  1. Won't he also have to fit a new ejector star with it? last time I did that, it was a ton of time labor.
  2. And, like hammer follow, it usually means somebody buggered a trigger job at some point in the gun's history.
  3. Most revos that will "push off" in SA mode are victims of fools who tried to lighten the SA trigger pull by grinding on the SA sear. Once the hard surface is removed, the sear face wears and leads to insufficient engagement which allows push off to occur.
  4. The trigger spring and striker spring always act as opposing forces. Stronger trigger spring = lighter pull (because it helps to pull the trigger) but also a weaker reset force. Stronger striker spring equals stronger reset force but also increased trigger pull. The secret is to get the right balance.
  5. Ahhhh... bringing logic, facts and reason into a discussion of the merits of a "trigger safety"? This should be good for a few fireworks. I think it's a fine safety.... as long as no person or thing touches the trigger. Of course, if no person or thing touches the trigger, exactly what do we a safety to save us from?
  6. huh?? its not the best idea..and really doesn't buy you anything on a competitive level..but unsafe?? its not inherently less safe than the gun was originally... anyway.. CY..its not going to make things any smoother or faster or more accurate..best to leave that one alone.. It would still be as safe as a revolver....
  7. Who said that? +1 It is kind of funny to hear the experts saying how Green bay is going to pound the Giants because they are so much better, have home field advantage, yadda, yadda, yadda....It's funny because that's just what all the experts were saying last week when they were heading into Dallas!
  8. The way he choked yesterday he couldn't beat a naughty orphan with a fly swatter. It was bizarre: he looked like a rattled rookie. His last two series of downs where tha game was on the line, he had the stink of panic all over him. he rushed his throws and was not accurate. I think at thst point, the NY defense had him so rattled he couldn't play.
  9. The Pats definitely look beatable. They are inconsistent and uninspired at this point.
  10. The Chargers game sure made the Patriots look beatable. They really did not diminate the way a super team would, IMHO. They don't seem to be able to stop the run consistently.
  11. When you are taping reruns of Fear factor..... then you know you really have a problem!
  12. The engineer in me would have liked to see an Rc hardness reading taken on the barrel before and after to see how much it "detempered" from the heating.
  13. What surprised me is that he is just using bad technique for that gun: on a single stack gun (with no funnel-mouth magwell) you really have to rotate the bottom up slightly and guide the mag down from above so you can see the opening of the magwell. On the double-stacks which have a tapered top magazine you can just ram them in blind from below as he was trying to do, because the taper at the top will nearly always go in. SS mags have to line up exactly or they catch an edge and hang up. It almost looked like he forgot the gun he was shooting was a single stack and was using the wrong technique.
  14. I'm an engineer, and I was envisioning setting up a stream of liquid nitrogen vapor that he could extend the gun into as he shoots to drop the temp when it got too hot. Did anybody else notice how many reload insertions he hosed up at the first part of the shooting? I was wondering why he doesn't rotate the magwell up where he can see it and then "look" the mag into the well to avoid the fumbling?
  15. Yeah, we educated them by not buying any of their outrageously priced guns or ammo.... and they went out of business. A year later, they reopened under slightly better management, but they are still a bunch of whining robbers who can't understand why people won't pay 50% markup on ammo when I can have it shipped right to my door by FEDEX and save a bundle of money.
  16. WOW. I only paid $549 for my new XD TAC .40 last year out here in Gougeafornia.... I would have thought ina gun friendly state like yours the price would be more like $500.BTW, at the local range where I used to shoot... when you asked them to get a price on anything, they quoted the FULL RETAIL price, + about 10% for their trouble, plus handling...... Then they whined to the head of our league that none of the shooters were SUPPORTING the range by buying their guns there.
  17. It may be worse than that: wait until they tell you the "cure" is to do the PT every day and change your lifestyle so you never re-aggravate the area. If the discs are compromised, the life you used to lead is done and you have to adjust to the restrictions of the new you. If you are like me, the pain will be the coach to remind you why you have to get right....
  18. sadly, peiople with chronic back problem quickly learn that the world is filled with only two kinds of people:People who don't believe you. People who don't care. I injured a major nerve doing just what you did (twisting around getting out of a car with deep seats) and the pain was so sever it was like being hit by lightning. The pain which can result from hitting a major nerve can not be described: it is so massive that it seems to be bigger than your whole body and coming from everywhere. I could only lay on the ground motionless and the only thing I could move without pain was my eyelids. When I had to hoist myself up on the toilet, the pain was so severe I screamed loud enough to hurt my ears. It was summeritme, but we had to keep all the windows closed so the neighbors would not call the police thinking somebody was being murdered. Sleep was impossible for a few days because the slightest movement caused horrible pain. It took about two months before I could walk again mostly pain free. I sure hope your pain is not that bad.
  19. +1000 The only relief I ever got was from a chiropractor.
  20. Sounds like a herniated disk, doesn't it? Almost a certainty that a disc is leaning on a nerve.
  21. I have had major back problems for about 20 years now. God help us both, hope yours gets better. Maybe, but radiating pain down the leg means a nerve was injured (pinched or stretched). Hope you are applying cold packs to it. Be VERY careful as most medical plans don't do a good job of diagnosing the root cause, they just asume it's a strain. The "therapy" that the kaiser PT's had me on kept re-injuring me and making it worse. I would recommend a sports medicine specialist. maybe you had no pain, but you could have done some of the damage to the discs that set you up for the ineviatble injury. Be VERY careful what kind of lifting or stretching you do from now on. I'll wager dollars to donuts the discs in your lower back have now become thin enough from age wear and tear that bones, nerves, and assorted things are in close enough proximity to get hurt when you turn the wrong way.
  22. That's the problem: same as with gasoline, they raised the price 50% and the consumption did not drop a bit (in fact, it went up slightly). Ammo will NEVER go back down now that they know that people will pay the jacked up prices.
  23. Ammo prices have basically doubled this year. The excuse is the "shortage" caused by the war... yet, like gasoline, somehow the "shortage" which is the excuse for the gouging never means they are actually short of the overpriced product. Cheap 9mm ammo at the sport stores now is aboput $16, cheap .45 ammo has to be at least $5 over that. At the range, the markup is always about +25% just because they make all their money selling ammo. BTW: check internet prices on case lots. A couple of years ago I could always get 1000 cases of cheap 9mm (S+B, Blazer brass, etc) for about $110-$120. You're lucky to find it under $200 now. The ammo makers have learned the lesson from Big Oil.... gouge them and they will pay.....
  24. Funny.... when I saw the title of thise thread I thought it said: Texas Done for 2007 I was thinking that it was a duplicate thread about the cowboys losing the big game last week. One of the few times being a little dyslexic was highly entertaining....
