  1. When I can afford it I practice with my Delta then shoot the match with my 9! Hehe I did take the Delta to a match once. Pepper Popper goes DOWN! I'm a horrible 10 geek though. I even got married on 10/25 (as in 10x25mm) My wife thought it was great though she also said I had absolutely no excuse to forget our anniversary. On a more practical note I have found that shoot my 10mm a little better than I shoot a 45. No idea why. +1 to bringing it back as a CDP cartridge
  2. I'm sorry that you had to suffer that. I used to unload and show clear very quickly until I saw someone else do what you describe. Now I take my time and I feel much safer for it. I wish more of the really good shooters would make it a point to slow down their unload to set that good example. Thank you for sharing this and reminding me again how important it is to practice safety as much as I practice shooting 8)
  3. Thank you very much. I'll take your good advice and keep the ramp. Might have to wait awhile before I continue the project but better quality will be well worth the wait.

    draw time

I agree with a few of the others that are suggesting that your draw is very good and shouldn't be as much of a concern to you. The difference for me between classing EX to classing MA was mostly found in less points down. I see a lot of EX shooters at matches with lightning fast draws and screaming mag changes but they average 6 or more downs per stage. About two years ago I got a chance to shoot on a squad with some really great guys including Vogel. The crazy thing was that even though he was faster than us his downs we're incredibly low at only 11 for the whole match! My times on most stages were within a second or two of his on the shorter stages and within 3 or 4 on the longer ones. At the end though I didn't have a single stage that I wasn't 5 seconds or more behind his scores because I just couldn't keep up with his pace and still get my hits. Check out some of the draw times of some really great shooters sometime. You may be surprised by how many of them have a draw the same as yours or slower. Follow up question for you... Do you spend a lot of time drawing from less common positions like sitting or kneeling. I suffered from a severe lack of attention to those odd start positions for a long time and once I began to practice them I gained a ton of ground at matches. Good luck with everything!
  5. I was in a shop about two weeks ago with my dad and noticed that a new TRP in the case had a clear miss in the checkering. I don't know how it could have been missed but it does worry me a little. I've always loved Springers and Have never shot one I didn't like (not counting any with improperly installed parts or modifications) Kinda makes you wonder though if an "N" prefix Imbel gun from the 90's isn't a better made pistol than a current "NM" prefix gun. I haven't bought a Springer in the past year or so (really tight finances) and haven't dropped the cash on a new one in the last 5 years. So I have to be fair in saying that my concerns are not founded in first hand experience shooting them but in recent observations.
  6. My wife and I are having a son!!! Finally someone to take to the match with me!!!! 8)
  7. here's mine. I hope others will jump in and post their own! All twelve days in a row to save a bit of typing. On the 12th day of Christmas my club match gave to me: 12 Standard Stages 11 Poppers Falling 10 Timers Timing 9 That's a Squad! 8 Double Alphas 7 Brilliant Draws 6 That really stunk ...5 BOTCHED RELOADS!!!! 4 Hit's on no shoots 3 Penalties 2 Missed Headshots AND A SHINY PLAQUE FOR TAKING LAST PLACE! Happy Holidays Folks! Jerry
  8. I have a Schuemann ultimatch bull barrel in 45 that was in a Springfield Armory slide I bought on here a couple years back. It's Wilson/Nowlin ramped. My question is this: Can I have this barrel turned down to a bushing barrel diameter on a lathe and put it back in the same slide to create an IDPA legal setup? What if any safety concerns could arise from doing this? While doing this could I also have the wilson ramp removed to return it to a standard non ramp configuration? (This is not crucial but I would need to buy a frame with a ramp cut or get my frame cut to use the barrel. I already have a standard frame on hand) Is this a reasonable idea or a horrible one that I should not consider at all? Thanks very much in advance for any advice. Jerry
  9. Man with the ammo stuff going on I'm missing matches this year that I usually go to. That is so frustrating. Anyone else feeling the strain? When I do come across the bullets to do a load up and make a few I feel like I'm over paying and taking away from family money. Gahh guilty shooting sucks 8(
  10. I'm not putting the Glocks on the track this year gonna have some fun with my HK's instead. I've got spare G17 mags and some parts that I can loan out for the season if anyone is in a jam. PM me and I'll see what I have available. I'll be at the Great Lakes Regional in May and at COLSC and SKSC monthly matches throughout the summer and I can bring stuff along. Of course if you borrow my stuff and then beat me with it you owe me a bag of M&Ms and a pop for consolation 8) Jerry
  11. Wow that's really too bad! Not only was he an incredible performer but he had some really great show features in bird hunting programs. Great talent and a wise hunter too. Will definitely add him to the prayer list this Sunday.
  12. Someday in the future I'll run across the right Bridgeport used and slowly enter the milling machine waters. When I do I hope you'll still be here to share your insights and experience. This has been a very fun topic to follow along. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished here! What's next a 3D printer??? :)
  13. I'm a member of the blown up Glock 40 club. It was with a factory round too on an unmodified gun. I saved the brass to show how it blew out through the bottom of the case. I switched to a Storm lake barrel after this happened and have not had a problem since. I kept the blown up frame for a conversation piece and to experiment on with various paints and stippling textures. I'll dig it up and PM you a couple pics if you like. This gun was a GEN 2 G22
  14. Ever run into this one.... You want a specific firearm. Exactly that firearm. Not anything else just that. So you type that gun into the search bar on Gunbroker and.... BAM! 760 items found! Wow they must all be what you're looking for! Nope -.- 759 of them are cheap knockoffs or lesser grade wannabe clones of what your looking for. Why did these things come up? Because the person selling them knew what you really would want is the real deal so they added "not" to the front of their post... NIB Citadel 1911! LOOOK! NOT Nighthawk, Not Wilson Combat, Not Springfield ARGH! If I wanted a Citadel I would type in Citadel. I know the difference and there is no way I'm going on Gunbroker looking for a Wilson and instead am going to buy a Citadel. But that's ok. I'll just click through all 760 hoping to find the right thing... Go ahead reply. Maybe I can send a copy to Gunbroker and get them to change their TOS..... NOT!
  15. When I was a kid my gramma saved the jelly on the sides of the jars by putting in some water and shaking the jar. Then she poured the mix into trays and made really really good popsicles. I save my wasted powder from the floor or bench and put it on my lawn for fertilizer We make our laundry detergent with a recipe we got online that gets the clothes really clean, smells awesome and does about 1000 loads for the price of a jug of detergent that does about 50 loads! (I will ask my wife and post it if anyone wants it) My best friend is into that extreme coupon thing. I go with her to help haul everything and I let her do most of our shopping too. Our grocery bill is hilarious. Best one yet... 400 bucks worth of groceries for a grand total of 35 bucks!
  16. They are awesome! I actually will usually trade folks Pmags straight up for them.

