  1. +1. I did the exact same thing. The DA with the suede liner is bulky and has too much friction on the draw. It also doesn't allow my thumb to grip around the top of the left safety on the draw. It's bad enough that DA abandoned this 3rd party design and is introducing a new kydex holster without suede liner. Lester
  2. I haven't looked but maybe you can drill a new hole that lines up with the Mecgar locking plate?
  3. They work for me. I have the CZ rubber base pads on my Mecgar 19 rounders (which is the 17 tube with a +2 base). I also bought the CZ mag base lock plate and the combo works perfectly.
  4. I only needed a little aluminum foil between the backside of the spacer and the mag pouch to make it work.
  5. The industry has been duped into believing one year wait times are necessary. LOL. Yep, duped is what I think too. But, Gans built mine, a fully custom open gun. I hated to hear he retired, again. Yeah, I know a few folks with his guns. Quality gear. I am very happy with my local smith. He can typically turn out something between 4-8 weeks tops, but he keeps you informed the whole way. No surprises. And most importantly, the gun runs and runs. +1 on your local smith. It's so awesome that he'll take your gun after a Saturday match, do whatever you need (fit, adjust, install, cut...) and bring it back the following Saturday ready for the next match. Lester
  6. Home Depot has them. I believe M3 or M4
  7. Sorry for the terse response - was really busy earlier. So I made the initial request in Sept around the time CA congress was going to take the final vote on a bill to remove the single shot exemption clause in our safe gun roster law. In case that happened, there would be no way to get an off-roster gun after Dec 2013. I called Stuart and discussed it. He was aware of the situation and was committed to doing whatever was possible to help me get my Shadow before the end of the year. At that time, he was expecting delivery in late Oct/ early Nov. Nov came around and he revised the dates based on actual supply to be late Nov/ early Dec. It was shipped out Dec 11. So all in all, about twelve weeks. Lester
  8. Ordered in Sept. Received at FFL today!!!
  9. If the mag pouches are really wide where they loop onto the belt and cover up a lot of velcro (e.g. CR Speed), then you could add velcro to the back sides of the mag pouches to help.
  10. Depends on how heavy the gear is, not the wearer. I only have a 2" overlap and have never had a problem with: CZ SP-01 4 x 10 round mags Also have run: STI Edge 3 x 20 round mags
  11. Evike.com and Airsoftgi.com are very good sources for most airsoft stuff. But as stated, you need to know the MFG. I have a WE SV clone airsoft and I bought it and spare mags at Evike.com.
  12. Is there a place where we can see who's in what squad and the number of slots still available by squad? I signed up and want to point some friends to the same squad but not sure if there's still slots open in the squad I selected. Thanks, Lester
  13. Yes, they are different. Additionally, if you have a gen4, you need to buy the magwell specific to the backstrap you're using.
  14. +1 I load two different lengths: 1.130 for my Glock and 1.180 for my STI. My STI will fail to feed the shorter rounds 30% of the time.
  15. I made the transition recently. i consciously slowed down so I could build a solid foundation with my new Edge. i think it took about two months including an area championship (total of 40+ stages over this timespan) to really get comfortable with the new hardware. I am definitely shooting better than i was with my Glock, but then it's hard to say whether I might have had similar improvements with an extra 40+ stages on the Glock instead of the STI. In short, I'd advise trying to slow down so you can become familiar with the new gun. Lester
  16. Either is GTG out of box. I like fixed sights on my competition guns since they don't move once they're dialed in. I have an SP-01 with custom shop trigger job and it's great. I placed an order for the Shadow Custom a few weeks ago and was told to expect it around December. Lester
  17. The way to clear this type of jam in my experience is to: 1 - Hold gun facing downrange 2 - grip the slide from the top with my left hand in an overhand grip along the rear serrations with thumb pointed back toward me 3 - Using my right hand, forcefully strike the rear of the grip along the grip safety as if I'm grabbing the gun but with extreme force so as to force the frame forward while holding the slide still Tough to explain in words. Here's a vid. Go to 2m50s.
  18. Major fitting required!!! This one is made to be oversized so it can be perfectly fitted to the frame.

  20. I replaced my STI grip safety for the same reason. It was cutting/ bruising the web between my thumb and index finger no went with an EGW without "thumb relief" and it's been perfect.
  21. What's the problem? Is your thumb too short to get on top of the safety to pivot it downward?
