  1. I just got one as well thanks for the link. For 15 it is worth a shot.
  2. Hmm, I wonder if you can go to SAO, I would be interested in that myself. I hope someone else comes along with some better info.
  3. I am no expert but I found that one could only do DA/SA to DAK or DAK to DA/SA. No way to go from SAO to anything else or the other way. Something about holes etc being different in the frame. Sig does the other conversions for like 200, so you could always call and ask, hopefully I am wrong.
  4. I will see about changing the trigger once I get the other grips on. I had a little bit of issue with too much trigger finger but my main issue is actually in the grip itself. When I get a chance to go back out I will have to try it all out and test all the mags, and go from there. I think at this point I just need a holster.
  5. Took it out for a few hundred rounds and it performed great. I am going to have to switch the grips up, these E2 are just a little small for me. I ordered a set of stock grips and screws, as well as 5 of the mec-gars for it as well. I have some mag holders that work great, they were for a Glock but never seemed right for it. They fit the Sig mags like a glove and work great. They are comp-tacs with locking clip.
  6. It does help a lot, I found out they fit in the box so they are good. I am trying to decide if I should just order 5 or 6 of them and be done with it. I don't care for the factory park finish on the ones they came with at all. I was going to be cheap on the holster for now, but I am sure I will talk myself into a Blade-Tech though I know I can not use the DOH for IDPA. Thanks for the help!
  7. I just traded away some stuff and ended up with a new Sig P226 Elite that I want to use in IDPA and USPSA. I was going to order some more mags for it but then I see the Mec-Gar stuff is well received as well. Should I just stick with factory 15s or Mec-Gar 18s? are only the 15s legal as they are made by Sig. I know it is only 10 limit but if I am going to buy them, I see no reason to get 10s. If I change grips to a different set as long as they do not create a mag well and do not change the grip profile.. they are ok correct? Reading the rule book it seems to be the case but I want to make sure I am not misreading. I also need to order a holster but I think I am going to try a black-hawk, I tried my ccw instructors out and I really liked it. I may see what other paddle holster are out as well. This was a total impulse buy but I bought my wife a Mosquito and have been thinking of picking of a 226 for awhile.
  8. The lock does not really bother me at all, I don't like the look but what are you gonna do. I used to have a 520 or something like that which was a new revolver with all the fancy hated features but it shot well and I liked it, sold it on a whim and wish I had it back.
  9. I had not really factored the weight of the revolver. I generally prefer the lighter barrel 14, but I see how that is less desirable when making fast shots. Model 15 was just what came to mind as I always wanted one but have never found a decent one in person. I think for a competition use I would have to go with something stainless, just for cleaning.
  10. Would a 66/19 or something like a 15 be a better choice? I will have to see what I can find I suppose. I am in no real hurry. At least now I know what I should be looking for and what each will get me as far as what I can use and when. I always try to move away from wheel guns but I just plain enjoy them more.
  11. My main reason to not use the 14 or 19 for anything is that they are kind of family guns, and I would not want anything to happen to them. I guess that is not completly rational but it is my fear. I am thinking IDPA more than anything just as I know a few more people that go to the match already plus never having owned one in the past I am not real big on a moon clip gun. I will keep an eye for a old 4" k-frame but I always seem to find long barrels. A lot of good information though, thank you very much.
  12. I have just geared up for getting into IDPA (SSP) and USPSA (Production) with some Glock kit. I landed into some extra money though and would like to add a Revolver to build a setup around at some point. I have a Model 14-1 with 6" Barrel and a Model 19-5 with 2.5" barrel, I enjoy shooting these more than any other semi auto I have ever owned. I have never owned anything as accurate as the 14 before, I can put all 6 into one hole if I do my part. This all brings me to my question, I am thinking about picking up a new revolver to add to the collection to at some point shoot at competition for fun. The big question is which one is the best option. I think I am confusing my self on rules and power factor... and my head hurts. I am looking at either a 625 or a 686 SSR, the issue I can't figure out is the Power factor on the 686 seems that you have to reload to really hit, and cheap factory ammo will not cut it. I am wrong about that? Is there another I should be looking at?
