  1. Match required unloaded gun in closed draw, loaded mags in draw, slide down. Even if it did not make a difference on this particular stage with mandatory reload, should those with high cap mags have loaded 11 or just 10 to equal playing field? RULE: Be loaded to the division capacity of ten (10) rounds in the magazine plus one (1) round in the chamber. Should division capacity not be achievable because of lower magazine capacity, load to maximum mechanical capacity of magazine plus one (1) round in the chamber. Competitors must use the same capacity magazines through out the competition
  2. KyTac works fine. Also, Safariland 5186 fits for IDPA.
  3. If it's given in a loving manner, it will be received in a loving way. Nothing inappropriate about your doing so that I can think of! Just my opinion from a nice Jewish boy from the Bronx.
  4. Same exact part number #357. Glocks, gotta love them, interchangable parts and you can put them in the dishwasher to clean them (kidding).

    Life Imitates Art

Get that finger out of the triggerguard or you'll be DQ'd as a looter!
  6. Had same issue on G34. Could use a couple more clicks for perfect alignment. I make do as is and appreciate the improvement over Mepros and stock.
  7. Instructions with my clearly said RED. Interestingly enough, it comes in a blue container.
  8. TO MY BEST RECOLLECTION: Scenario was to get out of truck, close door, grab gun on top of drag dummy, load, fire six while dragging and retreating, dump dummy behind truck. With adrenalin rush (why we shoot this sport), got off six good shots, realized volume and ring in ears, stopped mid-way around truck, turned to SO with statement, "I have no ears", was told to, "keep going", and I did. THAT SIMPLE! Afterwards, in very short discussion with SO and Scorekeeper, was told "I could have pulled ears down at any time", I responded that "I did not think that was safe with gun in hand", was told "I still had a free hand", and that was that. COF was scored, I thanked the SO and match went on. My hearing was not damaged and it seemed like a minor inconvenience with a couple of extra seconds added onto my score. Did not anticipate a DQ at that time. This entire thread came about after coming home, sharing with my wife what had happened, and her saying there had to be something in the rules to address this issue. Other than finding that specifically a re-shoot would not be allowed, still not sure what should have happened based on how the rules are written and order of events. Hey FLEX, what would you have done?
  9. I have really come to accept from all the pros and cons presented here, that the S.O. really made the right call based on the IDPA Rulebook, and that a re-shoot should not have been allowed. As pointed out by Round Gun Shooter, the Rulebook reads as follows: C 11. No shooter can re-shoot a stage or string for gun or “mental” malfunctions except when shooting the “Classifier” match for classification purposes. If the classifier is part of a scored match, no re-shoots are permitted. Re-shoots are allowed for stage equipment malfunctions or SO interference with the shooter. Although the word "only" is not part of the rule, It seems clear that no re-shoot should have been permitted, but I don't think a DQ was appropriate either as it is not specified either. Had I stopped shooting, the stage would have been scored as shot and that would have been the end to it. Also, I do not believe the S.O. telling me to proceed contitutes "SO interference". Perhaps the real issue is that I was allowed to continue without ear protection, rather than stopped and now we are doing a post mortem on that issue?
  10. Might as well add: The entire outcome of this incident was that I had a couple of extra seconds added to my time because I did complete the COF after motioning to my left ear, being told by the SO to continue, without my ears on. Further was told by the SO that I could have adjusted my ears during the COF. I have enormous respect for the SO who made the call, did not argue with it, accepted it and went on to shoot the rest of the match. Had a great day! Having attended many matches, I know that if a DQ was given to everyone who removed their ears during a match (to refresh ones ears & hear time and scoring called), no one would be left to shoot the match. Do not feel this rises to the level of a DQ'able event. Not sure failure to drop ears = "mental malfunction". I am an IDPA SO (also USPSA SO and NRA SO) and still am unsure if I should have been stopped and given a reshoot. However, certain that if I was running a shooter, I would have stopped that person and offered a reshoot. I accept this as somewhat vague in the IDPA Rulebook, and until it was addressed in specific verbiage (as in the USPSA Rules) would yield to whatever the local climate was on how the rulebook is applied. If it were a major - state, regional, or National Match, I am sure the MD could have to address it and if it were a "gamer" tactic, a FTDR would be given. This was a simple oversight that was compounded by the fact that the SO didn't catch it also, but clearly the shooter's (MY) responsibility. Still had a great match!
