Many retailers have proven their worth or worthlessness since December. SJ 40
  3. When I replace magazine springs I use Wolff +5% springs,Wolff knows more about gun springs than anybody else. SJ 40
  4. When we don't have the time to cast our own SNS is my go to for cast bullets, SJ 40
  5. From what I read in the report it sounds as they haven't perfected them as of yet,not quite ready for prime time pun intended. SJ 40
  6. Key Findings of the WSTIAC Primer Study Were: 1. Lead-Free primers suffered from significant delays in ignition. 2. Lead-Free large rifle primers had a “a much larger variation in peak blast pressure” than did lead-based large rifle primers. 3. Field tests showed 7.62×51 rounds loaded with lead-free primers to be less accurate than rounds loaded with lead-based primers. 4. So-called “match-grade” primers were NOT always more consistent in pressure than standard primers. SJ 40 http://bulletin.accu...e-primer-tests/
  7. Check and calibrate your scale, something is wrong. SJ 40
  8. If one uses and has the Lee standard sizing adjusted properly there will be no need for any other cult dies, the sizing die will correct any Glocked brass. SJ 40
  9. Sorry my fault I could have swore I read minor.Yes be all means for Major WSF,that's my choice anyway. Sorry again SJ 40
  10. I might suggest WST rather than WSF for minor, cleaner burning at minor pressures, PF's. SJ 40
  11. You might try a load that is a favorite of mine for a 180 gr. LTC. 5.5 grs. of WSF Fed. SPP !.135 OAL SJ 40
  12. No problems loading or shooting bare lead at major PF in 40 S&W. I tend to favor Power Pistol or WSF,WSF tends to smoke less but either will easily make major. SJ 40
  13. If I am purchasing cases I want brass,if I'm picking up once fired cases at the range nickel will do. They tend to split more readily with fewer loadings than plain brass. SJ 40
  14. Hard to go wrong with either WST or WSF and cast lead. SJ 40
  15. This is just me mind you but if I were going to put a non ported barrel in my Glock it would be a Wilson. SJ 40
  16. I agree with SLM's take on the two,I also prefer the Redding. SJ 40
  17. My hope is for the Apex glock 9 mm extractor to be released sometime around September I hear. It seems to be Glocks new idea of Perfection, the perfection with the small p. SJ 40
  18. My vote goes to Decal Grip and I prefer the rubberized over the sand. SJ 40
  19. All I know is they better be making them by the truck load because their a boat load of Glock in need of them. SJ 40
  20. Their is no such thing as too many Magazines or too much ammunition. SJ 40
  21. I would urge them to as the need is almost as great as the 9mm,I would need 1 for 9mm and 3 for .40.SJ 40
  22. Or in the case of your e mail can not read the english language, powder and primer is the lastt thing to check The First thing to check, the BULLET. LOL ! SJ 40
  23. Bob, if you're new to reloading, my personal opinion is that I'd start out making .40 minor loads rather than .40 major loads. (That's what I did when I started loading 9mm major - I started out with pf 145, and worked up slowly to 160 - stayed there for awhile before I ventured into PF 170 - 175 country). You have to get the OAL, the crimp, powder charges/velocities all just right before you venture into Major country. Learn how to use the powder scale and the chrono, etc. Your father is concerned about a squib load from too low a pf, But, I'd be a lot more concerned about a setback on a Major load. Take your time, load up some 140 - 150 pf loads - take a little off the powder - and shoot a few hundred of them before you try to load them to major. Just my humble opinion. As Jack mentions that in my guns is a major load and my personal maximum for that bullet and powder. It chronos out of a 4 1/2" barrel at 963 FPS,avg.,I started out working it up at 4.5 grs. Just be safe and sane. SJ 40
  24. Does the seating die remove the flare? We really are all about avoiding kabooms!!! Thanks, B If you are using a Lee die set your seating/crimping die when properly adjusted should give you a modified tapper crimp but again I am just trying to remove the flare on my finished ammunition. SJ 40
  25. Bob I shoot a very simular load ,180 gr.LTC over 5.5 grs. WSF at 1.133. Nice factory duplication load, that is accurate. I don't use the FCD but what I am looking to do is have my tapper crimp die remove the bell, straighten out the case mouth and measure .421-.420 when I am done. SJ 40
