  1. Good call Flex. At these pressures free bore is your friend
  2. Great point on the bigger bullet. It seems that most 9 major is a compressed load but the 147 would make that much more drastic. I'm glad to see you weren't seriously hurt and sorry your gun went boom. I've thought a lot about using 357 Sig if I ever build a Glock for major. Much more case volume but still very high pressures. Does anyone else anneal the cases before they load major? I'm always nervous that I'll hit a piece of brittle brass.
  3. Any thoughts on a tag switch on the powder bar to sense an incomplete charge bar closure? I've thought a lot about a higher torque motor for the casefeeder so it could handle more brass but I keep thinking a jam would blow the clutch or fold up brass. Did you notice a better brass flow with the much taller case tube of the GSI system? What are the percentages out of 100 on inverted bullets, inverted primers or peeled back casings? I'm getting around .5% failure on 100's and about 1.5% loss on the thousand. How many rounds per hour? Are you willing to share your data? I'd love to see how this holds up on a long term count of ammo made over ammo lost If I ever get mine up I was thinking I would add Ansul to the enclosure just in case of a fire. Though I'm not too scared of that happening. Thanks so much for being an outside the box thinker!!!
  4. My wife Niccole favors the Walther PPQ. I've learned in the relatively short time we've been married that her gun interests follow some fairly even trends. Experimenting with offering similar guns to my other female friends and family showed me the following trends... - 9mm and 45 were the most liked calibers even in very similar pistols. 40SW was strongly disliked by 13 out of the 15 women that took part in this. - Striker type firing mechanisms were strongly favored with only two women choosing a single action 1911 and 1 selecting a DA/SA HK USP - Non traditional sights were not well liked. Three white dot was slightly favored over fiber optics even on identical guns - Women in general are more concerned with taking care of their skin than men tend to do. This was their reasoning for disliking guns with rough textured grips are aggressive checkering. Furthermore 25 lpi checkering was strongly disliked while 30 to 40 lpi checkering was well liked. Stipple was not preferred but moderate grip tape was well liked. - On a timer the best groups at 7 yards under 5 seconds were from a 9mm. On a non pistol side note my wife astounds me with her rifle shooting! I have never seen someone so naturally talented with a long gun. If you like Jensey my wife says she is happy to talk to you if you want to email her. All information aside you will probably get the most value out of speaking to other women who shoot. I'll PM you her email feel free to use it.
  5. I'm not concerned with the autodrive as my original post says. Like any other machine they just need to be properly tuned. Also the factory parts are made cheap. Replacing certain ones with high quality machined parts solves most problems.
  6. Yes but never even got close to Twinkies. Those stand alone
  7. Then you got lucky. Primer anvils don't know whether they are being hit backwards or not. Kill the primers first with WD40 and make sure you clean them before reloading them as the remaining WD40 residue can kill the new rounds too. Of course it is always unsafe to push out a live primer. That's why the manuals for Dillon and other say not to do it. That being said many do so and it can be done if your careful.
  8. M&P10 = .308AR Very happy with mine thus far. (Previous SWFA SS 1-4x and Meopta ZD 1-4x user here) Yeah, it is a .308 AR, sorry. http://www.gunsandam...p10-in-308-win/ http://www.m4carbine...ad.php?t=122601 http://www.thefirear...-308-ar-market/ BLAST!!!!!!!! I was soooo happy.
  9. Oh and as to the lead question I'm not sure. I've never fed my HK's lead but I will ask my fellow HK pals and post again. The 220 shouldn't care though again I have never fed mine any lead.
  10. HK's rip but you have to shoot one and it just has to "work". If they don't feel good to you they never will. The 220 is also awesome. I shot my first CDP match ever years ago with a borrowed one and took 1st. They're incredibly accurate and if you like 1911's you'll find a lot of similarity in the reloads especially. As far as the HK goes I carry mine almost daily. I prefer the USP Tactical 45 but the HK45 is an incredible gun. It's very comfortable and very accurate. Eat's any ammo without a hiccup. If you have deep pockets there is a 220 version of the X-5 that is absolutely ridiculous. I'm pretty sure it can smoke most high end 1911's but I have no idea what divisions it's legal for. My Sig nut pal brought one out to the range last summer and I almost cried handing it back after the mag was empty. Beyond trick. Whichever one you get if you decide to trick them out go straight to Bruce at Gray Guns. He is the man with the plan on both guns.
