  1. I wish you had told me that before I shot those 30,000 rounds out my 9mm STI Trojan without a single hiccup. Must be one of those cases of doing it because I didn't realize it was impossible....
  2. You can get a clean break on a HP, but the secondary cut on the sear has to be just right. Many HP's will develop hammer follow as the sear wears even a little bit which is really annoying because then you need another trigger job.
  3. You can get a standard HP down to around 4# pull and still be reliable. The HP GP Comp (with the longer sear lever) can go about a pound lower. Those guns are really rare, I have one. The HP is an OK gun, but the trigger will never compare to the 1911.
  4. At least I know where the california weather ended up after the climate shift.
  5. My wife's been a nurse for 32 years. They do a terrific (and thankless) job. I'm not going to tell you what they say about patients behind your back.....
  6. That's what I was thinking.... I love the new KFC commercials where they "rescue" the family by bringing home dinner for mom.... Notice a whole family of white people, all thin and good looking are supposedly chowing down on a meal that has more fat than a barrel of bacon grease. And they all love each other again because they are eating together. Sure.... that's real.
  7. I got up to ride to work the other day (8:30AM) and it was 34 degrees.... Oh, did I forget to mention that this is the Bay Area in northern Kali in the SUNSHINE STATE? We had unseasonably warm weather (I was outside cooking the Thanksgiving Turkey in short sleeves with 75 degree weather).... and about a week later we were being blasted with this arctic weather that has not let up since then.
  8. I agree, but the real killer is the sheer volume of them: a typical half hour show has 10 minutes of commercials, and I have seen local news shows that run 13 minutes of commercials in a half hour broadcast. A typical commercial break is now 3 to 4.5 minutes, and the ads are all 30 seconds long: that means you get hit with six to nine commercials every time. Give me a break. Broadcast radio is even worse.
  9. I think it's carl's Jr commercials that always have some moron chomping and slurping as he talks... I suppose that's suppose to impress us with how good the food tastes, but it makes me want to punch him in the face and tell him to learn some manners.
  10. Just got off the phone with Scott. Did the "pencil test" and it worked as it should. Checked the striker block again, and it was fine. Scott mentioned it could be the buffer spring....sooooooo...I'm digging through my parts looking for the stock one...THANKS SCOTT!!!!!!!!!! Keith The buffer spring (which resists the forward motion of the striker) should have been tested when you dry fired the pencil or pen out the barrel.... and, you said that went OK. BTW: the buffer spring that came in your trigger kit is likely weaker than stock, so it should not be reducing striker force.
  11. Reduced power striker spring is failing to ignite stiff primers.Either that, or the primers are not fully seated.
  12. Wow, that is totally cool. My brother had some buddies in the sacramento Sheriff's department way back when.... popular guys because they always had the BEST dope. I guess when you sieze that much dope, you get your pick of the litter....
  13. Stress will kill you.... I know, it's killing me. Some of us just get more wound up about stuff than other people, I think it's because we want to control everything and make it work just right. The high cost of being a perfectionist...... Hope this goes away on it's own and never comes back.
  14. My sister gets a lot of those. best info is that they result from some kind of exposure event at an early age, that makes you more prone to it.
  15. Lucky you don't live in kalifornia.DA: "Why did you feel the need to shoot that poor burglar FIVE TIMES?" Defendant: "Well..... he was still wiggling after four......"
  16. Great del on hi-caps, not that I will ever be able to buy any. Back when I bought my G35, the AWB had just expired and places were dumping the ten round factory mags below cost. I got a bagfull for about $12 each.
  17. If that's a factory MIM hammer, the odds are the vibration from the Dremeling found a minute internal grain defect which allowed the part to fracture later. I'm not a MIM hater, but it can have internal defects from grain variance or air voids in the mold.
  18. The pound rating on the connector does not equate to the trigger pull weight. The G35 comes stock with the "3.5# connector" but the stock pull weight was more like 5 - 5.5#. Your G17 sounds about right. The triggers can be lightened substantially. 2.5 - 3# is pretty easy to get to.
  19. Wow... reloading 9mm... ammo prices really have gone through the roof.
  20. Or, you could be advised that 5# trigger will feel like a five OUNCE trigger if your life is ever actually in danger and you have to pull the weapon. Cops all across this country are firing AD's with issue Glocks which have pulls WAY heavier than 5#. My personal opinion is the 14# DA long distance pull of a SW revolver was the best silent angel we had preventing AD's..... I would never reduce the pull weight on a carry piece.
  21. Reducing the hammer mass increases striking energy so you can go to a lighter mainspring setting and get a lighter DSA pull.
  22. I get it... you mean one that's still attached to the young guy who owns it.
  23. If I recall, texas is the last state where it is still legal to use deadly force to defend property. I'm not sure if it's legal to do it defending somebdoy else's property.....
  24. I've been waiting almost a week for someone to point that out A phrase you've heard too often? My wife was going ballistic for a while because I order ammo and gun parts using her AOL account which is in her name.... and the sellers sell name lists to others who sell "related products"..... well, apparrently they think having a tiny weenie and a limp one is a common affliction among gun shooters because she started getting an inbox full of offers for Viagra and penis enlargers. She called me over and showed me one of the e-mails, this was the title line: Ann Malone, Do You Want a Larger penis? I only hope a computer sent this automatically, I'd hate to think any human was stupid enough to write that....
