  1. I just got a new Springfield Armory Range Officer. Loaded it up and shot from a bench with terrible groups from 15yds. I was shooting my usual minor loads I shoot in my CZ SP-01 Shadow: 147gr plated Xtreme 3.3gr Titegroup 1.130" OAL ~0.378" crimp Out of the RO, the bullets are tumbling, some slightly and some full keyholes. Shooting 124gr Blazer Brass bears no such problems - everything perfect. Shot my loads out of the CZ and again, no problem. So... I loaded more ammo. Longer OAL @ 1.150 and 1.160 Increased powder charge to 3.5 and 3.6gr Things got slightly better but still tumbling... however, when I tried my original loads again the groups got tighter. Instead of eight inch groups, they're about five inch groups @ 15yds. A friend hypothesized that perhaps the barrel needs to be broken in with harder, jacketed bullets before the plated will work well. I hadn't heard this before, but the more I shoot the RO, the better the groups get. Any thoughts? Suggestions welcome. Thanks, Lester

    CGW Firing Pin

I've been using the extended firing pin in two separate SP-01s for over 15k rounds without issue.
  3. Thanks for all of the opinions and experiences. I called Stuart yesterday to order the CZ 75 Shadow Custom and hope to receive it soon. I'll report back any interested findings when I shoot it back to back with my SP-01 version of the same gun. Lester

    CZ 9mm loads

I use the same load. These days it depends a bit on what powder you can get, so what do you have on hand? Lester
  5. Rowdy, thank you for the in-depth assessment. I am waiting for an SP-01 Shadow Custom from CZC as a duplicate backup. While I wait, I will buy the CZ 75 Shadow Custom that's avail now. Looking forward to trying the short dust cover!!! Lester
  6. I have a 75B SP-01 and an SP-01 Shadow. I've never shot the CZ 75 with the short dustcover. In theory, less weight could offer faster transitions, but also introduce more muzzle flip. I'd like to hear from those who have actually shot these two how you feel they're different. Thanks!

    Ejector question

That's the extractor. It's normal; mine do it too.
  8. Here's my grip tape. You can contact James for a custom design @ info@a-zonegear.com.
  9. What's the best airport to fly into for this match? Thanks

  11. They were done by a local audiologist in Orange County. We redid them with a bite block with little improvement. The right one just would wiggle out with movement. I got a pair of Instamold plugs this past weekend at a match and they seal really well. Lester
  12. Comp hammer has hooks that are cut more aggressively removing the camming and free play from the hammer/ sear connection. Doing so will make the action very crisp, like that "glass rod breaking" we all like to feel. If you're planning to replace the disconnector, then you've already disassembled everything you would need in order to replace the hammer. The sear makes no difference as to the ease of installing the hammer. What the adjustable sear from CGW gives you is the ability to adjust it so that the safety will NOT engage while the hammer is down (like your factory gun operates). In some cases, using the comp hammer with the factory sear will allow the engagement of the safety even when the hammer is down. Doesn't negatively affect anything, but if you don't like that then get the adjustable sear.
  13. Chuck, thanks. i got in touch with Troy and worked it out. I wish i could take the time off to enjoy the weekend with friends but it's just not possible this time. Appreciate your help. Lester
  14. Chuck, I'd like to shoot the pre-match, but am not clear whether it's two days or three. The squadding stated M-T-W, but the website says "We added an extra day to this match due to demand. You can still shoot it in two days. " Do you know if the prematch will be a two day schedule? Thanks, Lester
  15. I'm in. Per email from Ken, "This morning I've approved to shooter #580 for payment and squadding."
  16. what was your wait list number?
  17. Same deal here. 100% reliable with the aforementioned setup. Ive run CCI's and WSP's with absolutely no issues. 100% and ALOT of rounds down range. +1 on the set up. I've been running CCI over the past six months (6-7k rounds) and ZERO light strikes.

    CZ 75/SPO1 Safety

I installed this but didn't see a huge difference. I finally stopped flipping the stupid safety when I practiced to not do it anymore. Just spend a half day and do a bunch of drills drawing the gun and focus on getting your thumb up and over the safety. That's all you need.
  19. Latest per the website: "We are currently working on opening squadding and we’ll be emailing competitors instructions over the next few days when we have the schedule all worked out." Sounds like a process and preparation delay, not a technological delay. Lester
  20. I use this for the rear. This for the front. (Shooting 147gr)
  21. I sent Dave an email Friday night asking for some guidance on fitting a short reset disconnector. I had an email from him on Saturday with a photo describing where to do a little adjusting. I didn't expect a weekend response, but I got one.
  22. If this is a Shadow Target Custom built by CZ Custom, then it likely has the extended firing pin since they install that as part of the process. Maybe an old mainspring?
  23. How quickly did you get through the online registration - was it close to the time they opened it up? I like and agree with your logic which means anyone under #720 should get in, right? Thanks
  24. Here's the answer to when the waitlist would open and how they're releasing spaces: How it works PractiScore’s registration system works off of e-mails. When approved you get an e-mail inviting you to pay. This link is personal to your registration. When you pay, you get an e-mail with your squadding link. It also is personal to you. Share these links if you want others to pay or squad for you. Those of you who already paid with slots will just get the squadding link. We see e-mails that bounce and will attempt to correct if obvious or the information is available in USPSA records. If not, we will call you to get your correct e-mail address. Squadding starts Monday: Mon - 11PM EST - all registered via slots will be sent their squadding email Tue and on… - approve 50 to 100 people daily that registered online until match is ful Lester
