do according to the doc. I'll tell you right now that you will want to take several days off work. Day 2 I stayed in bed with my eyes closed.
  19. Stuck care remover from Midway or your well stocked local gunshop. But da po' man way, you can drill a hole at the flash hole for a self taper bolt or similar. Use a nut larger then the case head but still small enough to stay on the die and screw out the stuck case. You may need a washer on the bolt to keep it from going though the nut.
  20. George is a Range Master and I'm very sure he knows the rules.
  21. Short answer, yes you will be DQ'd. I believe rule 10.5.1 will be the rule applied. There are plenty of safety areas that are put there for your use. Think safety first. Hope this helped. Edit to add: Email this to Amidon, he's always looking for new material to use in Front Sight.
  22. Congrats to both of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
