  1. I am SOOOO glad to hear that I am not the only one who HATES people who don't use their ashtray. If it is so bad that you have to get it out of you car so fast, than why the hell are you smoking them? Last week I took my motor cycle out forthe last ride of the year. At the stop light about 1/2 mile from my house the car infrount of me tossed a butt out the window, and then pulled forward one car length as the light changed to red. This gave me the chance to fullfill one of the fantasies I have had for awhile. I put the stand down on my cycle, picked the butt up, and then walked up to the car in frount of me that had tossed the butt out, and pinned the damn thing under their wind shield wipper. IL isn't a CCW state so I figured the guy couldn't shoot me, and wearing a full helmet, and head to toe Kevlar, unless he had at least a baseball bat I wasn't in much danger. He just kind of looked at me, like I was going to car jack him or something. As I passed him after the light changed the butt was still where I had deposited it. One down 10 million to go! How about I take all the butts I have to pick up in my yard, and make "Butt Bombs" that I can them throw into the cars of people who use the world as their ashtray? Have to make sure they are stopped, so they don't run off the road, wouldn't want to further accelerate their trip to the great unknown.
  2. Wish I could spend even more than I put in the poll. Made it to 2 Area Shoots this year, plus all the local ones, but the goal for 2004 is Factory Gun Nationals.
  3. $120 a year for the indoor range. That is ANY TIME you want to shoot, 24hr, 365. Weekly IPSC (or USPSA if you want to be picky) league shoot costs $5.00.
  4. I thought I heard yesterday that WI had passed their CCW law. Anbody heard anything from a reliable source? Even thought I live south of WI, behing the iron curtain, I would love to know if all of my cheddar head friends up there in "Yah, Hey, Der" country have the right to now carry. Boy, I hope so.
  5. There is another thread on here somewhere, where I posted this, but I can't remember where. I use N310 for my 230gr .45ACP loads. 4.2gr, Montana Gold 230 CMJ, OAL 1.255, Winchester LPP. Makes major, and runs all of my 45's without a hitch. Goo luck.
  6. SiG Lady, Can't we call it "Our World" I feel like I have too little as it is?
  7. This is one of those that everyone will have a different opinion, so I will toss in my $0.02 worth. I carry a Glock 36. Small enough to carry easily, big enough to fit my hand pretty well. Also, I wanted something in a MAJOR caliber, and I already had several .45acp guns. I agree with the previous posts. If you aren't comfortable, and confident enough to carry it all of the time it is a waste of money.
  8. Maybe this will make some of you who are out of work feel a little better. I know it depresses the HELL out of me. I own my own business. I work usually 5 to 6 days a week, call it 45 hours per week. Retail hours SUCK! So far this year we have gone through 44 weeks. That equals about 1980 hours I have worked this year, give or take. My TOTAL GROSS before taxes for the year is right at $5500.00 for the year. (Thank GOD my wife has a good job!) That means that for the year my GROSS hourly wage has been $2.77 per hour! The only thing worse than not working, is working your butt off, and not seeing any gain from it. Well, tomorrow is the monthly match at our club, so that is one good thing. Try to focus on thr possitve,.....right?
  9. I decided to go all out for Halloween. I am dressed up as the polar opposite of my normal attire. Today, I am pretending to be someone who actually gives a crap!
  10. Hey Guys, Thanks to all for the info. I might try and get a few hundred of the West Coast, to see how they work. Otherwise, I will just suck it up and stay with Montana Gold. Maybe I can put off my next order until I can save up enough money to get the 8 case discount. I wonder if that would blow the suspension in my car when I have to move if from work to home?
  11. I have looked at some of the previous threads reguarding West Coast bullets, but woud like to get as much info as possible. I have been using the Montana Gold 230gr bullets for a few years now, and am very happy with them. However, several of the guys who shoot at our club use West Coast bullets, and since they order in bulk, I could get comparable bullets from West Coast for about 2/3 the price of Montana Gold. My questions is, has anyone had any problems with West Coats bullets? Has anyone else made the change that I am thinking about making? Anyone with first hand knowledge of how these two SPECIFIC bullets from these two companies compair? Any input would be welcome. I figure if the products are close, less cost equals more shooting.
  12. One of the guys I shoot with worked several large tounaments this year, and received some brass for his efforts. Since he has since decided to get out of IPSC, he asked if I wanted the stuff. DUH... Really nice of him but.... Now I have 3 five gallon buckets of totally mixed, dirty brass to go through. I know I shouldn't be bitching, free brass after all, but sorting through the stuff is just such a pain in the a$$. I'm going to go invent the automatic brass sorter, so I can retire from my crappy job, and concentrate on shooting more.