  13. I had an early one a few years back. It ran fine never had a problem but the frame just wasn't cut right or something it felt like a brick. The internals on mine were clean, but the entire thing was not done well as far as machining goes. I think for the money they have much better options available. They may not have all the gadgets Taurus advertises but it is all stuff you are better off adding if you want it later. I got mine on a whim and it ran great, I sold it to fund who knows what.
  14. I have a Crossbreed SnapSlide for my 17/19 will this work for USPSA(Production) or IDPA(SSP) until I get one better suited? I also have a Kydex IWB/OWB custom that is for the 19 with a straight drop, but I would have to cut the end open to fit the 17. I am mostly worried that the SnapSlide is too wide on the belt, and if the entire thing has to go behind the hip bone it is a bit far back. If just the gun portion/kydex is at that point it is fine.
  15. So Far it feels better to me in hand than my 19 without the RTF2. I really like the Gills just because it is different. I just need to get some better sites on it, and get them installed. I am thinking just black on black charger sites from Dawson, or the Warren set.
  16. I had looked but the RTF2 Confused me, I had it in my head that there was a RTF 1. I figured it out though, thanks for the help all! I have not shot it, I have handled it and liked it. I am not sure I would like it rubbing skin in a IWB setup but other than that I have no issue with it.

    Dumb Question

I may pickup a Glock 17 with the RTF and Fish Gills, is this the Glock 17 RTF2 that is production Legal in USPSA? Or is this one not? I tried to search but came up empty so I am sure I was looking up the wrong stuff. Thanks!
  18. I have been looking for any of the Conversion Kits and nobody seems to have them in stock. I will just have to shoot it with 9 for now!
  19. I have yet to shoot a match but I picked up a Glock 19 for a Carry gun, and a M&P Pro 9 to shoot in matches. Now I am thinking about using the 19 some, or maybe switching the Pro for a Glock 17/34. I really like the Pro, but it is not the same as my Carry choice, and none of the M&Ps really match the 19 in size. The Compact I didn't like the feel of and the rest are all the size of the Pro which has a grip which I have a hard time hiding. I think using you carry gun in a match would be great training which is why I wanted to get into this anyway. I think I am over thinking it all, but I did order quite a few extra mags, if I decide to go that path.
  20. I have a fat man that needs a belt question... Does one have to wear there belt/holster around the stomach or if so blessed is under the gut ok? If this is a dumb question please forgive. I needed a new one for carry anyway. I will also ask here as there appear to be a lot of locals.. I am looking for a ccw class with an instructor with a private range or at least one that isn't targetworld that would be good for my wife and I. I have had my CCW in the past and let it lapse as I was planning to retake the course with my wife and it just has never happened.
  21. I figured the 1911 was not the best idea, today I was able to get a M&P Pro 9 to get started. Ordered a Holster and some Mag Carriers, as well as 3 More Mags. I am going to miss the match this weekend but will be ready to go next time!
  22. See! That is what I think of when I read Rail Gun... not just Gun with Rail.
  23. Wow, I didn't think this area would be all that great...looks like I was more than wrong. Thanks for all the info and invites guys! I can't wait to get out and get started. I need to order a few more things (Holster and Mags) then I will at least have the basics.
  24. I only knew about one of those places... Thanks a lot! I am hoping they are slow people friendly, as I have never shot for speed or on the move before, everyone has to start some time I suppose.
  25. I am worried about weight but I need scale to check, all I can find online is 38oz which 41 seems more likely. If I am over weight could I just shoot in limited 10? I am not going to score well anyway so at this point as long as I can shoot I am happy. I am working on a production gun as well but I have to wait for my M&P to come back from smith, when it does I am going to see if I can sell or trade it for a 9mm. This is my backup plan if all else fails.
