  1. Must have been the heat & humidity. Otherwise, a great match!
  2. What totally confused me was that I believed there was a mag length limit for Limited, but not for Limited 10 Division - This is from the rulebook: US APPENDIX D8 Limited 10 Division Special conditions: 16. Any complete handgun or components produced by a factory and available to the general public for one year and 500 produced. Prototypes specifically not allowed. 17. Only porting of barrels is prohibited. Slides may be ported. 18. External modifications such as weights, or devices to control or reduce recoil are specifically not allowed, such as but not limited to, thumb rest, extended slide stops, etc. 19. Internal modifications to improve accuracy, reliability and function are allowed. E.g. spherical bushings, Acc-U-Rails, replacement barrels provided the barrel length is the same as original factory standard. 1 Minimum power factor for Major 165 2 Minimum power factor for Minor 125 3 Minimum bullet weight No 4 Minimum bullet caliber / cartridge case length 9mm (0.354”) / 19mm (0.748”) 5 Minimum bullet caliber for Major 10mm (0.40”) 6 Minimum trigger pull (see Appendix F2) No 7 Maximum handgun size No 8 Maximum magazine length No
  3. At the chrono stage, they asked me to produce a magazine that they tried fitting into a metal gauge (template). Because of the rubber on the bottom, with a bullet loaded in the mag, it did not fit within the angles of the template. I was allowed to complete the match with the POWER 10's, but was warned that they were not up to spec. Still not sure exactly what was wrong.
  4. Had the unpleasant news given after a template was applied to my Chip McCormick POWER 10 mags at the Area 7 Championship that they were not in compliance with USPSA size measurement rules. These are what have been recommended by many other more experienced IPSC shooters. Is Wilson the only other way to go that is rule compliant?
  5. Not absolutely certain, but pretty sure our MGM plate rack has 8" round plates spaced 18" apart, center to center.
  6. Have been thinking of introducing bowling pin shooting to my local club. Where do you get the bowling pins, any particular standard, and how much are they if gotten from bowling alley? Also, any issues with disposal of shot up pins? Thanks!
  7. RATIO 10 : 1 all men really need is: SEX FOOD QUIET
  8. John Amidon in FRONT SIGHT magazine addressed this issue. As long as the thumb safety is operational, it is O.K. to disable or pin the grip safety.
  9. I believe the responsibility stays with the shooter, as the phrase is "IF CLEAR, hammer down, holster."
  10. Catfish, try CATCRAP, an anti fog goop that works fairly well.
  11. Any potshot at Rosie is O.K. in my book. She is notoriously anti-gun, yet had her body guards get their carry permit here in Stamford, CT so her kids could be protected, and don't forget how she blindsided Tom Selleck about his NRA support on her show. She has also gone after Kristie Alley saying she lied about her starting weight on the present TV promotion. Slam Rosie . . . NO PROBLEMO!
  12. My brother in law asked if you had to wear bullet proof vests to partcipate. Make sure you tell them no one is shooting back!

    This cracks me up

Reported in New York Times today: Gary Brolsma, Saddle Brook, NJ. Evidently, he does not appreciate the notoriety of his action.
  14. Warm Months - Very cold, extremely dry Bombay Sapphire Martini Cold Months - Dewars and soda Always tasty - a frosty chilly cold one - BEER, whatever is local and good.
  15. In stage one, string one, is it required to engage T1, then T2, then T3, instead of right to left?
  16. Don't know if this is right, but someone familiar with previous work done by this gunsmith has suggested that something was removed from the grip safety itself, not the sear spring. Is anyone else familiar with this?
  17. Yes, a Kimber Compact Custom. I assume peening means pounding with a hammer to flatten additionally?
  18. With the new emphasis in IDPA on having all safety features function, I ordered, received, and installed a replacement sear spring so my grip safety will work. WELL - the Kimber seems to function alright, HOWEVER, the trigger pull weight has now doubled (can fix that with minor bending of tines, lower the better), grip feels active, but does not work. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
  19. Correcting - when I refer to a "call", I mean a finger in the air signaling a procedural error, not a verbal correction or shout. But, it does seem from the responses that it could be somewhat of a gray area if the error is quickly corrected.
  20. After a Safety Officer calls a procedural error, the shooter corrects it (i.e. goes back and picks up mags or goes back and shoots correctly the specified COF), is the shooter still charged the procedural error?
  21. I emailed the company and got a fairly quick response. It turns out that the model suggested in the new IDPA rules in no longer manufactured. They suggested a 5186 (about $60) for a Glock 34. I happen to have Mepro night sights that add a little height and were accomodated by my Sooper Hooper, but still might fit. Frankly, was surprised the new rules would reference a holster no longer available. Oh-well!
  22. Sorry, I shoot USPSA also. In IDPA, I know it's really SSP.
  23. I have been shooting for just over a year as a Production Sharpshooter, coming in at state matches at third place. Because of the equipment rule changes I would like to start shooting matches in CDP with my Kimber. At my first local match, at what classification level do I register?
  24. I know this sounds weird, but I got myself a tube of Flitz polish from the hardware store and a Crest spinning toothbrush ($6) from the drugstore and went to work and gave my G34 a $0.25 trigger job per the instructions in "The Complete Glock Reference Guide". At some point I will install a Vanek or Rhea, but for the time being, it works GREAT! Give it a try.
  25. The rulebook specifies the Safariland 5183 Model, however, this model is now obsolete and does not offer a Glock 34 or 35 fit. However, it has been replaced by the Safariland 5186 and sells for just under $60, and is available for the Glock 34 or 35. Still not too happy about not being able to use my Sooper Hooper, really, no competative advantage is created by straping one of these onto my body.
