Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Many of the DQ's were early in the day.
  2. Scores have been posted every few hours, there evidently is a problem on the USPSA website and they are aware of the situation -- or so I have been told.
  3. I have no intention of doing this myself. More concerned with the muzzle diameter and its reduction for bushing clearance.
  4. I recently bought a 5" barrel in .40 S&W. Got to thinking about doing the building as a Commander sized gun. What is involved in having the barrel cut and a bushing fit to do this, or is it a bad idea?
  5. The Single Stack dates are on the 1911ssc.com site
  6. Picked up a Colt Commander built by Richard Heinie in 1977/78 (RH26), sent it to him and had it reconditioned and got it back last week. Would like to have a vintage IPSC holster for it, but not sure what that would be, if any of you guys have something from the late 70s and are willing to part with it contact me.
  7. I've been informed that the knives have shipped and everyone should receive one soon.
  8. Other than gun manufacture we did not have the rest of the equipment on the survey.
  9. Gary, I hope everyone appreciates all the work you put into making this a legitimate division in USPSA. It has always been the match is the most fun for me to work, in fact, after 20 years it is the only match I work anymore. Mainly to see friends and lie about the past. See you in a few weeks.
  10. Received a somewhat surprising email with some attendance numbers. 2013 Revolver Nationals: 119 2013 Multi-Gun Nationals: 217 2013 Limited Nationals: 246 2013 Production Nationals: 295 2013 Open/Lim-10 Nationals: 356 (258/98) 2013 Single Stack Nationals: 372 Not bad for a bastard child that was started by Richard Heinie and Russell Cluver to get back to the practical roots of the USPSA. The match began as the Single Stack Classic about 20 years ago and grew until some wanted to see Single Stack as a Division. The USPSA did and joined with the 1911 Society and look where we are now. The 2014 Single Stack Nationals has 400 shooters registered. We should of had theme of Back to the Future for the match. Congratulations to all those involved over the years for a great and enjoyable match.
  11. That would work!!!! However, the match is not set up that way and probably won't be. Otherwise a perfectly good solution.
  12. I'll venture in this once (then I'll disappear again). I have worked the match and I have done the squadding for 17 years (although not this year). The self squadding does not work well for multi day matches where the shooter shoots the match in one day (it works well for multi-day where you shoot all of those days). We had people who would look at the self squadding page, see spots left on Saturday (that were committed to others who just had not taken the time to chose their squad) and then they would try to take a day they were to be registered for . The only way to police this was to look at the site every day and go over every name (there is/was the option to lock a squad once it was full. RGKeller is mis-remembering, I have never posted squad lists with the exception of the self-squadding time and one other time late in the registration process I posted a list of registered shooters with squads listed, which precipitated a couple of dozen emails with very late requests to change squads -- a nightmare to attempt (think of dominoes falling). Then there are the cancelations and trying to contact people on the waiting list, who then want a few days to check on arrangements, or want to take three friends with them, not possible with one cancellation. For the person tasked with squadding, it is a daunting task, a thankless task. DWFan, it would be nice if the self-squadding page worked with the uniqueness of the Single Stack Match, but it does not. Please remember that these are volunteers who are doing this work. Try and be polite, try to follow the proper order (don't call the USPSA President for information that is already posted somewhere, etc). Most of us are trying to be helpful, cooperate and help where and when we can. Don't try and bully your way into the match, or for a squad change (strangely enough it is usually the same people year after year who do this). This is supposed to be fun. After 17 years, it stopped being fun.
  13. Quincy is about 25 miles from the range, Hannibal, MO is a little closer, but more isolated from match activities. The match hkotel is the Microtel, there is al ist of area motels on the 1911ssc.org site.
  14. Historically Sat fills up with slots and there are no spaces available. However, if you ask for a day and it is full you will be offered another choice. I know it presents potential travel issues but it is the way this match ahs been run since ints inception, not likley to change. XDCR -- what are your bunch more questions? Feel free to contact me offlist.
  15. Even for the Waitlist ? Website says waitlist starting Jan 1st, based on postmark? Yes, even for the wait list. The slots expire on Dec. 31st (midnight) the wait list opens Jan 1st. As I understand it the mail will be sorted by postmark and entered into the match in that order beginning Jan 1st. The earlier you send it in the better chance you have of getting an unclaimed spot. Your check won't be "cashed" until you are entered into the match, if you don't get in it will be returned to you. People with slots automatcially have a spot in the match as long as they send in their entry by end of the day on Dec. 31st.