  11. My gun nutness is only outdone by my addiction to Muscle Cars. As such I've decided it's time I turn a 1050 into a hot rod. I'm planning to order a new one this summer as well as an autodrive and one of GSI's feed systems. I'll post pics and info as the project develops. May even let my car buddies give it a nice paint job and some racing stripes For now please give me any experience you have with the autodrives and feeders with a few exceptions... Please don't try and talk me out of autodrive. I've had one already and it works just fine for me. The bullet feed got me to give it up. I'm going with the GSI feed. Mr. Bulletfeeder has some flaws I've found don't make it a contender on this build. That being said I'd love to hear some input! I'm especially interested in gear ratios and speed settings. I'd also like to hear any ideas to increase the reliability and efficiency of the machine. I'd like to get it as close to 100% production with no failures as possible. I also don't mind taking a year or two to afford to go nuts on this one. Also paint ideas are very welcome. Right now I'm feeling matte blacks and grabber green. Kinda Mopar. Thanks let's have some fun! Jerry P.S. If anyone has a Hemi or an R/T badge laying around that would be hilarious!
  12. The burn rates are actually very similar to BLC-2. The stuff meters well on my Dillon and I'm nuts for how good it shoots. Noticable reductions in gun cleaning time. Works great in 308 too. Go for it. You may actually even find you prefer it to H355. I know I do.
  13. Captains Of Crush grip trainers from IronMind. Don't over do it these things are fierce! It's also a very very good idea to get the extend your hand bands too. For the record here's my training regimen... 0530 - Get up to work out 0531 - Decide to do it tomorrow, smash alarm clock, go back to sleep 0800 - Actually get up 0815 - Make health shake to drink for breakfast 0816 - spit out disgusting horrible health shake 0817 - Eggs 0818 - More eggs, some bacon... oh what the hell more bacon. 0830 - Realize I have a terrible lack of discipline. Resolve to take things more seriously tomorrow and get up at 0530 to work out! Tomorrow.... 0530.... Repeat sigh maybe I should just wait until I get bitten by a radioactive spider.
  14. This raises a point. Probably wouldn't be a horrible idea for those of us that have it to bring extra ammo in case somebody can't get any this year. If I can make it (looking like maybe not) I'll bring some just in case.
  15. If only you could get beyond the inherent 22 problem (steel knockdowns activating movers) you could do it no problem. We tried it once with an "optional" bowling pin with a string on it as a backup activator. The idea was if you weren't running a 22 you hit the steel activator. If you were running a 22 you had to knock the bowling pin off the post and when it fell it set off the same mover (swinger, clamshell etc). It actually went really well. The only other problem we had was some of us were going so fast with the 22 we got way ahead of the RO and the timer lost us. Leaving the timer in the last position on the CoF with a remote activator of some kind could solve that. The upshot was that it let a lot of us bring our kids, grandkids or nephews/nieces and let them shoot, try again if they goofed up and just plain go again if they wanted to without breaking the bank on ammo. For those of us adults that took it more seriously we scored it all minor and started from low ready since some 22's just don't have appropriate holster options. I did notice that 1911's and Glocks with 22 kits won far and away over Rugers, Buckmarks and such. This was a direct result of mag changes. The older Rugers and the Hi Standards with Euro mag releases on the butt of the pistol got hosed. It's doable and I agree that it's needed. Not to mention it's just really really reallllly fun!
  16. Looks hot. Thank god for this forum when the going gets tough. If it wasn't for these guys I wouldn't have mine running either!
  17. Nice. The question is where will he put his thumb? j/k glad to see you driving that fantastic plastic
  18. Unless your talking spread of group from hole to hole. Then wouldn't it be center of hole to farthest hole distant is the diameter of smallest circle?
  19. If the bullseye is the center then wouldn't the distance between 0,0 and center of the farthest hole from (0,0) be the radius of the smallest circle?
  20. I use dillons and I put about 500 in the 750 tumbler. About 800 to a thousand in the 1000 tumbler. You can use more if the media isn't too coarse and the cases have case lube on them. If they are dry or the media is coarse back off and tumble less to avoid scratching the cases. Most websites from the tumbler makers show a recomended ammount to tumble but it's often by volume not by round count. ie 2 quarts of brass vs 1000 pcs of brass.
  21. If you do ship I really like FedEx Next Day Air. You can track it almost blow by blow. Hell if it goes from the right airports you can even watch it fly with air track.
