  1. Mr. Lim and his son are good people... I've met then and their guns are freakin awesome but I fear my wallet or my wife would kill me if I made such a huge purchase... @want2race I understand but thats the difference between mass produced and custom ... JaeOne will agree ( that his a car guy) I've dropped $15K on a custom engine build and what I've expect is it'll not have a head gasket problem and the tolerances are right and compression is where I stated, them to be to my builder... It should start with the correct programming. Not lock up its pistons and wont even turn over... I understand engines are far more complicated than a pistol but the same thought process on the builders mindset is the same... If your spending $4k on up ... the bases should already be covered. You the customer should have told the builder I'm running the ammo @ this oal and this bullet design and these mags... all this has to be taken into account if your building a full custom... I personnally dont have this type of cash anymore ... So I build a factory mass produced pistol and modify it from their... Like my factory Edge or my coming soon STI Perfect 10... ps your avatar makes me wanna cry ... LOL, especially since I'm in Nazifornia and its sooo hard to get frames and these guns to hack them up...
  2. I kinda agree with JaeOne on this one... If We're talk springfield, hk, colt, cz, or glock... The 500 rounds break is fine because of the mass production. It is true a lemon could have fallen thru the cracks. But, with a builder (custom build); your not getting a mass produce item and you didnt pay mass production pricing... The price your paying for; is for that builder to take his time and give your build his attention and pour his heart and soul on each of his builds... Like Jaeone, at the shop he works @ you would expect perfection if you contract him to do a custom build, not one of those generic builds... Imagine if we were talking swords or katanas... The aahhh it'll start cutting better or it'll be solid after the first 500 swings or slashes doesnt work. The sword smithing is the same here with our pistols. Gunsmithing and sword smithing is art form and thats what your paying a builder for... His mastery of said art. Every builder should make sure his product if perfect when it leaves his shop. At the price we pay, it doesnt cost alot to make sure the pistol cycles before it is sent off to the customer... ps theres differences here I think that causes mis-communication... heres what I think: SV Infinity = Semi Custom ( because their volume) STI = Mass Produce Limcat = Almost custom (because of his volume) Custom = calling up *put your builders name here* contracting them to do a custom build for you ...
  3. I just saw this ... and I actually have a affinity to HK pistols till I shot my STI Edge but I still love my P30LS that I trade away for the STI ... I would like to get another one to run production with ...
  4. heres mine but I suck ... and only been shooting for 7months it has the very first time I shot USPSA I have still alot to learn... I'm still unclassified
  5. kinda common sense to me ... if you can afford a custom pistol; who would in their right mind run some tula ammo in their 3k to 4k pistol ???
  6. um if you spend the money on a custom build it should run right out of the box... If it doesnt then you paid too much for some bs
  7. Thanx for the comments guys ... I love my STI Edge, only wish my skills was as good as how she looks...
  8. I think Matt Cheely does it. www.ccgunworks.com He is also a site sponser. Bobby Keigans at Freedom Gunworks, along with Matt are the two people I know of. Spoke to Bobby before posting this and he said only on their custom builds
  9. Do you guys know where I can send my Barrel to get a spiral fluting ??? I'm in SoCal

  11. I cant keep running Montana Golds... And I'm planning to run some 40sw Bear Creeks with WST in my STI Edge w/ the factory barrel... My questions is which is softer and less flippy ... 180gr or 200gr... Please post you favorite loads and power factor... Another question since I'm going to load lead what do I have to do with the crimp on my Dillon Square Deal ??? Thanx in advance
