rangefinders are a must-never trust a match book. besides, where else can you have 10 different opinions on the distance of one plate. i love when we all line up and start shouting different distances.

shot a local match yesterday that had a stage with both classic and metric targets. basically turned over a cup, and looked at a coin-heads you shot the metric, tails you shot the classic targets...and it was a field course. to make matters worse, there was a procedural per target for putting a round in the wrong target. at first glance, i thought the stage was illegal, but it's a level 1 and it was fun so we didn't make a stink. i cought the stage designer later in the day and told him about rule 4.2.1. he said he had written to uspsa and they said the stage was fine as long as the shooter did not have to engage different targets (do not know who in uspsa stated this. the uspsa rule states "there are two types of paper targets approved for uspsa matches. these types must not be included together in any stage". the way i always understood that is one type of target only, regardless of whether you are asked to only engage one or the other. gets back to the old argument of not having the same challenge for each shooter. again, not complaining, just wondering why my interpretation of 4.2.1 is different than that of uspsa.

according to the rulebook, the chrono station IS considered part of the course of fire, so all safety rules apply. in scenario 1, it's a bit dicey. the course of fire starts with "make ready". since in your example all the CRO did was tell the shooter to draw the gun and put it on the table, to me that started the COF, so i'd say he's gone. in #2-4, since the CRO is a competitor, he's gone. in scenario #5, if the CRO made the "range is clear command", the shooter is off the hook assuming he did not pick up the weapon. if the COF is not finished (i.e. no range is clear command), then i'd have to say he's gone. just an educated guess on my part.

so i break down and decide to buy a fancy new LED-LCD tv. get a samsung-it's awesome, friggin awesome. lasts for a day and goes toast. bring it back next day and get another. it's still working. this week, costco has it for sale for $230 off. i go there this morning to see if i get the cost difference. after checking with the customer service folks, they tell me i have to buy another one, then bring it in to the return desk and show them the receipt from the first buy and they'll take care of it. so i buy another, head for the return desk and suddenly they're all freaked. no one knows what to do. after 15 mins, they call a manager, who explains to them all they had to do is refund me the difference (duh). but i digress. so them end up refunding me for the entire 1st purchase at the higher price. i'm good. then, the clincher. they take another 15 mins to go to the safe to pull out enuf money to refund. since i bought it using my debit card, they refunded in cash. then, i have to head to the bank to deposit this huge wad of twenties they gave me. so what should have taked 5 minutes ends up taking several hours and trips to a bank. at least i got the $230. sad.

an old buddy of mine moved and was cleaning out his stuff and stumbled upon this. virgin chip mccormick hi-cap frame w/4 mags. he gave it to me for helping the move. cool.

i think the reticle in the brochure is wrong. my TA-11H says 3.5 M249 inside as well, and my reticle does not match either in the brochure. check the bottom of the tree and you will see the difference.

my wife has surgery tomorrow-the doctors are telling us it's very small, but aggressive. they believe she has an excellent chance of recovery. she will have to go through chemo and radiation treatments. we have cancelled our plans to move until the treatments conclude next year. thanx for all your support thus far.
