  1. have been using mags for awhile ... They were 19rds except for 1 that was loading 20rds ... All of them running grams followers and spring combo w/ dawson SNL base pads with the grip tape cut off half way... After the springs settled they now all load 20rds and the 1 that loaded 20rds before now load 21rds... And they all fit the egw mag gauge, just as long I cut off the grip tape half way to the back of the base pads... When they gauge your mags @ a big match, do they do it with them loaded or empty ???
  2. This is a 7" Frame or a 6" Frame ??? 6" i've never heard of sti making 7" frames. Actually SV Infinity Does make a 7" Frame ... look @ www.jppimports.com
  3. Yeah thats what I'm stuck with ... Hard Chrome is more durable than Cerakote and its easier to clean... But that Burnty Bronze looks sooo freaking sexy

    6 Inch 40

I know this is an super old thread but I wanted to say your pistol looks sexy and did you know/remember exactly how much was the weight???
  5. Man thats sexy ... I'm torn between hard chrome and this finish
  6. This is true but the newest Gen 3 versions have a fully supported chamber. However, the chamber is on the loose side and the brass looks slightly barrel shaped after firing. No more pregnant guppy look, though, and that is definitely good. Take care, Dave I just starting reloading...will just running them through the normal process work or do I need a bulge buster (have no clue what that is, met a shooter at the range said he ran his through... I stood there going oh ok, not understanding a thing It all depends on what dies you use to reload... I reload with square deal B and the dies dont go all the way down the case when resizing. So I have to run them thru the lee bulge buster first then run them thru the square deal... I dont think this is a problem with reloading presses that use standard size dies.
  7. I loaded 180gr JHP Montana Golds w/ 4.7gr of WST @ 1.185" made 170pf will be trying out some 180gr TC Bear Creek with 4.2gr and 4.4gr of WST @ 1.185" and will post the results when I get to chrono
  8. I'm still waiting for my 6" while my buddy went with a bushing barrel setup... I was told by a reputable seller that a briley 6" guide rod ( with the take down hole) with a 6" reverse plug with 5" recoil spring will work... This is what I purchased ... I'll let you guys know as soon as I get mine in ....
  9. Here in SoCal ... Most shooters shoot 9mm Major because 38super brass are very rare and expensive... I figure theres a abundance of 38super in the east coast but very hard to find any kind of bulk brass here...
  10. why wouldnt be usable ??? They sell 2 piece 6" stainless steel guide rods with it...
  11. I ended up with a SV Infinity reverse plug and a Briley 1 piece Aluminum 6" guide rod from Shooters Connection and a 5" 10lb recoil spring... As for my buddy his getting the same set up as well... I'm going to try this setup first... If it dont work for me I'm use a 5" titanium or a 5" aluminum... Trying to save shave over all weight, since my pistol is a full dust cover...
  12. To really help quit ... try electronic cigarrettes, I'm a manufacturer of high end electronic cigarrette but still trying to bring my products to market. I started vaping ( we dont call it smoking because there nothing being burn, just liquid being vaporized hence vaping) in June 18, 2010 and slowly weened my self off nicotine in December 2010... And now just have the habit of vaping minus the nicotine. I still get the good flavor of a good cigar but minus the nicotine and the 4000 carcinogens from a cigarrette or cigar... Dont buy the electronic cigarrettes with the cartridges those dont create too much vapor and arent satisfying... Invest in something in High Voltage and heat... The investment is like shooting, the equipment is expensive but once you get going its just the juice and atomizers. A 6ml juice bottle can go for $2 to $6 dollars and can last 1 to 2 weeks. The Atomizers which vaporizes the juice cost $8 to $10 bucks and with care can last 3months... Batteries are rechargable and can last years... Pls let me know if I can help you if your interested in going this route... No I wont try to sell you my product but can help you make proper decisions, so you wont make mistakes like I did when I started...
  13. This is a 7" Frame or a 6" Frame ???
  14. I had the same question about the age of my STI Edge... All I did was contact STI International and they gladly looked it up for me ... dang it ... should have read the rest of your post. sorry
  15. Neal; I'm speaking about the Aluminum ones ... Thats what I have ... By the looks the B.A.M.'s funnel is very similar to the Dawson and not as steep of a angle as the CAPE...
  16. have anyone tried weight in these magwells ??? The Cape is the heaviest out of the 3, I've tried ( STI 1.3oz , Dawson Big Ice 1.45oz, & Cape 2oz+ ) ... Now I love the look of the Cape and its steep funnel design because it helps me with my reloads, more than the Dawson Big Ice. I cant seem to get a good support hand grip with the cape because my fat hands... With the Dawson I didnt have this issue but with the Cape I did ... And because of the weight of the cape it changed the characteristics of my pistols movement under recoil... I want to have the steep angle as the Cape but the room of it like the Dawson Big Ice ... Is the B.A.M. magwell have the same steep angle as the Cape ??? And how heavy is the B.A.M. compare to the Cape...
  17. correct me if i'm wrong but from looks alone - it seems that the dawson ice would leave less room positioning your hand higher on the grip - is that wrong? nope I had the dawson precision one... And replaced it with the Cape and because of the cape's front lip, that forces your weak hand to ride higher. While the Dawson Big ICE actually has more room.
  18. Magwell is made by CAPE and the only place I know that sells them is SpeedShooters.com ... I fell inlove with that magwell too and bought one to replace my dawson precision. It forces your hands higher up and tighter on the pistol. I havent shot it with this new magwell; dont know if I like the hold on her yet... I'll find out tomorrow @ the range... Thanks for the info on where I can find it, any feed back from the range? I am thinking about ordering one for my limited gun and I'm curious to know how your grip feels when you are shooting with it. Its plain awesome... feels great when gripping the pistol. The tighter grip actually helps with recoil alittle. And since the funnel is @ a steeper angle than the dawson it helps my crappy reloads...
  19. I have no issues with the Lee Buldge buster on my 40sw Glock brass... they run perfect after I run them thru...
  20. heres a 8" long slide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzPCORZcL7E
  21. your mags stick when they're completely empty or have a few rounds in them ??? My mags dont drop free when the're completely empty
  22. Magwell is made by CAPE and the only place I know that sells them is SpeedShooters.com ... I fell inlove with that magwell too and bought one to replace my dawson precision. 23. I'm interested in building an STI chambered in 460 Rowland... I figure since most STI barrels can accept longer than SAAMI lenght ammo. Is it possible to have a 45 acp barrel (from Schuemann, KKM, STI, Bar-Sto) fit a 460 Rowland; I mean its only 1/16" longer than your standard 45acp...