  13. Good Luck L40. I lost my wedding ring last year, when I took it off before heading for the range. Could have sworn I put it into my range bag, but then when I went to get it after shooting it was gone. Found it 2 days later in the 2+ acre parking lot outside of work, AFTER IT SNOWED! I thought I was the lukiest guy alive. I know how you feel, two of the worst days I have had in a long time. Again, good luck.
  14. Had / have the same problem at our club. Volunteer to design a couple of stages if you have the time, and they let you, and have a bunch of mandatory reloads. Nothing makes those guys more pi$$ED off than having to drop their $100.00 mags on the ground alot.
  15. Been shooting N310 for about 1.5 years now. 230gr. Montana Gold CMJ bullet, 4.2gr of N310, and WLP primmers. OAL at 1.255. Makes major with just a little room to spare everytime. Has run FLAWLESSLY, and the combination seems to be a little cleaner than previos concoctions. Don't know about th 200 gr SWC. Good luck.
  16. JFD, Agree 100% to leave L-10 the *#@% Alone. I love it as it is, and would be really pissed to see it changed. Do all of us who like L-10 the way it is a favor, and call or write your area dirrector to like them know how you feel. I E-mailed the Area 5 dirrector on Friday, and he replied within 20 minutes. He is not in favor of changing L-10. Next E-mail goes out to USPSA President, Michael Voight, to let him know as well. Keep the skinny gun going, and maybe I will catch you at a match sometime.
  17. Focus on the shot you are taking "NOW" I did that for 2 1/2 stages in our thursday night league this last week, and can honestly say I shot them at very close to 100% of my current ability. The other 1/2 of a stage, I started to thinK about the last and next shots, with predictable results.....2 Mikes. Shoot in the moment.
  18. A semi wise man (my older brother) once told me: "You can marry more money in 5 minutes than you can make in a lifetime" Of course he is now divorced, but that is another story. As for "doing her"....."well, duh" seems to cover it all.
  19. Have had a Liberty for about 4 years now. One of the best investments I have made. Keep everything from guns, to coins, to passports in it. I agree with most of the previous replies, get the biggest you can afford. I could have afforded bigger, but as it was the three guys who delivered the safe scratched the walls a little bit getting it into the basement. (Old house, with narrow stairway) You will be amazed how fast you will fill the thing up.
  20. I scored a 1, but I am guessing that on the shoes question they weren't thinking of the 2 pair of combat boots, 2 pair of IPSC shoes, 6 pair of assorted rock/mountain climbing boots, and assorted cowboy boots. I tried for the zero, but came up just a little short.
  21. Interesting thread. Please leave L-10 Alone. I shoot both L-10 and Limited, and even though I know the wide body is easier to reload, I shoot the single stack better. Everytime I take some time off from my single stack, and then go back to it, it is like going home. The gun just FEELS better than anything else I own. As far as the holster requirment, that would really pi$$ me off. I have a full length, heavy, dust cover on my single stack, and I don't know of any non-race holster that would work with it. (And I finially got my draw to be under 1.5 on a semi regular basis) L-10 has been the most popular division at most of the matches I have shot at in the past few months, including WI state. That alone should say something about how bad of an idea it would be to make changes.
  22. The wide body is easier to reload, BUT I like the single stack a lot more. Just fits my hand better. I took a couple of months off from L-10 last year to shoot limited, and when I went back to my single stack the difference was more apparent than ever. It was like going home. Not to compair myself to TGO (cause it ain't ever going to be even close), but he has said that a single stack fits his hand better as well. I also just hate banging up my high cap mags unless I am shooting limited. Single stack ones are a lot less $.
  23. Can't say I have ever had time to do any live fire drills before a match. Usually there just isn't time in the morning before the event starts. Just the usual dry fire stuff in the safe area, and even then only if I have time. This past Sunday I R.O.ed for about 2 hours, then shot 4 stages in about 25 minutes so I could then go into work for the day. Fun, Fun.
  24. Shot this one today 10/5/03 Linited-10. Time 20.35 Points 106 (ouch!) Hit Factor 5.2088 If I figured things out right, that should post as about 78%. I wish the hits would have been better, but it will still help a little towards making it to A class. Thanks again to the people who posted tips on this one.
  25. We have two shooters in our area that have both had shoulder surgery in the last few months. Both of them decided to continue shooting during the months it took to recover, one of them WEAK hand only. The good news for both of them is that they both improoved their one handed shooting by tons. As long as you don't have to do a lot of reloads, it might be something to think about anyway. Heal Fast.
