  4. back when i started in the early 80's, we used to have an annual shoot where the match director was none other than walt comstock (yep, he created the comstock scoring). walt lived up in NorCal back then. anyway, the bearded-silver haired gentleman was a really nice guy...BUT, he had his way of doing things. walt liked the old days. even though we had begun using audible timers, for walt's match, he used a stop watch. he would start the shooters visually-upon the movement of his hand holding the stop watch, and end the course of fire with a stop plate. yea, i'm dating myself, but i was there...

  9. i'm not a drag racing buff, but here's a recent news release from the NHRA site: Trijicon joins Schumacher's team as associate sponsor Team owner Don Schumacher announced today that Trijicon, a world leader in the development of Brilliant Aiming Solutions for the hunting, military, and law enforcement markets, has expanded its sponsorship portfolio by signing a multi-year associate sponsorship agreement with Don Schumacher Racing on the U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster. "Trijicon is excited to join Don Schumacher's championship operation as an associate sponsor," said Tom Munson, Director of Sales and Marketing for Trijicon. "Having our name on the U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster accomplishes two strategic goals for us: first, it provides another way for us to show our support for our troops, whom we are equipping daily for the war on terror. Second, it also allows us to promote our line of hunting optics to the NHRA fans, many of whom are dedicated hunters." cool...

  14. to me, the ket is transitioning from the hoser to the long range target as fast as possible, using that extra few tenths to acquire the proper sight picture, especially being cognizant of the location of the A zone being i bit higher...and of course-seeing the sights lift...
  15. well, if yer shooting 9 pin, where in the old second chance dayz were set 1 foot from the back of the table, yer fine (patrick s., jump in anytime). BUT, if we're talking 5 pin, where the pins are 1 foot from the front edge, 9mm bullets makes pins laugh!!! gimme the 285GR .45 HP's for that stuff...
  16. after trying about everything in the past few yeats in open, i opted for a benny special, what the heck. added a doctor on the rail under the simmons, and went to the winter classic last month. setup was fine-long range rifle was only to about 305 yds, but had no problems. the doctor in close will take a bit to get used to, but was pretty nice. i like the pro-diamond-glass is fine-just have to get used to the fairly limited eye relief-but that just take practice mounting the gun. i do think it need to be a bit higher than most scoped i've tried...but fer $49, i can but a sh%tload of NBT's...
  17. Was watching Saul's world shoot DVD's (which are absolutely great), and noticed a number of super squad folks shooting 30 rounds on a stage, with no reload. believe it was stage 29. in one case, max shot his dry. mine hold 28, plus one. i heard bevin does a mod to a big stack that will get you 30 rounds, fer something like $75. so how many of you have one in your bag?
  18. pretty pricey stuff, at leastr for rifle and shotgun. $8.50 for a box of AA's, and $6.60 for a box of 20 rounds of USA ammo is nuts. much cheaper to ship yer own to the hotel, i would think.
  19. as long as yer stuff stays on the same plane, yer ok, barry. i went thru there coming back from second chance in the 80's, and never saw my pin-gun again.
  20. as long as yer stuff stays on the same plane, yer ok, barry. i went thru there coming back from second chance in the 80's, and never saw my pin-gun again.

  22. Maybe you folks back in PA can help me understand this. Every year the groundhog comes out and if he sees his shadow, that means 6 more weeks of winter. seems to me if he sees a shadow, that implies there's sun out, so why the heck does that mean 6 more weeks of winter. hey, it's friday-i'm bored and there's no matches this weekend...