  18. Fellow shooters, I'm very embarrassed to be posting this but I have several reasons for doing so which I will explain in this post. Here goes... About a year ago I made a deal with a fellow member to trade a rail system that I removed from a gun I had for a 1911 slide that he had to spare. The slide arrived but the rail never did. I tried to recover it but I didn't use a shipping method though the postal service that included tracking information so it became a loss. After working back and forth with the gentleman that sent me the slide I agreed to pay him $140 for the slide and asked him to give me some time to save up the money as I was a little tight at the time. I then got tied up with life and totally forgot about it. It seemed like every time I was reminded of the money I owed him either by thinking of it myself or by him dropping me a polite reminder I didn't have it to spare. It also seemed that every time I had the money to spare I didn't remember to take the time to pay it. What I should have done was ask him to let me send a few dollars at a time until we were even. I also could have started saving it aside with a note reminding me of what it was for. At the very least I could have stuck a stupid post it to the side of the jar I throw my pocket change in and get it up that way. I didn't do any of those things. I was too embarrassed to say anything to him or ask for him to let me pay it back in installments. Too proud to ask for some kind of compromise. I won't mention the other parties name. It's not my place to do so. But I will say to him in front of my peers that I am very sorry for the disrespectful way I have handled this matter and for not making a more responsible effort to repay you that which I owe you. That being said I would like to take this opportunity to ask any other member of the forum who I may have forgotten about in the past to send me a PM to that effect. I honestly cannot remember any other such cases but if I have forgotten you please let me know. If we had a deal made for a swap, I asked to buy something from you or you offered to buy something from me I may simply have chosen not to make the deal and forgot to tell you. If that has happened please send me a PM too and at the very least I will tell you where I currently stand on the matter. I also would like to speak for a moment about my positive attributes as a fellow shooter, forum member and firearms enthusiast. I feel that even a mistake should be an opportunity to see positive things. I am an honest person. I have a family that I love very much and I always have and always will put them first. Apart from my horrible clerical skills I am very trustworthy and follow through with the deals I make. I am always happy to share what I have with fellow members and I am proud that I have never asked for more than a fair trade from anyone. I contribute to the forum in any way I can and I give of my time to the shooting sports as a Safety Officer, a match director and whenever I can as a volunteer. I'm not perfect and I'm far far too prideful but I am a good person, a good husband and a good man. Thank you all for your time, Jerry
  19. I have been thinking of doing that for a while now. I've got a trick slide S&W Wheelnut on here did for me. I like the idea of cutting the cover to match the sick front serrations he added to my slide. Glad I'm not the only one thinking of this!
  20. Tested out the AR I built from parts I got from fellow members. Thanks again guys for all the help it shoots great! Pics soon! Jerry
  21. +1 on the welcome! I used to use the CCI's when I was on an SDB and I also liked the "feel" of them. Good luck loading!
  22. Hey all, The poor Dillon guys are working so hard to keep up with us and I gotta say I'm deeply impressed! I'd just like to thank them for their efforts. +1 if you agree! That being said if anyone's 650 is down for a repair part that's backordered PM me. If I have it I'll send it to you and get another when they catch up. I'm hardly running 650 at all these days and I swear I must have enough parts accumulated to build a couple machines! Thanks! Jerry
  23. Hey all, Just had a primer go off in the 1050 and wanted to say a few things plus something that can't be said enough... 1. 1050's are awesome! Great primer malfunction measures in place in that design! 2. My ears hurt! Boy those primers are loud. Wish I had ear pro on but was listening for the phone expecting a call. 3. I dug a small shard of primer or dirt or something out of my safety glasses just a minute ago. Could have cost me an eye! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! Always wear those safety glasses! Thank you God for sparing my vision in this nasty little mishap. Thank you dad for beating that safety info into my head loading with you as a kid. Thank you Dillon for taking all those steps to make your machine so safe to use. Stay safe Jerry
  24. Are you on the factory barrel or did you change it out for a supported one?
