Oh but I blame you... I was just looking at it before you provoked me!
-
Just to keep this all in one thread for the Shadow CTS LS-P I picked this up this past week: Picked this up from Oak Hills after Quack kept pushing! Unlike other basic ones it has the Fiber Front, Steal Guide Rod, Aluminum Grips, trigger listed as 3 Lb SA 7 3/4Lbs DA. It was not listed as a the SRT but it has no pre-travel after reset, and a very short reset.. so I have no idea if it doesn't have it how it could be better with it. I picked up the holster from Kingman/Red Hill Tactical and so far I really like it. I did not get a hanger yet.. not sure about that yet so sticking with the tek-lok for now. Oh and here is the test target:

The Red Hill Tactical mentioned in that thread is what I am thinking at this point. If it is secure in the comp-tac option it looks good as well.

I have one coming to the FFL on Monday. Need to get some mags and find a holster. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

I have wanted one of these for a long time, and a random visit to Oak Hill Guns website... cost me some money. So the Shadow is on the way so I guess I answered which division I am shooting next year. I almost picked up a "Shadow Line" awhile back but it was not 100% what I wanted so I have been waiting for the SP01 Shadows to pop back up. I need a bit more gear that I may have to delay getting a bit but I have time before next year. Anything I should make priority? Other than learning to drop the hammer....

Thinking about going Revolver.... thoughts?
skdmrklcy replied to skdmrklcy's topic in Revolver Forum
I did't know if the V-Comp with the cap not the comp would still be allowed. Looking at the 627 V-Comp not the 625. I have missed just about every 627 5" gun by a few mins it seems. -

Can a V-Comp be used minus the Comp? Just curious mostly looking at a Pro 4" for cost. What about a 9mm Conversion? Or is that just a bad idea? I have seen them and people claim they work... but since I see it hardly at all here on searches. -

So is a 627 or a 625 going to be the way to go? -

I have enough Cash to pick up either a basic 1911 or a Revolver.. assuming I need no custom work to start... and the required gear that is needed. The 1911 I have is a Full Rail Dust Cover so it is out, I also would not want to sell the other two, as I am attached. I am leaning that way just not sure how smart it is going to be just getting started. -
Short Version: So if you were advising someone getting started in USPSA would you dissuade them from going Revolver? Assuming no matter which way they go they have to buy a new Gun. Long Version: I have shot one actual match and a few "outlaw" IDPA/USPSA style things, and I am planning to get a lot more involved next season since no one really shoots around here in the Winter. I have ended up in a situation in that I have no guns that are really ideal for any division. (A 1911 not SS Legal, a M&P not Production Legal, and a Smith 681... I just can't see the sights...) So I have been going back and forth for awhile on what I really want to shoot. So far I keep getting drawn to revolver just because I enjoy shooting them, but it seems their is almost no revolver participation at the local matches... not sure I want to be the new guy... and the revolver guy. Also with the rule change now I am not even sure what I should be looking at equipment wise. Production holds almost no interest for me, so pretty much looking at a .45 1911 for single stack or a revolver.. I could brake down and sell my new custom 1911 that is not legal... but trying to avoid that.

So would a czechmate be a good or bad idea for a beginner in open?
-
That would be exciting.
-
What is your goal, and what are you wanting to have done?
-
Long gone but it had no issues. I need to get another setup finished I have parts of a bunch of different options but nothing complete. I just learned about Oxford, I am going to have to check it out in the future very close.

If the ejector is not right to begin with you can slam a mag up into on a 9mm if you really try... or the ejector is not fit right to begin with. I have had one in the past where you could see the mags hit it if you pushed up. This is out of maybe 5 9mm 1911s only one you had to watch. So can it be a issue, Yes. Is it common to see this issue.. I doubt it. Is it common for this company you are talking about to have poor CS.. no idea.. you don't tell us who it was.

Need hep picking a Birthday Les Baer!
skdmrklcy replied to steviesterno's topic in 1911-style Pistols
My 30th Birthday Baer was a Custom Carry with no FCS or Ambi. I went though Crazy John at cj1911heaven.com price was better than anyone else I have seen. Just give him a call he usually has a ton of things in stock with different options. -
I have a Dawson CRP Glock 35 coming in on Friday. I keep wanting to order some other stuff for but I am trying to wait till I have it in hand. I really want a Fulcrum Trigger but have yet to talk myself into it. This is so I can try Limited next year without dealing with 2011 mags.

Trojan 9mm:
-
A friend of mine had been thinking of selling their 625 for awhile but I never really had the extra cash to pick it up. It was always just something I wanted to play with and didn't think I would really use it much. He had mentioned he was maybe thinking about getting a 5" M&P Pro so I tossed out a trade offer. SO I am trading a 5" M&P Pro and a little cash for an almost unused 625JM. I am going to be finally be getting involved more with shooting more USPSA matches next year. So what should I start trying to build up to try this wheel gun out at some point? Revolvers are one of my favorite things to shoot but I will have to do a lot of practice on reloads and really mastering the double action trigger pull. I plan to mostly shoot Single Stack with a new STI Trojan 9mm that should be here soon as well with all the trimmings. (Actually may get it tomorrow if my FFL comes out to help at a NRA Class I am taking.)

I am having a lot of trouble with using a red dot gun... now both that I have tried are not conventional open guns so I am not sure if that is the issue or not. I have a heck of a time trying to focus on the target and be aware of the dot. I can do it if I get a hard focus on the target but as soon as I track at all to anything else my eye gets stuck on the dot.. like it goes back and forth. I do have to wear glasses for distance if that matters. This last one was not really my idea (was a gift) but it worries me. I one day would like to shoot open but if I have this trouble now it does not look good. I would think I just need more time but the fact I have focus issues seems it may be more of an eye issue. Maybe a traditional frame mounted optic would be better? I did try to search but I must be using the wrong terms... I know I am not the first with dot issues.
-
What little I have held a "real" open gun vs my versions.. the dot looks about the same. My first RMR model did have the smaller dot, and that you could tell was a lot smaller.
-
Can I play?
-
Both of mine were not really setup as a "game" gun. SO in that regard you kind of have to go with the Melt job in other to have the backup sights and no bulk from a mount. Now for a game gun... like say I fall in love with open. I would go for a "normal" frame mounted kit.

I just picked up this one I may try in Open for fun: This is one I had in the past: I already like the new one a bit better, but will be testing it quite a bit over the next few weeks. It is really more for fun/self defense than USPSA but I figure it would be fun to give it a shot.
