  1. I was also concerned and had checked at annual physical a couple of weeks ago. I shoot 2 - 3 three times a week at a fairly well ventilated indoor club and twice a month at outdoor matches. Between work and home, really no other place for lead contamination, and I don't reload. My blood level was 9. Was also told that above 10 was the first sign of problems and over 40 was OSHA notification time. Another shooter who reloads bigtime was at 24. My wife is pregnant, so I was particularly curious and am taking greater preventative measures.
  2. Thank you all for your extraordinary and timely responses. I will get her the info and pray she never needs to use the equipment. VOTE - and support those who protect us with their lives!
  3. My assistant, whose daughter is about to ship out to Iraq to fly helicopters, came to me and said that the Army has issued her an M-4, but she has to purchase her own scope for the rifle. I find this unbelievable! It has been suggested that she purchase almost any Trijicon handle mounted scope. Does anyone have a more specific or better recommendation? Money is somewhat of an issue, so nothing too exotic, please.

    2nd place

If second place is first lose, what is third place, total loser?

    Perfume

Yea, but what about those extraordinary women who wear just the right amount and it completes the gap in those brain synapses that sends you right over the edge. Would hate to lose that! My wife uses Victoria Secret vanilla lotion and just a touch of perfume, a perfect combination.
  8. My primary concern was not a pattern of DQ's or poor judgement on the part of the RO, but rather, an accidental or negligent discharge resulting in the bodily injury or death of a participating shooter or bystander. I don't even know if this has ever happened in a sanctioned match or simply a local range event. I have personally seen people wheel around with a loaded gun, get disqualified and go home, but it only takes a little imagination to think that the outcome could have been more lethal. Questions remains - would the person acting as RO for that particular event have personal liability? Is it likely to cost that person significant legal fees, personally, if action was persued?
  9. What is your personal legal liability if there is an "accident" while you are running someone during a match? And, is the risk mitigated if you have formal IPSC RO training ? Does anyone have any idea if officers of a range or club have any protection from litigation? Clearly, I am not so much concerned about the people I know, but rather very concerned about their families going after what they might think is an easy mark.
  10. Had a fantastic vacation and trip. Yes the weather was not cooperating with a tropical storm drenching us most of the time, but it did not stop my 5 month pregnant wife and I from eating our way across the area. Ate at Zydeque, The Pearl, Acme Oyster, Deanie's, VooDoo BBQ, Cafe du Monde, Central Grocery, and Mulates. Spent much time at the clubs on Bourbon Street, House of Blues, visited Jackson Square, the Garden District, took streetcars everywhere, and of course the cemetary and voodoo tour. My personal favorite was Deanie's, amazing oysters, huge portions, great service. Every meal out was amazing! The weather prevented the swamp tour (wife said no-way), but would do it first next time back in the Bayou. Only negative was the large number of homeless, crazies, and pan-handlers, which made me feel right at home, just like NYC. Also some of the street performers had a "get-in-your-face" attitude, which seemed a little out of character for clowns. Thanks again for all the recommendations, the trip was a winner!
  11. I do lube the cam on the underside of the barrel, perhaps more than I should, will try reducing that. Thanks!
  12. My slide stop is totally stock and un-modified and does not show any signs of excessive wear. Hole on SS looks normal. Pretty certain the slide stop is locked in by the trigger pin, not the locking block pin. Locking block looks O.K. but will examine with more scrutiny to make sure.
  13. Have had my G34 for about a year and have over 20,000 rounds through it without a problem, flawless. In the last couple of weeks, have had to replace the locking block pin three times after noticing it was creeping out the right sight and was broken in half. Never happens during or after a match, but only after doing several bill drills back-to-back and one night after a stake shoot (i.e. rapid shooting with much heat generated.) Gun has never stopped working, but for the fact that half the pin was sticking out. Anybody else have this problem and have any idea what to do. Luckily the pins are about $2.95 each and are easily replaced. But WHY?
  14. Will try to do it all, weather report says thundershowers from Thursday through Sunday, don't care! Staying at the Baronne Plaza, just off the French Quarter.
  15. Thought I'd check with my shooting buddies here, going to visit the Big Easy for the first time this Thursday to Sunday (gotta use those fequent flyer miles). What food and sights shouldn't this former New Yorker miss?
  16. I see that TopGlock and others are selling high capacity magazines (17 round) for both the G17, G34 and other models. Have also read that the next big batch are due to arrive in the US shortly in a shipping container. Does anyone know whether the previous batch that have been distributed are left-over LEO only mags and the new ones are "freshly" made for US sales, and whether all, or only the new ones are DROP-FREE and FULLY METAL LINED? Also, pardon my ignorance, but why would anyone use anything else, and for what purpose?
  17. So very glad these were posted by a woman . . . extremely accurate and funny!

  19. Needs to be said: could be a mild case of burnout, but if the "symptoms" continue and carry over to other aspects of your life that have given you pleasure in the past, please explore the possibility that you might be experiencing a mild bout of depression. Not at all uncommon for those of us that are generally in great spirits the rest of the time.

  21. Thanks, now I understand why I couldn't figure it out with my numbers alone!
  22. I read all of the above and still am confused. Here goes from match shot Sunday: Total Points (222 hits x 5) - 1110 Points Down - 60 Penalties - 30 Time - 298.62 HF -3.42 How did I get a MATCH PTS = 795.2949 ????? I'm sure it is simple, but it ain't easy . . . still elludes me!
  23. EXACTLY what is the formula to get from time, scored hits, misses, procedurals, no-shoot hits, and misses to MATCH POINTS?