  11. Thought you were there, as it was a get out of the truck, grab and drag stage. Local match, no biggie. Was shooting it fine, but without ear protection, and surprised no reshoot allowed.
  12. I fully know this is IDPA and NOT IPSC, however the IPSC Rulebook specifies: If a Range Official notices that a competitor has lost or displaced their eye or ear protection during a course of fire, or has commenced a course of fire without them, the Range Official must immediately stop the competitor who will be required to reshoot the course of fire after the protective devices have been restored. Exactly what happened in this instance. My belief has always been IDPA takes a "kindler, gentler" {as in the benefit of the doubt goes to the shooter} approach, and would have assumed a STOP and Reshoot would have been in order, especially since I cannot find a specific item in the IDPA Rulebook to deal with this particular issue.
  13. In a recent local IDPA Match, S.O. starts timer, I get six shots off and realize I did not move ear protection down from cap to cover ears. I stop, thinking it is a safety issue, S.O. says to keep going and finish, which I did. Was told I had the ability with one hand to bring down ear protection. Confusion cost me a couple of seconds. Really don't see this issue addressed in IDPA rules. Should I have been stopped followed by a reshoot, or was I just out of luck and learned something?
  14. Many thanks! Any idea why that link is not on Club website or on IDPA Major Match Results? Maybe I just missed it, but I'm sure inquiring minds would love to know their results.
  15. Shot last weekend, great match! Anybody have a clue when the results might be posted?
  16. Thanks, exactly the answer I was looking for!
  17. More specifically, in the July/August 2005 Front Sight on page 41, there is a box with Area 6 Sponsors: Match Sponsor Stage Sponsors Banner Sponsors - ???????????????
  18. I know I'm asking for a peek at the dark underbelly of the business of running a match, but in this month's Front Sight Magazine, I saw a match that differentiated between STAGE SPONSORS and BANNER SPONSORS. Could someone who sets these things up explain the exact difference. Also, I was curious of the expense and benefits of either or both. Is it truly a good business decision, or just a way of supporting the club putting on the match? Thanks!
  19. Thank you all, exactly the answer I was looking for!
  20. ADDITIONAL NOTE: Also, since it is a GRIP and not a mag extension, still seems to fit with the intent of the rule.
  21. Mark, That's exactly what I'm talking about. Considering the very small size of the baby Glock, don't feel that it offers significant or any type of advantage, in fact, for IDPA, in the real world, the only way that I carry. But believe I would have to remove them for IDPA competition. (Not even sure if O.K. to use in un-official BUG Match). Thanks!
  22. EXCLUDED Modifications (NON-Inclusive list): 1. Externally visible modifications other than grips or sights. Have often thought of bringing my Baby Glock G26 along with my G34, just in case the G34 does not make it through the match, as a back-up gun. All of my mags however, have Pearce Grip attachments. As I read the rules, "other than grips" (see above), it almost looks like they would be O.K. Are they?
  23. Just about ready to put this whole thing behind me. I think it was a total mistake as they showed me the fit with a round in the mag, pretty strange. The whole match was a terrific learning experience, and and amazing experience also. What I learned . . . make sure to chrono my ammo in the gun I'm actually going to shoot in the match, and have a rule book handy to demonstrate that mag length doesn't matter in Limited 10. GOT IT! Thanks!
  24. Forgot one little thing, they seemed nice enough after they chronoed my Winchester White Box 185 .45 at minor out of my Kimber Compact . . . that was my fault.