  12. Chris; I'll pm you the price break down...
  13. I got this STI Edge 40sw of a trade for a my HK P30LS V1 chambered in 9mm. This is how I got here: STOCK STI Edge 40sw by rippspeed1, on Flickr I had Jimmy Vidanes install an Ed Brown grip safety, Dawson Precision front sight, Doug Koenig Low Mass Hammer, SV Infinity Thumb safety, STI gun smith flat trigger blank, Stipple the grip, under cut trigger guard and do a trigger job (trigger pull is crispy 1.5lbs). While I installed a Dawson Magwell, Dawson Posi lock extended mag release, Ed Brown mag button,Dawson tooless guide rod and wolf springs: and this is how she was for a few months while I messed with recoil springs: STI Edge 40sw stippled by rippspeed1, on Flickr After shifting thru the Brian Enos forums gallery section I finally realized what and how I wanted this Edge to look... So I had Dave's Metal Works do the finishing work on her... Dave did the flat top with 40lpi serations, hard chromed, and did my lightening cuts on her... And this is how she sits today: Hard Chromed STI Edge by "Dave's Metal Works" in Covina by rippspeed1, on Flickr The Flat top w/ 40lpi serations and lightening cuts: Flat Top 40lpi Lightened STI Edge 40sw by rippspeed1, on Flickr Flat Top Serated 40lpi STI Edge done by "Daves Metal Works" in Covina by rippspeed1, on Flickr Side Profile: Hard Chromed and Lightened STI Edge by "Daves Metal Works" in Covina by rippspeed1, on Flickr Only thing missing is the SV Infinity flat trigger, waiting for Jimmy to install it... Jimmy Vidanes does some great lightening work, trigger jobs and fitment.. While Dave fast turn around( I drop it off on saturday 19th and it was ready for pick up on the 23rd) and work is quality is second to none... These are the guys that I'll be using to modify my STI Perfect 10 to a custom 6" Limited gun... And make me an open top end for my Edge...
  14. I love using WST in 40sw and 45acp and got more than half a 8lb jug of it ... Was wondering if I could make major in 9mm with WST ??? Whats your recipe if you dont mind sharing ... Thanx
  15. it can be competitive but needs alot of work to get it there... trigger job and recoil spring modification to make it less flippy and of course if you do your own reloads the better...
  16. I'm converting the STI Escort to a 1 piece guide rod and plug from SVI ... The only missing part is ordering a 12 or 14lbs spring... Where/Who makes these ??? Anyone know ??? If I cant find one I was just going to get a recoil spring from wolff springs and cut it to lenght... Anyone know the lenght of a recoil spring for an officer slide ???
  17. I actually didnt like the STI with the relief cuts because it actually beat up the base of my thumb... Actual bruise the crap out of it... I swapped out the Ed Brown grip safety with it and it helped me have a higher grip on the pistol. And it felt more comfortable... As for the thumb safety I wont use anything else but the SVI Extra Wide unit... I'm ordering them for my Perfect 10 and my wifeys STI Escort...
  18. I'm running an Ed Brown and an SVI Infinity Extra Wide thumb safety... So your saying the Wilson Hi Ride is better ???
  19. First of I've only have experience with Ed Brown and STI... The Ed Brown definitely beats out the STI grip safety when it comes to hi grips.. Is the Ed Brown grip safety the best for bringing you grip high up on the pistol ??? How is it compared to the SVI grip Safety??? Who makes a grip safety make you ride high on the pistol ???
  20. Eric its for a bull barrel ... Have a Perfect 10 on order which I'm going to swap in a 40sw bull barrel.
  21. ooohhh dang would never mess with the frame just because I know I'm going to have a hard time getting another one... Look where I'm located and you'll understand...LOL
  22. its says its only 3 ounces heavier than my Edge The Edge is @ 38.1oz The Perfect 10 @ 41.5oz
  23. What do you guys think ??? I'm stuck in a cross roads... I got a deal with a buddy of mine, we're getting a discounted price because we're purchasing 2 pistols ( actually 3 ) at once... Perfect 10 chambered in 40sw for limited ... Too heavy or should work if I lighten the slide ...
  24. sweet ... I guess I came to the right place for my answers... One last question... hows hard is it to take down with the 5"rod and the long bushing on a Bull barrel???
